ExBo Statement International collaboration is not only the topic of our Spring Meeting 2011 (formally called “The International Congress of Youth Entrepreneurship”), but also one of the biggest challenges in JADE Network. Fostering entrepreneurship on an international level was one of the intentions of the establishment of JADE in 1992. Almost 20 years later, we are sharing our achievements and best practices and the JADE events are open to external students. During the Spring Meeting 2011, 80 students of HU Brussels will join us for the workshops, working together on innovative and practical solutions. The new perspective outside the Network will have an impact and will merge with the success of over 200 Junior Entrepreneurs during interactive sessions with Google and Accenture. Moreover, the atmosphere of the European Parliament and the excitement of the Excellence Awards will remind us once again that we are the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and people with enormous impact. After electing the hosting JE for the May Meeting, (from the five outrageous applications), this development will continue and conclude in a joined event: “JADE May Meeting” meets “Junior & Enterprise”. In addition to being open to the Junior Entrepreneurs, JADE May Meeting will also be merged with the event “Junior & Enterprise” and gather professionals and students from across Europe. The May Meeting will host the election of the new JADE ExBo 2012. The shifting of the election for the new Board to May Meeting will enable you to start your career at JADE within the summer term, when most Universities are finishing their semesters. Apart from developing professional- and soft skills, you will be directly involved in current political and economic affairs and actively contribute to their success –exclusive experience at this early age. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the current JADE ExBo Board members for further information! The future is in your hand! Best wishes for your future!

“Hello. My name is Tzoanna Tsakona and I am part of a Junior Enterprise. We do consulting services.”
Ok that already leads to the question “What the hell is a Junior Enterprise or “so what?”
Hello. My name is Tzoanna Tsakona and I am running together with other students a consulting SME. It’s called Junior Enterprise and it is strongly linked with our University. We are part of a huge Network of around 280 Junior Enterprises along Europe, called JADE. JADE Network consists of 20,000 Junior Entrepreneurs focused on developing their entrepreneurial skills. That is why we exchange best practices, knowledge and cooperate on international level.
What is the purpose of this example?
Networks exist to support us. If JADE Network didn’t exist we would have to invent one! Discover and spread JADE Network! •Use the brand to sell yourself better to partners and clients! Learn about the successes of other JEs around the 16 European countries. •Use JADE knowledge in front of partners and empower more your JEs image. •Care about the Network by exchanging contacts of media, high institutions, government that contribute to JADE’s strategy on going external! Support your Network to support you back! KEEP YOUR NETWORK ALIVE AND ACTIVE by convincing your fellow Junior Entrepreneurs to consult their Confederations for more results and actions in what they really need!

Why creating a Junior Enterprise? “It’s not such an easy thing though. And even if some people could think creating a Junior is like undertake in his cradle, it still remains an obstacle course. “ In the beginning, it’s great. Everything is going as planned, things are easy, you get congratulations, people are happy. But come back down to earth! Nothing goes as planned, things are complicated, blames will always fall before the congratulations and people are irritated. You have to stir things up! You make things move and things do not like to be moved. “It worked well before, why would he like to change it?” Brieuc de Lovinfosse, Strating JE in Brussels
To create and to innovate: two concepts increasingly popular. Those terms are large and imply a series of similar words like: dynamism, change, upset, development, improvement …etc. With a constantly changing world, it’s important to create and to innovate in the point of view of the company as well as the individual. Create and innovate mean “daring for progress”. It involves courage but it’s necessary for oneself.
It’s important that everybody becomes aware that it’s in us and that it is really useful. It’s a source of energy necessary to tame his capacity to create and to innovate. The madness of an entrepreneur is a simple the result of a hard stimulation of his entrepreneurship. He tamed the capacity to create and to innovate. And we all do, everyday, by trying new methods, suggesting new ideas, taking new responsibilities or involving ourselves.
Fortunately, we become increasingly aware that we are not swimming in the Dead Sea, we must make efforts continually to keep afloat. But for most of us those concepts need to be imprisoned and have to be under control before you can enjoy it. But this is a mistake! Innovate and create are wild concepts that better opened and let loose. All there power depends on the freedom they are given. People say only fools, also named “entrepreneurs”, know how to tame them because they have that entrepreneurship in them. Wrong again. We all dispose this entrepreneurship.
I see Junior Enterprises as a really nice way to stimulate his entrepreneurship. It’s not only the opportunity to learn practical things about business that motives me to enroll in a Junior but also (above all) the opportunity for a student to reach such possibilities of action, of responsibilities, of creativity that are excellent ways to stimulate.
Invasive or discreet but is in all of us.
I realize how hard it is for a student to find a way to stimulate entrepreneurship. I’m convinced that feeding entrepreneurship is extremely important when you are young. I want to help my university to benefit such tool like a Junior Enterprise for their students. By the way, creating a Junior is without doubt a great stimulation!! 6
Let’s Cooperate! The first international cooperation carried out through JE.NET Cooperation happened in August 2010 between the junior enterprise PS Jr., Brasil Júnior’s JE, and J.E.To.P, Torino JE, Italy. JE.NET Cooperation is the first tool of direct communication between Brazilian and European networks. It is an online platform developed by JADE and Brasil Júnior, aiming to bridge the gap between junior enterprises from partner confederations. JE.NET Cooperation promotes the exchange of experiences and practices, facilitates benchmarking and assists in carrying out projects together. Check out the interview of the first cooperation: How the interest in making this international exchange was born? According to Vivian Canary, PS Jr Chairman, the interest came from them. Approximately since three years PS Jr. has a policy of encouraging JE member exchanges in order to meet different methodologies and adapt to the reality of the company. Felipe Camozzato, president of PS Junior at 2010.1, suggested the executive board to send a PS Jr. member to JEWC Milano. But there needed to be another advantages for the JE for those huge costs.
What was the part that JE.NET Cooperation took in this exchange? In order to optimize the JE investment, PS Jr seeked to extend the period during which the representative of the PS would stay in Europe, so that he could get to know good practices of European JE’s and acquire another business vision. With that interest in mind, Felipe started seeking a JE interested in receiving a junior entrepreneur through JE.NET Cooperation. And it worked. "The tool was very useful to find J.E.To.P, and set up all the points of cooperation - Luis Eduardo Obregon was one week after JEWC Milano already at the Engineering JE in Torino" said Vivian. On the other hand, J.E.To.P was very happy to know the interest of PS Jr. to cooperate. They quickly agreed with Camozzato’s invitation and just after JEWC Milano, Luis Eduardo arrived in Torino. During seven days that Luis stood there they exchanged many practices and work experiences. "In the end, we were really pleased with the results we achieved. Honestly, we really like this knowledge exchange. And we are grateful for the chance JE.NET Cooperation gave us.“ How do you evaluate the final outcome of the cooperation? Vivian believes that the investment in the exchange process of PS provided a great maturity for the members of the company, which saw another reality of the Junior Enterprises. Moreover, this exchange was very important for the visibility of PS Júnior at international level - with results at the Brazilian regional and national congress. Luis Eduardo was also selected to be Brasil Júnior ambassador 2011.2, which represents a conquest of his Junior enterprise.

