practical sketchbook Douglas Bader pin up work in progress
this piece is going to be a pin up of douglas Bader. it will be used with in my publication as a nob to the head of his heroic actions. i started this project of by rereading my research of him to get a feel of his character and then i started to draw his profile
I used thumbnails to experiment different ideas to find the one that works best. i had in mind of a young Bader but i wanted to try drawing an older Bader to see how it would look
i decided to draw a younger Bader for this piece because i felt it was more relevant to his story. i want to acnolig his heroism with in the war‌not his heroic actions after it. i referenced this picture from google. i feel that ill struggle to get the alikeness due to most of his photos are in black and white and ill be translating that into colour

this is were my illustration is up to. so far I've coloured the elements of my picture. Bader was difficult as stated before. getting the colours right was a challenge but i feel that iv got it to the best of my ability.
