Trots op Den Haag Ik woon met ontzettend veel plezier in Den Haag. Dus kan ik u uit de grond van mijn hart vertellen hoe geweldig de stad is. Met een kustlijn van 11 kilometer, van Scheveningen tot Kijkduin, hebben we een unieke ligging aan zee. De stad kent vele veel leuke festivals - groot en klein. En wat te denken van iconen als het 'Meisje met de parel' in het Mauritshuis, het internationaal bekende Vredespaleis of het Binnenhof, al eeuwenlang het hart van onze democratie. Maar Den Haag heeft meer. Ik wandel graag door de stad, omdat het dé manier is om met inwoners en ondernemers in gesprek te raken. Nog steeds ontdek ik verborgen plekjes, gezellige pleintjes en prachtige architectuur. Den Haag is de stad met veel groen en prachtige parken. Proud of The Hague I truly enjoy living in The Hague. That is why I can wholeheartedly express how great the city is. With an 11-kilometre coastline, from Scheveningen to Kijkduin, we are situated in a unique location by the sea. The city has many fun festivals, small as well as big ones, and of course many icons, such as the 'Girl with the Pearl Earring' in the Mauritshuis, the worldfamous Peace Palace and the Binnenhof, which is our centuries-old centre of democracy. But The Hague has even more to offer. I love walking through the city because it's the best way to meet and chat with residents and entrepreneurs. I still discover new places, cosy plazas and beautiful architecture. The Hague is a city with a lot of green and beautiful parks, and the most important thing: residents who are very engaged and will openly welcome you to their city. Stad aan zee Scheveningen, Kijkduin, het Zuiderstrand ertussen: maar liefst 11 kilometer kust geeft Den Haag vier seizoenen lang iets extra's ten opzichte van andere Nederlandse grote steden en in een kwartiertje sta je in de historische binnenstad. Er is altijd wat leuks te doen: op de Pier, in het reuzenrad, of tijdens festivals. Maar je kunt natuurlijk ook naar de surfschool, flaneren over de boulevard of lekker uitwaaien langs de vloedlijn. Madurodam
City by the sea
Miniatuurstad Madurodam laat vier seizoenen lang de verhalen achter vele Hollandse miniatuurgebouwen tot leven komen. Er is veel te zien en vooral veel te doen. Zoals leren vliegen als een piloot op Schiphol. Of een schip met containers laden in de haven van Rotterdam. In de attractie 'Nieuw-Amsterdam' ga je terug in de tijd en beleef je héél even de spanning van de 17e eeuw. Je stapt aan boord van het schip De Vergulde Bever en vaart van Amsterdam naar Nieuw-Amsterdam, het huidige New York. Op het stadsplein vuur je kanonnen af en beleef je de keuze die Peter Stuyvesant moest maken voor het behoud van de stad. De nieuwe attractie Waterwolf is een interactieve show over Nederlands meest indrukwekkende overwinning op het water: de drooglegging van het Haarlemmermeer.

Koninklijk Den Haag
The city has been the living and working residence of the House of Orange for four centuries. You might encounter them on the street or shopping in one of 'their' stores. Noordeinde Palace is situated on one of The Hague's most elegant shopping streets. If King Willem-Alexander is present, the flag is raised at the palace. During the summer months, part of the palace is open to the public for a brief period.
Al vier eeuwen in Den Haag de woon- en werkstad van de Oranjes. Je kunt ze zomaar tegenkomen op straat of in één van 'hun' winkeltjes. Paleis Noordeinde ligt één van de meest elegante winkelstraten van Den Haag. Als de koning aanwezig is, wappert de vlag op het paleis. In de zomerperiode is een gedeelte van het paleis korte tijd geopend voor publiek.
Hidden between Noordeinde Palace, the Royal Stables, and the Royal Archives is the Palace Garden. The park is accessible via the Prinsessewal and a walk there is definitely worthwhile! The Hague city centre still has the great allure of a royal city. There are historic monuments everywhere, residential and working palaces, regal routes and horse-drawn carriages. Many times a year, on a Wednesday morning, newly appointed ambassadors arrive at Noordeinde Palace to present their letters of credence to the King. This is accompanied by great ceremony.

Beelden aan Zee Museum lies concealed in the dunes of Scheveningen. Wander across the patios and terraces and witness how modern and contemporary sculpture has found a unique spot. The building is dug into a dune, with the rear facing away from vibrant Scheveningen boulevard. The majority of pieces date from the latter half of the 20th century. Mankind - the human image - forms the leitmotief in the collection of Beelden aan Zee, which contains works from a wide diversity of sculptors.

