I started to dig out some classic horror comics that I have and other comics that was kindly loaned to me from a friend to get inspiraton for style and how the story is told through image. I wanted to find some influence of how a horror story is portrait wit in story board. looking for colour selection, composition that best set the drama and the creepy feel that i want to run through my publication.
I chose to document These images because its a good example of illustrating ghost/dream state figures (right) (left) this is a perfect example of demonstrating objects moving on their own. very detailed heavy use of panel work.
again documentation of examples of capturing the drama through composition. The panels here show a lot of the location. doing this sets the scene and gives more information about the where about that then gives the story more detail and atmosphere
I documented these panels because i like the use of the black in them. with good decisions of the use of negative space and with black makes the night scene more deliverable. being more realistic is key for my publication, it need to be realistic to get the creepy atmosphere ad leave lots to the imagination, being able to relate to the imagery lets the imagination of the reader be at the scene, or put them in a location they know them selfs. I.E train station location, if drawn well and realistic enough the viewer you will read this and see a translation they visit in mind. emphasises the the fear.
Artists that I researched that are based in the comic book industry and are considered to be the masters of horror illustration.these artists will be my influence and reference through out my publication. I will document when i use there techniques and influence as my project progresses.
