The oldest rodeo in Nevada ELKO Western-style entertainment await you at one of Elko’s most famed events, the Silver State Stampede, held at the Elko County Fairgrounds in the heart of Elko. Held in annually in mid-July the Silver State Stampede features real working cowboys from Nevada and the surrounding states. On Friday and Saturday gates open at 4 p.m. and the action starts at 6 p.m. with the Mutton Busting. On Sunday the gates open at 12 p.m. and the action starts at 1 p.m. with the Mutton Busting. This year will highlight the 17th year of Old West Bronc Riding during each performance. There will also be mini bull riding, Roughstock 101 ages 8-10 division and 11-13. Between Stampede events Slim Gardner, a favorite with his clown acts and the Diamond Z Hitch from Cedar City , Utah, will perform for spectators. The Stampede includes PRCA sanctioned roping and riding events, as well as
the popular Old West Bronc Riding Championship, held in the tradition of old-time buckaroos. This event is open to amateur and professional contestants alike. Entrants ride in the stock saddles they work in every day, to simulate actual working conditions of authentic modern-day cowboys and buckaroos. Each night following the conclusion of the day’s rodeo performance, a live band strikes it up. Dance under the stars and mingle with rodeo contestants “Where the Sidewalk End and the West Begins” Concession stands at the Stampede offer a variety of high-quality food and beverages, and a fully-stocked bar supplies beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Vendors of western wear, tack, and cowboy gear are scheduled to set up booths. A number of unique Silver State Stampede souvenirs are also available, including t-shirts, caps, and commemorative posters. Find more information at www.silverstatestampede.com.

The tradition of Elko’s annual rodeo started in 1913 when GS Garcia, the worldfamous bit, spur, and saddle maker, decided that northern Nevada cowboys needed a rodeo, and the town needed the added entertainment and income. Today’s Stampede has grown into a multi-faceted event, showcasing the best of rodeo and ranch cowboys alike.

About A Thousand Horses
America’s bona fide band of brothers, A Thousand Horses, delivers an authentic fusion of southern rock and contemporary country mixed with rowdy jams. Their tough-as-nails new track “My Time’s Comin’” is the first look at their forthcoming second album “Starting Fires,” produced by GRAMMY™ award winner Dave Cobb. The group’s debut single “Smoke” made country aircheck history as the highest debut for a new artist and solidified the band (with at least three members) as the first this decade to score a #1 with their
first single on the Billboard country airplay chart. A Thousand Horses have landed multiple award show nominations, most recently vying for the title of “New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year” at the 52nd annual ACM Awards™. The band’s debut album “Southernality” blends southern rock and influential sounds of The Black Crowes and Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main Street” era, followed by their six track EP “Bridges” which include the working-man’s anthem “Preachin’ to the Choir.” The talented foursome soars with Michael Hobby on lead vocals, as Bill Satcher and Zach Brown on guitar and Graham Deloach on bass round out their unique grooves. After opening for country powerhouse Jason Aldean and a string of performances in the UK., A Thousand Horses have headlined shows across the U.S. and served as direct support on Kid Rock’s 2018 “American Rock n Roll” tour.”
About Lindsay Ell
Lauded as “one of the most exciting and talented young artists in country music” by Forbes, Lindsay Ell is a triple threat: accomplished musician, unique vocalist and songwriter. The Calgary native learned to play guitar while traveling with her father to country-bluegrass camps as a young girl. Ell honed her crafts as a musical stylist and songwriter after being discovered by BTO and The Guess Who’s Randy Bachman, who discovered her at the age of 13. The multiinstrumentalist was soon touring alongside the likes of Luke Bryan, Buddy Guy and Keith Urban as well as wowing audiences as Carrie Underwood’s guitar player live on the 50th annual CMA Awards™ and holding her own alongside icon Melissa Etheridge on “Skyville Live.” In the last year alone, Ell has exhilarated audiences as part of Brad Paisley’s “Weekend Warrior” world tour, Sugarland’s “Still the Same” tour and Keith Urban’s “Graffiti U” world tour. Ell’s first full-length album “The Project” debuted at no. 1 on the country album sales chart and was named Billboard’s “Best Country Album of 2017.” Her single “Criminal” was the most added song on country radio upon impact and became her first ever Top 20 hit in the U.S. in addition to becoming her first no. 1 single on the Canadian country radio charts

Concert at the Lake with Elvis Monroe
ELY Take a trip on July 5th to the breathtaking Cave Lake State Park for a concert you will not forget. Members of Elvis Monroe have worked tirelessly for the last seven years to create what is truly a unique sonic platform that features an eclectic mix of country, classic Americana and modern flavors. Those elements come to life in an organic live show full of laughs and audience participation - all wrapped up in an engaging Storytellers format. Over the past five years, Elvis Monroe has toured the country independently playing one-off shows. In June of 2017, Elvis Monroe partnered with Boston-based company Cappello Heavy Transport and began touring aggressively (on their beloved tour bus named Shelby), visiting radio station
and playing shows with an impressive roster of A-list national talent such as Lee Brice, Jake Owen, Daughtry and Brett Young to name a few. Their longer tours include extensive time on the road and nightly shows with bands like 3 Doors Down and Love and Theft. Elvis Monroe’s consistent ability to deliver a stand-out live show is captivating. Whether it’s Ben and Bryan onstage as an acoustic duo with best friend banter or as a world class six-piece band that includes drums, two guitars, bass, and a fiddle, Elvis Monroe’s live show is always entertaining. Elvis Monroe was forged on friendships and is an honest, heart-felt and unique listening experience. Their songs speak their stories with rare truth and integrity, and their accessibility as humans is endearing to fans nationwide. They look forward to meeting you at the show!
Music at the Martin —
Mike Beck: The Ponies
WINNEMUCCA Mike Beck will be performing at the Martin on Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m. The performance is brought by Great Basin Arts & Entertainment. Mike Beck is an engaging acoustic solo artist who regularly performs in the United States and Europe. He is a regularly featured performer at The National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering. Mike has seven albums under his belt with original songs that have been recognized as some of the finest compositions on Western Americana out there. The Western Horseman magazine recently picked “The 13 Best Cowboy
Songs,” and included two compositions by Mike, putting him along side other writers such as Ian Tyson, Tom Russell, Lucinda Williams, and Gene Autry. His strong command of the guitar and playing reminiscent of Steven Stills, sets him apart in a way that has garnered him many request for guitar workshops at festivals. Mike is a seasoned performer — his guitar work and warm, genuine style engages audiences with his songs and stories. Acording to Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, “Mike Beck plays the guitar like Byrd. His strings do things that mine could never do. They obey the slightest finger-touch commands like a fine Reining Horse.” Find more information at www.gbae.org or www.mikebeck.com.
