Body Armour
I designed and constructed a shirt, this shirt was inspired by the textures and shapes of the body and how its organs are protected. Further research and developed lead to the ‘Body Armour’ concept. I was involved in a group project which was also inspired by the body. A dress was designed and constructed using recycled materials from previous students. Inspiration for the dress was taken from an exhibition that we visited ‘Body Worlds’.

ADDING THE HARD STUFF A suitcase filled with spontaneous, fun and party swimwear for the fearless young women of today. These young women continue to travel to party locations each year, and want convenient clothing, light luggage and a good time. A flight no longer has to be boring due to these ‘carry on cocktails’. Women are now “free to cocktail about the cabin”. Adding The Hard Stuff was inspired by the ability to create cocktails onboard a flight by mixing the contents with alcohol. The party continues into the designs of the versatile and convenient swimwear. The adaptable swimwear can be worn on multiple occasions due to the reversable fabric. The colours are influenced by the bright and eye-catching atmosphere of the party world.

This project involved the observation of colours, shapes, textures and the movements of animals and insects. Odonata S/S ‘16 is inspired by the shapes and textures of dragonflies.
SALT – The Grainger Market Issue
Working as part of a team to create a successful publication was extremely enjoyable and exciting. Adobe InDesign was used to develope this magazine that explores the biggest indoor market in the North East. This niche publication shares fun anecdotes of real people and looks at encouraging people to support local businesses.
