Gemeentemuseum Den Haag Een unieke collectie schilderijen van Piet Mondriaan, een fraaie zilvercollectie en minutieus gedecoreerd Delfts Blauw. Kijk via de plakbandjes hoe Mondriaan zijn onafgemaakte 'Victory Boogie Woogie' had bedoeld. Ruik bijna de zee bij het realistische werk van de Haagse zeeschilders. Al vier eeuwen is Den Haag de woonen werkplaats van de Oranjes. Die lange vorstelijke historie is overal tastbaar aanwezig. Omringd door boetiekjes en galeries ligt Paleis Noordeinde, het werkpaleis van koning Willem-Alexander. Aan de wapperende vlag op het dak zie je of de koning aan het werk is. Het paleis is niet open voor publiek. De paleistuin aan de achterzijde is wel gewoon te bezoeken.

Noordeinde Palace De Pier van Scheveningen is weer open! Het is weer mogelijk om te genieten van het geweldige uitzicht op zee en lekker ouderwets te 'pierewaaien'. Op zowel het beneden- als het bovendek en het Zuidereiland zijn kiosken en terrassen gevestigd met vernieuwende food-, drinken shoppingconcepten. Een soort foodtruck festival maar dan het hele jaar door. Op de Pier vinden regelmatig evenementen en markten plaats. En rond mei start de bouw van het immense reuzenrad van waaruit je niet alleen een prachtig uitzicht hebt over stad en strand, maar waar dineren ook tot de mogelijkheden behoort!

Fotografie ontmoet schilderkunst in de 19de eeuw toont hoe de opkomst van de landschapsfotografie het werk van de Barbizon-schilders beïnvloedde en vice versa. U ziet onder meer bruiklenen uit het Musée d’Orsay die niet eerder in Nederland waren te bezichtigen. The 19th century invention of photography and landscape photography in particular, had a profound impact on the work of the Barbizon-painters. And vice versa. This impact is on show in the carefully selected exhibition Nature’s picture. Photography meets painting in the 19th century. Among other works, there are loans from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris which have never been on display in the Netherlands.

Kijkduin

The kids w ill love it !

Kijkduin is veel kleinschaliger dan Scheveningen, maar dit heeft ook juist z'n charme. Op het Deltaplein tref je een grote diversiteit aan winkels en restaurants aan en de terrassen langs de boulevard hebben een mooi uitzicht op de zee. Als je even de rust wilt opzoeken, ben je binnen enkele minuten in de duinen. De ideale plek voor een flinke wandeling of fietstocht. Ook voor kinderen is er genoeg te doen. Op zaterdag- en zondagmiddag kun je Ome Jan en Hulpjutter Rob vinden bij hun Jutterskeet. Behalve als het slecht weer is natuurlijk, want dan moet er gejut worden!

Kijkduin Het Zuiderstrand is één van de mooiste stukjes Den Haag. Onder Hagenaars staat het ook wel bekend als het stille strand. En met recht. Strandpaviljoen De Staat is een vrijplaats voor levensgenieters. Hier eet je heerlijk biologisch met vrij uitzicht op de ondergaande zon, terwijl kitesurfers voor je neus hun kunsten vertonen. Speciaal aan De Fuut zijn de jazzconcerten en het is de 'thuishaven' van kunstenaar Theo Jansen die hier regelmatig werkt aan één van zijn spectaculaire Strandbeesten. Gotcha Beach is het strandpaviljoen bij Kijkduin waar je gewoon lekker kunt eten en feesten. Een relaxte sfeer en een heerlijk vakantiegevoel gaan hand in hand op het Zwarte Pad aan het Noorderstrand. Minder toeristisch dan de boulevard, gaat ook de Haagse bevolking hierheen voor een heerlijke stranddag. Bij Boomerang Beach Club kom je snel in ontspannen sferen. Hier hebben ze heerlijke loungebedden op het terras en kun je ook Suppen (Stand Up Paddle). Beachclub El Niño Beach aan de boulevard is een sfeervol strandpaviljoen waar je heerlijke tapas, fingerfood en mediterraanse gerechten kunt krijgen.

