1980,81 and 82 - Louis I Kahn Award instituted by Vastu Shilpa Foundation, Ahmedabad by BV Doshi, India. The awards were for study of architecture of Vellore and documentation of Lower Fort Gingee. 1984 - Sir Herbert Henry Bartlett Scholarship,UCL. The Award is to study and document 1806 mutiny of Vellore and listing of tombs of central cemetery. 1993 - Academy of Architecture Award, Paris France for the work done on Maisons Alfort Charenton Paris 1995 - Erode Mosque nominated for The Aga Khan Award for Architecture – 1995 Cycle.

2015 – Nominated for AAA Visionary Award New Zealand

The first fully executed house with a courtyard and wind catcher. The house reflects the monumental character with the surrounding This houseand incorporated landscape the influence ofan the“Inner Fort. Courtyard” with a

water fountain and a “Wind catcher”

These wind catchers are common in South Indiaparticularly in coastal areas. A visit to one of the towns in late 1985 inspired the idea….

The house reflects the character of Hameed House and incorporates Wind Catchers. A strong influence of late modernism (Brutalism) could This renovated be seen in these house works. incorporates “Wind catchers”

that are effective for the climatic conditions- strong influence in “modern principles” could be noticed here

Brief Biography Jaffer AA Khan is a gold medalist in Architecture from the University of Madras in 1983. He was awarded the most prestigious Aga Khan Scholarship Geneva to do his graduation at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, UCL,University of London in 1985. Back home he started his practice in 1985 and has designed nearly 300 buildings many of them award winning at national and international level. His projects are widely published and nominated to The Aga Khan Award during 1995 cycle (ErodeMosque-Periagraharam Erode-MIT Digital Archives). He maintains studios in Bangalore and Chennai and recently executed large residential projects in Bangalore. He has been a writer, critic and an academician apart from professional practice for quarter century and has written some hard hitting articles on Environment, Heritage and Philosophy. He was Professor and Head of School at MIDAS-Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi , affiliated to Anna University from 2011-2015 He is a member of some of the world's most prestigious professional bodies including The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA),UK ,Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts(RSA),London and the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), NSW, Australia. He presently lives in Auckland, New Zealand and teaches at Dar Al Hekma University KSA
