JADE EVENTS

Being a Junior Rocks: JEWC live report

270 of us, from over 15 different countries from 2 continents, all together in one big event, that’s something you don’t see everyday! Unless you get the chance to be part of the JEWC (Junior Enterprise World Conference). I was and, I think that was awesome!!! This edition was inspired by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation theme, with partners like TVN Media Group, ThinkYoung, JADE, Brasil Júnior, Intervieweb, Prospera and a strong support from the City di Milano, the administration of the Region of Lombardia and Università Bocconi, not to forget the sponsorship of Microsoft and Ice-Watch. Amazingly organized by JEME Bocconi, one of “my babies”, the meeting took place in Milan – Italy, for fast 4 days, from the 22nd to the 25th of July (even though for JADE and JEME that was quite a long hardcore week – not that they didn’t have fun with it too…) If you want information such as, what was the agenda, or the menu, that you won’t get out of me… You still can access the event’s webpage: www.jewc2010.com. I’m here to give you information about what happened as a survivor of the event… not the boring stuff! “Ah, the JEWC accommodated a unique atmosphere, people from the world with the same mind and the values of entrepreneurship, the congregation and meeting with successful business voices - impressive, the social events and exchange. Just imagine, I could meet people from Brazil and establish a valuable network we met this way, which we hadn't on a different way”. (Manuel Stoehr – alumni Germany) 3

…MORE JEWCY NEWS!

JADE EVENTS

…I went around thee confederations (as a good host) asking what they liked mostly from the whole meeting and I got even more excited!!! The best feature of the meeting for everyone, was the people! “The JEWC lacked a little bit of pre-event organization... the name of where the event would be held took a while to get published, some information got lost on the website...During the event, though, everything went smooth and great. It was organized, well structured and with nice workshops. Apart from all that, the people are one of the best parts ever. In the end, JEWC rocked big time and I cant wait for it to come to Brazil”. (João Paulo Raia Campos – Brasil Júnior)

Of course there were some compliments regarding the great discussions with the personalities who where on the panel, like Richard Straub, Senior Advisor to the Chairman IBM, like President of the Peter Drucker Society and Jean Pierre Lutgen, Entrepreneur, founder of ICE-Watch. The best time when the Greek confederation decided to go topless during the countries presentation in the closing ceremony and the Polish decided to share some buzz! “The JEWC was, undoubtfully, a complete success!! I personally had the opportunity to learn from Junior Entrepreneurs from many different countries and to exchange their opinions and points of view on what regards the work in a JE all over the globe or personal experiences. This was a unique occasion was a unique for meeting great exceptional people towards which now I have great admiration and would really really appreciate having one day as a co-worker. I have to thank the JE that made this event possible for the opportunity: JEME, who worked with passion and attention to give us, all participants, a memorable weekend”. (Lucia Genaro – President of JADE Italia)

NEW JADE ExBo 2011 who are they?

Lorenzo: “Work hard, party hard” He’s the rational voice of the team and the one that makes sure the team is always on track with the strategy and gives its best. He aims to reach as many companies as possible, “selling” our Network’s capacity to JADE partners and clients.

Michael: “The world’s one culture” Michael ‘s world is mostly reflecting German culture! Apart from control on expenses he is responsible to keep processes and organization of the team’s actions.

JADE ExBo 2011

Tzoanna: “JADE Knowledge. JE expertise.” Tzoanna will make sure our successes and achievements are getting out from our Network and to the right people. She is taking communication very seriously, so keep her happy by responding to her material requests.

Alessandro: “JEs: Exchange!” Alessandro knows the EU instruments and bodies better than the President of Brazil! Together with Tzoanna, these guys will keep us “sexy” on an EU level , always fighting for more recognition.

Felipe: “It’s all about results” Felipe is the one who will lead Confederations Development Program to an outcome of best practices and information about the network, so as for Junior Entrepreneurs to have a stronger and more sustainable representation on a national level.

Gustavo: “Achieve more” Gustavo is our key person for following up with Junior Enterprises that appear from all crazy parts of the world. He is the supportive leader of the Enlargement team. They “open their wings” to more markets to be discovered by our Junior Entrepreneurs and for them to cooperate with new potential colleagues.

