About Me
Contents
When I was younger, my first encounter of architecture was through making tiny wood models of houses, followed by doing line sketches of urban skylines and beautiful landscapes during my overseas travels. These small hobbies then grew to become a keen interest in the study of the built environment. I believe that architecture is the craft of creating enjoyable and sustainable spaces for the community to thrive in. Good architecture must accommodate the needs of people from all walks of life while being mindful of its environmental impacts. Together, the collection of spaces, objects and people form an interwoven system of shared experiences that are vital to our daily lives. Besides design, I love to spend my free time exploring new cafes and nature trails with family and friends. Otherwise, you can find me curled up on the sofa with a book in hand or dabbling away with watercolour paints.

01 Farmer’s Estate Year: 2020 Semester: Y2S1 Typology: Mixed-use agri-urbanism housing estate Graded as top work in cohort for the semester Farmers Estate is a mixed-used housing estate where farming and living co-exist in every space. The design typology has micro-climatic conditions suitable for farming in the city while allowing urban farmer residents to dwell together. All the farming spaces in this project are community spaces, where the residents can interact and engage in farming activities together. At the same time, the residents are all shared owners of 3 business models: farm to market, farm to plate and farm to retail. In essence, this project represents the possibility
of
intertwining
housing,
farming and community living.

The initial Sungei Seletar that is flowing through Springleaf Nature Park is disconnected from the public due to the fencing along its banks that physically separate it from the PCN and forest reserve. The backyards of the Thong Soon Green housing estate are also mostly walled off from the field behind them, resulting in little interactions between the residents and the park.
The revamped Sungei Seletar adopts the concept of removing its fencing and transforming the river into a floodplain from its case study of Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park. An oxbow lake is also introduced to bring the river closer to the housing estate. Furthermore, the backyards of the housing estate are also opened up to physically connect residents to the park.

Year: 2023 Semester: Y4S2 Typology: A pilot adaptive reuse senior living project
Extension extends over field behind house The extension will comprise of additional bedrooms to facilitate multigenerational living in the seniors’ original home. The space below the extension will be transformed into a community urban farm that responds to the forest reserve.
Fragmented house House A +
House B By integrating resilient stormwater management infrastructure with public and residential spaces, more recreational spaces are created and value is added to the area by improving access, connectivity and aesthetics.
This housing option combines neighbouring houses together by connecting its internal living areas and forming communal spaces for seniors to be able to colive with neighbours and friends.
This housing option fragments a part of House A and internally connects it to House B for seniors who want to right-size their home and rent out their unused living spaces to their neighbours.

03 ‘Cycle-in’ Year: 2021 Semester: Y3S1 Typology: Adaptive reuse urban cyclist pitstop
‘Cycle-in’ is an adaptive reuse of the former Bedok North Secondary School into an urban cyclist pitstop with remediation as its overarching theme. The project hence aligns with the 2030 Singapore Green Plan and the 2040 Transport Masterplan that advocates the concepts of ‘City in Nature’ and ‘Walk Cycle Ride’ as sustainable modes of mobility. ‘Cycle-in’ is both a Connector and a Destination. It will provide multi-layered cycling connections to the adjacent PCN, transport networks and its neighbourhood. At the same time, the concept of cycling will be well-integrated throughout its spaces and programmes, as well as into its facades and urban furniture to create a new cyclist-centric building typology for a more sustainable future.

05 The Golden Mile & The Linear City Year: 2019 Semester: Y1S1 Typology: Visionary modernist architecture Featured in SEAM Space Singapore Exhibition Graded as top work in cohort for the semester
The work offers a unique perspective of The Golden Mile while paying homage to the vision of Singapore’s pioneer architects, through the juxtaposition of what once was an architectural possibility and the reality of its actual outcome. It sheds light on the idealistic conception of a utopian imagination; the left being a fantastical creation of an ambitious linear city (which was to be named The Golden Mile Stretch) influenced by Japanese metabolism, where its interlinked multipurpose spaces are self-sufficient and vibrant with life. The right, however, is
a

standing amidst skyscrapers and rapid urbanization, an emblem of a city corridor of tomorrow ultimately left unrealized.

06 The Communal Canvas Year: 2020 Competition work: Playhouse Competition Typology: Creative pandemic play Featured in Dutch Design Week 2020 under best submissions
Play is an essential part of all our lives, whether child or adult. However, the Coronavirus outbreak has left many of us having to spend extended periods of time at home in lockdown, restricting the opportunity to socialise and play in ways that we are used to. The Communal Canvas seeks to promote collaborative creative play amongst HDB dwellers in Singapore. Neighbours must work together to launch balls into each other’s container contaptions to release paint onto the canvas below, creating an abstract multi-coloured masterpiece in a fun and novel way as a community.