Beach bar De Staat is a haven for lovers of life. Eat organic produce here with an undisturbed view of the setting sun, while kite surfers show off their skills. Unique to De Fuut are its jazz concerts. De Fuut is also the permanent home port of artist Theo Jansen, who can regularly be seen working here on one of his spectacular Beach Beasts. Gotcha Beach is a beach bar at Kijkduin that offers delicious dining and partying! A laid-back atmosphere and a fabulous holiday feeling go hand in hand at Zwarte Pad on the Noorderstrand! Less touristy than the boulevard, the locals from the area also come here to enjoy a great day at the beach. Boomerang Beach Club on the Zwarte Pad will quickly put you in a relaxed mood. They have wonderful loungers on the terrace and you can also go Supping (Stand Up Paddle). Willemsvaart Boottochten in de binnenstad en tussen stad en strand, met van maart tot en met november dagelijks de ‘Strand Relax’ vanuit de binnenstad naar het strand. Haagse hofjes / Hague courtyards Een kwart van de Haagse bevolking woonde 150 jaar geleden nog in een hofje. Met meer dan 100 hofjes is Den Haag met recht een echte 'hofstad'. De bekendste en mooiste hofjes zijn onder andere het Hof van Nieuwkoop, het Hof van Wouw en het Rusthof. De gids vertelt tijdens de Hofjeswandeling (circa 2 uur) alles over de diverse hofjes die Den Haag rijk is. Hoftrammm tram restaurant The Hoftrammm, Holland’s first riding tram restaurant, is officially on the rails in The Hague as from 24 April 2014. This tram, thats is conferted into a fully equiped restaurant, rides through the Court City, while you can enjoy a delicious, four-course dinner cooked by former TV chef Pierre Wind. Hoftrammm runs at specific times, between the standard HTM public transport timetable, and a tour takes a minimum of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Openbaar vervoer in Den Haag en omgeving

Den Haag beschikt over een uitstekend openbaar vervoer. Een groot aantal bus- en tramlijnen (zie pag. 96-97) brengt je naar je bestemming in Den Haag en de randgemeenten Voorburg, Delft, Rijswijk, Wateringen, Nootdorp, Leidschendam en Zoetermeer. OV-chipkaart Om te kunnen reizen met een OVchipkaart moet je voldoende geld (saldo) op je OV-chipkaart zetten. Daarna check je in en uit bij de kaartlezers in tram of bus. Bij de HTM Servicepunten op Den Haag Centraal Station en Station Hollands Spoor kun je geld op je OVchipkaart zetten, OV-chipkaarten en reisproducten kopen. Geen OV-chipkaart? Koop dan de dagkaart voor 1 dag onbeperkt reizen met HTM voor € 6,50 bij de trambestuurder, in de automaat in de tram, bij een HTM Servicepunt of bij de VVV. Meer informatie: 0900 4864636 (gebruikelijke belkosten) ma-vrij 7-22, za 8-22, zon 9-22. 3 Day The Hague Travelcard Dit is een los kaartje waarmee vanaf de eerste check-in drie dagen onbeperkt met de tramlijnen van HTM en de buslijnen van HTM-buzz gereisd kan worden (niet geldig op de HTM Nachtbuzz). Bij het kaartje ontvang je een overzicht van de toeristische attracties en de tramen buslijnen. De kaart kost € 16,50 en is verkrijgbaar bij de HTM Servicepunten, de VVV en diverse hotels, B&B's en vakantieparken.

Kinder Dagkaart Voor kinderen (4-11 jaar) koop je voordelig een Kinder Dagkaart voor € 2,50 (actietarief tot 1 juli: € 1,50). Dit kaartje koop je bij een HTM Servicepunt of bij de VVV. NachtNet Op vrijdag- en zaterdagnacht rijdt de HTM Nachtbuzz. Vanaf het Buitenhof vertrekken zes buslijnen door Den Haag, Zoetermeer, Delft, Rijswijk, Voorburg en Leidschendam. Kaarten zijn alleen verkrijgbaar in de Nachtbuzz voor € 5,-.  htm.nl

Public transport in The Hague and surroundings The Hague boasts an excellent public transport. Over 30 bus and tram lines (see page 96-97) will quickly and safely take you to your destinations in The Hague, as well as to the adjoining municipalities of Voorburg, Rijswijk, Wassenaar, Wateringen, Leidschendam and Delft. RandstadRail offers excellent light rail connections to Zoe-termeer and Rotterdam. OV chip card The OV chip card, a pre-paid swipe card system, can be purchased from The Hague Central Station, Hollands Spoor Station and the Tourist Information Office. The OV chip card is not restricted to a particular area, but can be used throughout the Netherlands on all trains, bus and tram lines. At the start of your journey, you hold your card up to the screen and at