Joanna: “Professionalism and Efficiency” Joanna is organizing the JADE Spring Meeting 2010, making sure the organisation of the event will be the best possible. The event goes external for the first time in JADE history! 5

After those activities, they tried many kinds of Pizzas and Pastas, which fully recharged them! They were ready to show the dark side of an entrepreneur, The Disco's Time! First General Assembly by new JADE ExBo 2011

“Our focus is to go external this year! “ That is the field we will work on the most for 2010-2011. All knowledge, all information, all success stories must go out to our stakeholders (e.g. media and partners) JADE Projects 2010-2011 will focus on cooperation and marketing. Some of the projects that our Network will run are: •JADE website improvement according to stakeholders •JADE Media Project •JE.NET Cooperation •Public Affairs •JADE Spring Meeting 2011 (“ Congress of Youth Entrepreneurship”) •World Confederation

6

Together we go External! For many years JADE Network has been working like an aquarium. No impact from outside, no great impact to the outside. The focus was to develop internally and to create a Network with common values and common goals. The vision was formed and the Confederations started a constant benchmarking to improve their weaknesses. In the recent years, having a good representation and a strong voice in front of EU Institutions and European Associations we achieved to be noticed and sometimes admired. When everyone is talking about Entrepreneurship Education, we give the solutions. When the talk is about youth successes we are there to show them who we are. But still the aquarium philosophy remains to be broken. Now it’s time to become a wild wave! To break our walls and be open to what the society and the economies call for. Don’t be afraid to take up the risk and adjust your services to new market fields. In addition, start selling your JE to your partners as a part of a whole Network, JADE, that represents 20,000 Junior Entrepreneurs in Europe! We are the leaders of tomorrow and this year together we go EXTERNAL! 7

Dear JADE, Let us introduce you to a new market…Albania! Find out about UNIque, the JE in Albania that is the new consultative member of JADE!

UNIque made also these people happy: OUR JADE ENLARGEMENT TEAM! The people who follow-up and support initiatives from all around the world!!

8

Unique as only UNIque can be Torino, October 2010. The General Assembly of JADE votes on the application of UNIque Junior Enterprise from Albania for Consultative Membership in JADE. The result is in favor of the admission; from the applicants the result is interpreted as a great sign to cherish and acknowledge the results already achieved in establishing the JE concept in Albania. UNIque Junior Enterprise was created as part of the project “Building Junior Enterprises in Southeastern Europe” from knowhow Junior Enterprise in Graz (Austria) which started in June 2006 and has been directed by Lindita Komani. In the course of this project also UNI Group in Kosovo was created. The project was accorded JADE Excellence Award in the category “Most Innovative Project” in the year 2008 and was selected also as a best practice among EU financed projects in the Creativity and Innovation year 2009 of the European Union. The first student group with the aim to create UNIque was created in Summer 2007 but it took until October 2009 to establish and register the organization as an association in Albania. Composed of 9 students from the fields of business, economics, law and IT, the team of UNIque has grown and is consolidating itself while performing on projects in the market research field..

One of these projects which aims at making Albania better known as a unique touristic and investment destination to JADE entrepreneurs and more, is being organized as an international project involving also JEs in other European countries. The enlargement project which has been taking place since the creation of the first student group, has already reached first results which are worth to be mentioned. Junior UBT, the second Junior Initiative in Albania was created as a junior enterprise at the University of Agricultural Studies in Tirana and has ever since received support by UNIque also with trainings, contacts and invitations to participate in projects. While working on consolidating itself as an association of students of the University of Tirana, UNIque in cooperation with Junior UBT, aims at proactively supporting the creation of a third JE at the Polytechnic University of Tirana during the year 2011 which would open the way to the creation of JADE Albania in the end of the year 2011. 9

Working on inner enhancement is now a top priority for the team members who are now working on organizing a recruitment campaign and preparing the General Assembly to elect the new board. Two of the potential future board members, Dimitri Saco and Orjola Alimadhi accompanied the actual president Lindita Komani to present the application of UNIque in Torino. The handover process which has started already in March 2010 has allowed Dimitri and Orjola to be thoroughly informed and involved in the development of the JE. Together with another member of the actual board, Irina Canco, they are expected to lead the JE towards new achievements. Lindita Komani will remain involved as trainer and project manager in the projects taking place and especially in the enlargement project as she is also member of JADE Enlargement team since its creation in May 2009.

