CREATING SEA SPONGES USING GRASSHOPPER
T
his weeks Grasshopper task was quite challenging as prior to starting this subjects I have had zero experience using the plug-in and very limited exposure to Rhinoceros 5. I approached this task of creating a sea sponge by first creating a curve that is like a vertical section of the sponge. Then I proceeded to duplicate this section and rotate to create a three dimensional ‘frame’ of the sea sponge. The next step was to use put these curves into Grasshopper using ‘curve containers.’ After each curve had been translated into Grasshopper the surface could be created using the ‘loft’ surface tool. To create other unique ‘branches’ of the sea sponge I used the bend/stretch/twist tools within the transform tab in Rhinoceros.
