the aroma m perfume story. we leverage a master indie-perfumer to expand her offering. challenge. maria mcelroy has been a perfumer since the 1980’s,capitvating retail buyers at bergdorf goodman, takashimaya, qvc and global boutiques and spas to showcase her line of japan-inspired, all-natural fragrances. her request and our goal was to create new opportunities that showcased maria as a master perfumer to pave the way for her expanded collections. solutions. results. product development. we developed new perfumes with storylines…immortal beloved perfume was the companion to a goddess coloring book; poca, pinga and abundantia perfumes expanded the goddess collection. introductions. we introduced maria to our partner, brand expert, john favreau who took the collection to hsn, we secured a coveted meeting with the buyers at abc carpet + home. we introduced the collection to cornelia spa at the surrey who featured it and hosted two events, one which featured 3 rooms, each showcasing a place-based perfume, rome, marrakech and kyoto. media. new york lifestyles feature; elle magazine; fragrantica.com events. maria’s perfumes were featured at a perfume launch at the university of arizona museum of art gala…a pop-up shop at the elegant showroom, ornare for the brazil foundation… a goddess picnic in nyc with the mindbodyspirit network. partnerships. we introduced maria to the travel & leisure preferred travel specialist, award-winning travel company, epic road, and now a trip to morocco to make custom perfumes is a part of their offerings.

the natural products expo story. granola, bland rice cakes or even scary seaweed become a cutting edge, consumer-driven industry trend. healthy food goes mass. challenges. for americans, the prevailing image of “natural foods” had been hippy health food stores, granola, bland rice cakes or even scary things like “seaweed.” 3000 natural product vendors at the natural products expos, two expos on both coasts of the us, proved otherwise. as the press office and educational program designers for these trade shows that are attended by an international audience, our goals were to: 1. 2.

counter negative imagery of healthy food and supplement claims showcase the experts who were the leading experts of their fields 3.

solutions. we created story categories, identified the vendors that told it best and pitched specific stories to specific media outlets. identifying trend leaders: we identified key trends from beauty to pet foods to clothing to exotic products to entirely new categories of gourmet or international foods. content experts: educational forums highlighted experts. experience: tasting farmer’s market: the most popular part of the show, trade and consumers could sample products in an outdoor farmer’s market, was the highlight of the “natural and good” message of the show. results. trade media coverage of the show was extensive within the beauty, lifestyle, health, food, and beverage sectors and consumer press ranged from local morning show segments at the farmer’s market to dateline doing a special on longtime fitness expert, jack lalanne, to msnbc squawkbox, the lempert report on consumer trends to international tv crews covering the slow food movement. stories in the natural foods trade publications added to the solid media coverage.

the flawless foundation story. from media-shy nyc educator to national platform expert on mental health messaging. challenge. janine francolini is the founder of flawless foundation, seeking to see the perfection in every child. as the spokesperson of the foundation, she is a mental health advocate for the foundation, whose mission is to revolutionize the way the world perceives brain health, and to promote holistic prevention and treatment of mental health challenges. janine works alongside emotional intelligence advocates from dr. stuart ablon and dr. marc brackett of the yale center for emotional intelligence; to lady gaga's born this way foundation and even being a sponsor of the kennedy forum, which works to transform the ways addiction and mental health are treated in the health care system. while janine’s background is as an educator, as her profile grew and mental health advocacy transforms minute by minute, she relies on us for consultation on her strongest brand and messaging.

the dr. renee story. “mom psychologist” into a national tv medical expert. challenge: we first met child psychologist, dr. renee clauselle backstage at a tv station, where she was about to go on camera, completely nervous. we gave her some on the spot expert tips to calm down and in the next weeks we began to work together. solutions: we coached dr. renee on her branding, style, and media outreach and recreated her brand presentation to match her expertise. from her website to photo shoots to social media, we amped up dr. renee’s self-esteem, style and platforms. we helped her see the relevancy of her viewpoint and how best to share it. we tuned into issues of children in the news cycles and seasonal parenting woes and placed dr. renee’s quotes in parenting, lifestyle and wellness media. She was featured on radio and tv news such as abc news now and good morning america to satellite radio segments on martha stewart radio xm. online and print placements include wide-reach platforms such as sheknows.com to prevention magazine. results: pictures speak a thousand words. from a shy mom to a very confident (+ frequently called back) media presenter.

