Tonya Ware “The Voice”

P

astor Ware began singing at the age of six. As she grew older, she accompanied her father who visited the inmates in jail to minister to them.

through her gift of song. She has been featured on BET, GMC, and FOX Network.

It was during those occassions that some of the inmates heard Tonya sing and as a result referred to her as the little girl with “The Voice.”

Along the way Tonya met her husband Bishop Adrian Ware. Together they pioneered the well known “Church Triumphant” which is located in Ridgeland, MS where she serves as the Vice Chief Executive Officer.

That incredible voice landed her a Berklee School of Music Scholarship after performing at a singingsongwriter program.

In 2006 Tonya released her first self titled album called “Tonya Ware - The Voice” and will be releasing a new Jazz EP.

Get On Up!

LeCourtney Harness, pictured above, played the role of Marva Whitney in the James Brown biopic “Get On Up” LeCourtney Harness, a Port Gibson native has over 13 years as a performer. She landed her current role in Get On Up after a hiatus from acting after the passing of her mother.

Mrs. Harness is a 2003 graduate of Jackson State University in Speech Communication with a Concentration in Dramatic Arts, and received her MBA from Belhaven University in 2012.

“I feel the opportunity to be part of such a great film as Get on Up was simply God’s way of showing me that all things are truly possible,” says LeCourney.

LeCourtney is thankful that she got to work with so many incredible actors and actresses. She received industry advice from them all. “I keep in touch with many of them and will always be thankful for the experience.”

LeCourtney says she is preparing for new film and theatre opportunities and will never give up on her career again.

Aunt Joyce’s Kids

Aunt Joyce’s Kids was founded my Kimberly V. Bracey in honor of her Aunt Joyce who after battling a form of cancer passed away at the young age of 49. After seeing how her only adult son took care of her aunt, and the financial

strain it was for him, Kimberly decided to organize a nonprofit in her Aunt’s honor due to her Aunt Joyce’s love for kids and her big heart. Aunt Joyce’s Kids assists families in the Jackson Metropolitan area who are low-income caregivers for children diagnosed with forms of cancer.

Kimberly V. Bracey, founder of Aunt Joyce’s kids is currently the Executive Assistant to Mayor Tony Yarbor. She is also a full-time student at Walden University where she is developing her dissertation surrounding the effect of childhood cancers on indigent and unmarried female caregivers. This is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a time when women are encouraged to get a mammogram.

Gallaway Baptist Church, an adopter of Johnson Elementary School, recently hosted a fabulous carnival at the school which had dozens of games for the children, plenty of free food, popcorn, snow balls and more. It was a blast of fun for the kids and adults too!

Voice of Calvary Ministries. Their team of Peer to Peer Counselors and Case Managers work hard to assist Veterans who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless all over the State of Mississippi. They cover 76 of the 82 counties in MS.

COOKING WITH HONEY

~MS HONEY’S DEEP DISH SKILLET PEACH COBBLER~ What a delicious mouth full of down-home southern goodness and a prefect treat to add to your menu! • 1 lager cast iron skillet “ LOL Every southern girl should have one it will last a lot longer then those to tight high heels” • 1 stick butter • 1-1/2 -2 cans peaches depending on the size of your skillet • 1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar • 1 can of biscuits 12 in the can • 8 oz cream cheese • 1/2 cup of Caramel ( I used Mrs Richardson’s) • 1/2 can sweet condense milk • 2 teaspoon nutmeg • 1 teaspoon cinnamon • teaspoon vanilla • take 6 biscuits and pull them apart/ roll them into balls and lightly flour • the other 6 flatten dust with flour/ sprinkle on cinnamon and powder sugar set to set • open peaches pour half the juice in a cup set to side •( in a medium bowl mix cream cheese sweet milk vanilla the peach juice you set to the side and caramel and blend) • melt butter • add 1 cup brown sugar • once the butter and sugar has began to caramelize add biscuit ball using a lager spoon turn ball after about 3 minutes • add peaches placing them at random • sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon • pour caramel mixture let cook down for 5 minutes • place biscuits on top place in a pre~heated oven for 25-28 minutes until biscuits are golden brown and server • PERFECTLY serves will cool whip or vanilla ice cream YUM YUM YUMMY!!!!