the end, you check out by holding your card up to the gate screen. Don't have an OV chip card? Then buy the HTM day pass for 1 day of unlimited travel with HTM. from the tram driver, the machine in the tram, an HTM Service Point or from the Tourist Information Office. More information: 0900 4864636 (standard rate) Mo-Fr 7-22, Sa 8-22, Su 9-22. 3 Day The Hague Travelcard This is a separate ticket that can be used for unlimited travel with HTM tramlines and HTMbuzz bus lines (not valid on the HTM Nachtbuzz) for 3 days from the first check-in. The ticket also comes with a convenient overview of all tram and bus lines and tourist attractions. Parking in The Hague Parkeren in Den Haag

In The Hague and Scheveningen paid parking applies from 09 AM to 12 PM on weekdays and on Fridays and Saturdays from 09 AM to 02 AM the next morning. For tourists it is much easier and cheaper to park in one of the car parks. The Hague and Scheveningen also have an extensive network of trams and buses. They will often get you to your destination quicker than if you go by car. In Den Haag en Scheveningen geldt betaald parkeren van 9 uur ’s ochtends tot middernacht en op vrijdag en zaterdag van 9 uur ’s ochtends tot 2 uur de volgende morgen. Voor toeristen is het veel makkelijker en goedkoper te parkeren in een van de parkeergarages en –terreinen. In Den Haag en Scheveningen is een uitgebreid netwerk van trams en bussen. Bereikbaarheid Den Haag ligt aan twee snelwegen: de A4 (uit Rotterdam en Amsterdam) en de A12 (uit Utrecht. Vanaf de snelweg sta je met de auto al na twee verkeerslichten in het centrum van Den Haag. Volg hiervoor de borden met Centrumring. Deze route voert om het autoluwe centrum en leidt naar de dichtstbijzijnde parkeergarages waar nog plaatsen vrij zijn. Het goedkoopste is de auto te parkeren in een parkeergarage aan de Centrumring. In totaal liggen er meer dan 20 parkeergarages en -terreinen aan deze route. De tarieven van deze parkings variëren van € 2,- tot € 4,per uur en € 20,- tot € 30,- euro per etmaal. De meeste parkeergarages zijn 24 uur per dag geopend. Voor parkeren op straat in de binnenstad moet je betalen. Dit geldt vanaf de ochtend tot middernacht, in het weekend tot 2.00 uur. Bij alle parkeerautomaten kan met pinpas, creditcard of mobiele telefoon worden betaald. Kijkduin Vanaf de snelweg ben je via afrit Den Haag Zuid-West zo in Kijkduin. Hier kun je gratis parkeren. P+R = Park & Ride Bespaar tijd en geld en parkeer de auto bij een P+R. Je vermijdt daarmee files naar de binnenstad en het kost minder parkeergeld. P+R Hoornwijck P+R Hoornwijck (Laan van Hoornwijck 55) ligt ter hoogte van Rijswijk. Parkeren plus een OV-dagkaart voor 4 personen kost € 4,- (in het weekend en 's avonds € 2,-). Neem vanaf hier tram 15 naar Station Hollands Spoor of Den Haag Centraal Station en binnen een kwartier sta je in het centrum!

P+R Station Ypenburg Vanuit de richting Gouda/Utrecht over de A12 is de P+R naast Station Ypenburg een handige optie. Hier kun je gratis parkeren en vervolgens reis je met de trein binnen acht minuten naar Den Haag Centraal Station. Handig: het terrein heeft enkele oplaadpunten voor elektrische auto's.

Scheveningen For the beach at Scheveningen you should follow the signs for Scheveningen Bad or Scheveningen Haven. It takes approx. 10 minutes to drive there. P+R De Uithof Visitors travelling from the direction of Westland can park free in the car park at De Uithof (Jaap Edenweg 10). RandstadRail takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the centre of The Hague.

Naar en van Den Haag per vliegtuig of trein Amsterdam Airport Schiphol en Rotterdam-The Hague Airport liggen dichtbij Den Haag en zijn per openbaar vervoer goed bereikbaar. Vanaf Rotterdam-The Hague Airport reis je per Airport Shuttle tot halte Meijersplein en verder met metrolijn E (RandstadRail) naar Den Haag Centraal Station. Bij de AKO-shop op de luchthaven kun je een OV-chipkaart aanschaffen. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport heeft een goede verbinding naar Den Haag per trein.