As now also the Albanian JE movement grows together with JADE, UNIque team considers it an honor to spread the JE concept and to motivate young people in Albania to be part of the motto “Together we grow!. The commitment shown so far and the willingness to grow to become a respected member of the JADE network, motivates the members of UNIque to aim at applying soon for welcoming one of the future JADE events in the capital of Albania, Tirana. Gustavo Stelczyk, the project manager of the Enlargement Project, who visited Albania in the beginning of October with the aim to make the audit of UNIque, testified in front of the General Assembly not only on the development of UNIque but also on the beauty and qualities of Albania and Albanian people. While thanking again Gustavo for the kind impressions shared, UNIque team is looking forward to showing to all junior entrepreneurs in the network how unique Albania and the growing JE network in this Southeastern European country is.

JE.NET Cooperation Scoreboard Collaboration is a key driver of overall performance of companies around the world. According to surveys, its impact is twice as significant as a company’s aggressiveness in pursuing new market opportunities (strategic orientation) and five times as significant as the external market environment (market turbulence). We are lucky as JADE to promote this between our JEs and to open a collaboration with one of the BRIC countries, Brazil, that grows in a rate of 7%! Get access to the international business Network NOW! If JE.NET cooperation was a football match…

Score 95-47 “Where is Europe guys???? European JEs are double number than Brazilian ones and still you haven’t registered! In case you have doubts about this online platform please read the following article and register your JE today! In case you need help contact me at alessandro.falleiros@jadenet. org” 11

JE.NET Cooperation

Do you know JE.NET Cooperation? This is the new platform launched by Brasil Júnior and JADE in order to connect Junior Enterprises all over the world! This is the first step to have an impactful global network and to have the opportunity to have access to emergent economies, such as Brazil! JE.NET started with a simple platform of cooperation between Brasil Júnior and JADE but now is expanding. Do you want to know better about that? Please go through this article. JE.NET Cooperation’s webpage monthly attendances: 490 visits JADE and Brasil Júnior started in the last semester JE.NET development. After several hours working the platform was successfully implemented and launched in the last JADE Spring Meeting. This platform, after created was named JE.NET Cooperation. Since then, 159 Junior Enterprises have already registered themselves in the platform and 16 cooperation proposal’s were created inside it. And as a good sign, the first cooperation is already agreed, started and finished between J.E.To.P. (JADE Italy) and PS Júnior (Brasil Júnior).

With this result, after less than one year of implementation JADE and Brasil Júnior consider already a success the project. Lots of improvements still need to be done but we are sure that working together we will have for sure more and more cooperation between our members and good raise of numbers in our incomes, satisfaction of our clients, number of projects and personal growth. Currently Brasil Júnior has 95 registered JE’s (59% of all Brasil Júnior JE’s) and JADE has 64 registered JE’s (33% of all JADE JE’s). As JE.NET Cooperation wants to have at least 80% of all Junior Enterprises from both networks, we know that we have a lot to improve. Anyway, by the number of registered Junior Enterprises, so far Brasil Júnior 1 X 0 JADE. This year JADE intends to improve JE.NET as a whole, launching a company interface of its project. Not only cooperating with Junior Enterprises all over the globe in JE.NET Cooperation, but also having an outdoor for Junior Enterprises in international level for them to be able to be shown up for companies and to have commercial projects out of this platform. Also JE.NET Cooperation is been improved by using all the feedbacks sent, with improvements of better features and with the creation easier communication between JE’s with this platform. Do not miss this opportunity. If your Junior Enterprise is not yet registered in JE.NET, visit our webpage and join us! www.jadenet.org/jenet is waiting for you!

DID YOU KNOW…?

Ø Junior Enterprise is an example of best practice for practical education and development under the Lisbon Strategy: governing strategy of EU in 2000-2010. Ø “Facilitate the development of Junior Enterprises” is a key priority for Education and Youth Framework of EU2020 – governing strategy of EU in 2010-2020. Ø JADE is a best practice of an intermediary organization that brings universities and businesses together under EU Oslo Agenda for Entrepreneurship Education. Ø JADE is in the Steering Board of UNESCO Youth Committee for Higher Education.

China Júnior? It seems that the Brazilian Junior Enterprise Movement is growing together with the Brazilian country. As known as the Carnival, football and beaches country, Brasil has also a strong and amazingly growing JE Network. Brasil Júnior, the National Confederation, finished the census of the JE Network in the country, that is done once in each 2 years – and the results are great news! The Brazilian movement is getting bigger as the time goes by – registering about 20% growth in number of students and 35% in number of confederated JEs. This means more students on the University and less doing samba and Carnival in the streets (what is a pity for the tourists that will have less attractions to see, I should say).