PICTURE OF THE MONTH
JADE Public Affairs team caught in action with Herman VAN ROMPUY, President of the European Council. Alessandro Falleiros Project Manager of Public Affairs and Tzoanna Tsakona, Secretary General and Head of Public Affairs are representing JADE spirit at the top lobbying level of EU Institutions!
JADE
The public affairs unit is considered to be one of the most important departments in JADE Headquarters. Why? It is about branding! JADE is recognized , heard and taken very seriously when it comes to policy making. That is why JADE Headquarters are placed in Brussels! When you say you belong to the JADE network it means something, not only to companies, but also to high level decision makers! The challenge is to spread this message to every country. Use this visibility on the EU level to gain recognition on national levels and empower your JE’s image towards your partners.

Dropping the “Junior” out of “Junior-Entrepreneur”
!
What if you could manage your Junior-Enterprise from your sofa or in the train? We, Junior-Entrepreneurs, love to travel, think fast, be on the move… yet, when it comes to our Junior-Enterprise’s mundane tasks we often struggle with them. What if all the boring and repetitive tasks could be suppressed? What if you could spend 100% of your time improving your Junior-Enterprise instead of simply running “things “ ? Like all of you, when Hadrien and I were members of our Junior-Enterprise (Centrale Conseil www.centrale-conseil.fr), we hade to deal with those issues and that is why we launched in June 2009 our own startup named SIAJE. SIAJE is an Information System specifically developed for Junior-Enterprises and available as a “Software As A Service” (SaaS). At this time we already had developed SIAJE for our own Junior-Enterprise and we noticed that most of the Junior-Enterprises around us did not have such a convenient tool (or they were trying, every year, again and again, to develop their own solution). We had the network among the Junior-Entrepreneurs, a potential market of 156 «clients» and a viable business model: SIAJE fees are only a percentage of the Junior-Enterprises’ turnover, this way they can all benefit from it. There was our business opportunity! Our initial objective was to convince 30 Junior-Enterprises to use our Information System. As of this week, nearly 50 of them have already joined us! What helped us improve SIAJE was that we spent (and we still do it) a great part of our time listening to Junior-Entrepreneurs in order to clearly understand their needs and provide them with tools to be more effective. The “client-first” strategy always works! Now that we have graduated we are seriously thinking about expanding to other countries. Stay tuned for more info about that! If we had only one advice to give you, it would be: “Just Do It !”. Remember how many things you have learned being a Junior-Entrepreneur. Imagine what you could accomplish (and learn) being an Entrepreneur! For more information about SIAJE, feel free to contact us (contact@siaje.com) or visit our website (siaje.com - in French only, for the time being) and our Facebook page (facebook.com/SIAJE). 9

What does ENLARGEMENT mean for JADE?
JADE
Lately the enlargement team has been busy working and following up with new initiatives contacts! These range from Slovenia, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina and Norway all the way to Togo, Tunisia and Morocco in Africa and India. Having a stronger and bigger network is very important and beneficial for us! We become more diverse, open up new opportunities of partnerships and knowledge partnerships, add new ideas to our network and of course gain access to new countries and markets opportunities. Not to mention that having a bigger group of young entrepreneurs from many different countries increases a lot our bargaining power every time we talk to a partner, public or civil institution. So JADE motto is not only motivational, this is really something that we do to strengthen our network!
