Whlle being surrounded by K-pop in my teenage years, I saw new boy idol called ‘BIGBANG.’ I watched their first music video called “Dirty Cash” and fell in love by their cheerful, humorous, and stylish appearances. I explored more BIGBANG’s music and have become a true fan girl since 2006.
BIGBANG is a South Korean boy band with five members including G-Dragon (leader), Tae Yang, TOP, DaeSung, and Seungri. They care about quality of music, which is why they have maintained their fame and reputation. BIGBANG also highlight their distinctive personalities from each person’s singing and fashion style forming a diverse, unique group. They are very experimental with composing their own music while many other K-pop groups have consistent and similar style of music. Although BIGBANG has originally started with hip-hop genre, they have been able to fuse pop with many genres such as rap, R&B, hip-hop, house and electro. BIGBANG has reached out the world performing from Asia to Europe to Americas and has become one of the most internationally recognized iconic boy band. They have made it to the Billboard charts and have collaborated with western artists such as Baauer, Missy Elliot, Sky Ferreira, Pixie Lott, Diplo, Grimes, and Nelly Furtado.
Exression of sketchy textures of crayon portray their individuality, being able to create their own colorful music, and standing out in the mainstreams of Korean music. Collection of music box consists of albums from early period “ALWAYS” (2007), mid period “ALIVE” (2012) and recent “MADE” (2015). It shows how their experience in music and style developed through 10 years.
First album, “ALWAYS” is about love expressed in retro sounds. “Lies” was a hit song composed by G-Dragon that helped BIGBANG to officially reach many fans in Korea. G-Dragon made it unique by adding touch of electronic with faster tempo while maintaining the sad emotion.

Final album, “MADE” promotes a range of emotions for the public. “Sober” is an upbeat song to cheer up exhausted people today. In contrast, “Let’s not fall in love” is a relationship from growing for fear of breaking lover’s heart. “Loser” puts effort to humanize the group by discussing their flaws. “Bang Bang Bang,” has an anarchistic theme with exciting beat which pumps up the environment. All of the 8 songs in the album were featured between number 1 and 2 in Billboard’s World Digital Songs.