Ø JADE is a stakeholder consultant for World Bank, World Economic Forum and EU. Ø JADE has good relations with the European Commission

13

Despite the students and JEs growth, showed above, the total turnover also became bigger. In fact, it almost duplicate from the census 2008 to the census 2010! But the number of R$ 8,5 million (4 million Euros), reached in 2010, is still far away from the European 16 million Euros reality. If we put this number into a Junior Enterprise Network GDP counting, comparing to the European movement numbers, we have the following results after a year of work: • Average amount of R$ 305,00 per capita generated by Brazilian JEs; • Average amount of 800€ per capita generated by the European JE Movement. (The local currency was kept for proper comparison purpose 1€=2.35 R$) Do you want to know more about this numbers? Contact the crazy Brazilians that are currently working in JADE as ambassadors for Brasil Junior thru the email ambassador@brasiljunior.org.br and find out more about Carnival, beach and more and more entrepreneurial country. After all, if Brasil Júnior keeps growing like that in the next years, soon the Junior Enterprise Network worldwide will have something like China in population, but in the matters of Junior Enterprises. 14

The BDSU congress 2010 Students and enterprises meet in Berlin

As the center of culture, science and history Berlin hosted this year’s national meeting of the BDSU, the German confederation of junior enterprises. The event run under the headline “be student, be consultant, be Berlin” and took place from 11th November until 14th November. It gives junior entrepreneurs and enterprises the chance to exchange expertise and create long-lasting relations in an exceptional atmosphere. Organized by a cross-national team, the congress offered for all 400 attendees an exciting and varied weekend. In workshops with renowned firms from the consulting, telecommunication or automotive sector, students got the opportunity to demonstrate their problem solving capabilities to future employers. Moreover a career fair gave students the chance to seek for enterprises that can reveal their high potential. The intention to achieve lively interaction between students and the industry was the main driving force of this event.

But beside “business as usual” the national meeting was a unique chance to meet other junior entrepreneurs and celebrate the common achievements. This half-yearly meeting is the heart of the BDSU community and reinforces the connectedness of the leading 30 JEs in Germany. Sightseeing tours and evening events rounded up the program to give visitors the chance to experience the beautiful city of Berlin and extend their personal networks. For both, business and students, the national BDSU congress was a welcomed occasion to strengthen the linkage between theory and practice. Author: Ariane Schmidt, Company Consulting Team Berlin e.V. In discussion sessions the junior entrepreneurs will see how they can combine several qualities of entrepreneurship. Beside all these interesting workshops and presentations there will be lots of informal activities to get to know each other better and have a good time. JADE France National Winter meeting : 27th-28th November

Only a few days before the greatest national meeting in Europe‌ As every year in France, CNJE will organize its winter national meeting! This event allows for every new JuniorEntrepreneur or alumni to discover or visit again a new side of France. Practically speaking this national meeting will take place in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, a city near La Rochelle, which welcomes this meeting every year. The 700 Junior-Entrepreneurs will have the chance to breathe the sea air, a good environment to learn a lot in order to advance their JuniorEntreprises! Therefore all French Junior-Entrepreneurs will take rendez-vous on the 27th and 28th of November in order to share both knowledge and fun.

Sharing knowledge and forming our JuniorEntrepreneurs is a very important point for CNJE. This national meeting is the greatest way for everybody to learn a lot about processes in Junior-Entreprises. The first event of this kind will offer lots of training session to all Junior-Entrepreneurs. They will have to choose amongst around 40 subjects going from treasury, legal topics or association management to international or communication trainings.

In the first morning and simultaneously to these trainings, the second general assembly of France will take place. Generally speaking, capital decisions to enhance the movement will be made by all Junior-Entreprises. Moreover, very interestingly, a plenary session will be organized at the end of the training sessions. After having presented the various partners, all the Junior-Entrepreneurs will have the chance to discover the whole new events and projects from the CNJE board. However such a national meeting is not only synonymous of working. Indeed, many activities will be proposed to our JuniorEntrepreneurs. Eventually, to conclude the weekend, a gala dinner will be organized on Saturday night. Obviously, the partying mood will not prevent all the Junior-Entrepreneurs from sharing their experiences one last time before the departure.