the luxottica. sunglass hut story. a brand migrates from cheap shades for surfer dudes to $300. chanel sunglasses and the health message of uv protection. challenges. luxottica, the world’s largest manufacturer of eyewear collections for armani, bulgari, chanel, prada and versace and classic brands such as persol and ray ban, purchased sunglass hut, the us retail mall shop and airport kiosk venues featuring sport brands and mainstream looks. with the new added designer luxury brands, the challenge was to convey brand’s fashionable new approach to the fashion accessory editors and the consumers who equated the brand name with surfer dudes. solutions. editor perks: twelve months of creative and themed monthly gifts to select top fashion editors reenforced the message. sunglasses and one other lavish gift were paired to tell the brand story. style segments on tv such as good day ny and new york 1 positioned the brand as the place to get the same “chanel sunglasses at the top of the holiday wish lists of the stars.” we successfully pitched the today show on making rockefeller center into a huge real beach to talk with our lifeguard spokesperson on sun safety for eyes. a successful manhattan store opening without a party: key magazine editors were sent “the post party revival kit,” black tube packages with specially designed graphics offering solutions to surviving an imagined high-voltage party such as a certificate for pair of sunglasses through a private shopping experience, aspirins, a gel-filled eye mask and a starbucks gift certificate. editors loved the idea resulting in increased editorial placements. original concept: fashion week presence: we designed the sunglass hut swim designer awards at genart’s la fashion week with a panel of judges from major media such as wwd and a runway show featuring the hottest new swimwear designers and sunglasses. garnering press in california apparel news, wwd and 20/20, the event was the forerunner to sunglass hut’s sponsorship of the swim shows during miami’s fashion week. results. we doubled the media hits in one year and solidly established sunglass hut as a source and credit for designer sunglasses with top fashion press including associated press style file, cnn, cosmopolitan, harpers bazaar, instyle, lucky, men’s journal, real simple, self, the today show and usa today among many others.

the slow luxury, textiles scotland + fraser balgowan story. “slow luxury”: a buzz word for handbags…and a country. the legacy of the scottish highlands holds a strong and romantic place in luxury, as scottish textiles and craft are utilized by top luxury brands, such as chanel and burberry. textiles and materials based in scotland represent an organic, earthy connection, and a tradition that speaks to a timeless sense of style. on the cutting edge of sustainable thought, enter fiona fraser, a designer with an urban sensibility, who, by marriage to a 3rd generation deerstalker, found herself on a farm in the wilds of the scottish highlands. their love for stewardship of the land and quest for the finest led to the idea of luxury handbags from wild-crafted deer, part of scotland’s timeless and sustainable land management practices. challenges. while the brand was enthusiastically bought by saks, some us editors surprisingly responded that they could only think of “bambi.” they could not understand the concept. solutions. we invented the name “slow luxury” to describe this new way to value luxury, enabling the public to grasp the newer idea of sustainable as applied to leather. • a breakfast for editors introduced the bags to the us. editors included: avenue; the daily; town & country; urban daddy; wall street journal; and vogue. meetings with wwd and huffington post’s stylist followed. celebrity event planner, david beahm, hosted a cocktail party in nyc for his high-end clients and editors. • events: stateside, we also made introductions at the’ united nation’s fashion-4-development and key movers in the sustainable fashion realm, including livia firth and vogue eic, franca sozzani. we hosted a special tastemaker cocktail at a saks fifth avenue trunk show, with editors from esquire and huffington post stylist attending. resulting in: textile scotland, the industry group, sponsors the slow luxury press trip to the 5-star gleneagles resort in scotland with its top luxury manufacturers.