9 Mauritshuis The Mauritshuis is home to the finest Dutch paintings from the Golden Age. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's 'Girl with the Pearl Earring', the 'Self-Portrait' by Rembrandt, 'The Goldfinch' by Fabricius and 'The Bull' by Potter are permanently on display in the intimate museum rooms of this seventeenth-century listed building. Landscapes by Ruysdael, still lifes by Coorte, portraits by Rubens and interiors by Jan Steen give a rich and varied impression of painting in the seventeenth century. Panorama Mesdag Panorama Mesdag is an absolutely unique experience. Look 360o around you and experience the magical optical illusion created by this panorama of Scheveningen from 1881. From an artificial dune in the middle of the room, visitors feel as if they are standing on top of the Seinpost dune (dating from 1881) looking out across the sea and the beach. The canvas has an impressive surface area of 1,680 m2 and was painted by Hendrik Willem Mesdag.

Panorama Mesdag Panorama Mesdag is een absoluut unieke ervaring. Kijk 360o in het rond en onderga de magische illusie van het zins begoochelende panorama van Scheveningen uit 1881. Vanaf een kunstmatig opgeworpen duin in het midden van het pand heeft de bezoeker een uitzicht alsof hij op het in 1881 afgegraven Seinpostduin stond en over de zee en het strand uitkeek. Het doek heeft een oppervlakte van maar liefst 1.680 m2 en is geschilderd door Hendrik Willem Mesdag.

Met de bouw, ruim honderd jaar geleden, werd een stevig fundament gelegd voor Den Haag als internationale stad van Vrede en Recht. With the Peace Flame behind you, admire the most photographed building in The Hague: the Peace Palace. Constructed over a hundred years ago, the building created a foundation for The Hague as the International City of Peace and Justice. The exhibition (free admission) at the visitors' centre is highly recommended for those who would like to find out more about the establishment of the Peace Palace, and the history of peace and justice.

11 Museum Escher in Het Paleis Op de kop van het Lange Voorhout staat het kleine 18de-eeuws paleisje van koningin Emma dat tegenwoordig is gewijd aan het werk van M.C. Escher. Deze graficus weet jong en oud te boeien met zijn 'onmogelijke' voorstellingen zoals 'Dag en Nacht', waarin vogels uit Hollandse weiden groeien en 'Klimmen en dalen', waarin rijen mensen in een oneindige lus trappen op- en aflopen. Zijn fantasierijke constructies, die in werkelijkheid onmogelijk gebouwd kunnen worden, zijn een spel van gezichtsbedrog en perspectief. De tweede etage is veranderd in een interactieve wereld. Hier lijken muren te bewegen en lijken kinderen groter dan hun ouders!
Gemeentemuseum Den Haag Met de grootste collectie ter wereld is het Gemeentemuseum de internationale thuishaven van Piet Mondriaan. In de Mondriaan & De Stijl-vleugel is te zien hoe Piet Mondriaan zich ontwikkelt van getalenteerd landschapsschilder tot pionier van de moderne kunst waarbij zijn 'Boogie Woogie' natuurlijk het hoogtepunt vormt. Gemeentemuseum Den Haag staat ook bekend om zijn veelzijdige collectie toegepaste kunst, mode en moderne en hedendaagse beeldende kunst. In de bonte verzameling toegepaste kunst neemt Delfts aardewerk een prominente plaats in. Het schitterende Art Decogebouw is ervoor gemaakt om je al dwalend te laten verrassen door topstukken van internationale kunstenaars als Picasso, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Monet en Constant.
Museum Escher in The Palace At the end of Lange Voorhout you will find the small 18th-century palace of Queen Emma that is now dedicated to the work of M.C. Escher. This graphic artist wows young and old with his 'impossible' creations, such as 'Day and Night' in which birds seem to grow from Dutch meadows, and 'Ascending and descending' in which rows of people walk up and down stairs in an infinite loop. His imaginative constructions, which in reality are impossible to build, are a play of optical illusion and perspective. The second floor has been transformed into an interactive world. Walls seem to move here and children appear bigger than their parents!
Gemeentemuseum Den Haag With the biggest collection in the world, Gemeentemuseum is the international home of Piet Mondrian. In the Mondrian & De Stijl wing, visitors can see how Mondrian evolved from a talented landscape artists to become a pioneer of modern art, with the highlight of the show formed by his 'Boogie Woogie'. Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is also known for its diverse collection of applied art, fashion and modern and contemporary visual art. Delftware occupies a prominent position in the varied collection. The fabulous Art Deco building was created to allow you wander in amazement past masterpieces by international artists such as Picasso, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Monet and Constant.

The Prison Gate Museum The Prison Gate Museum is an icon of The Hague, attractively located beside the Hofvijver. During the 13th century, this building formed the imposing gateway to the Binnenhof. Several centuries later, it became a prison and court building for the mighty Court of Holland. Suspected criminals awaited their trial and defaulters were incarcerated here. Several key moments in Dutch history also took place here, such as the murder of the De Witt brothers. Today, The Prison Gate Museum tells the exciting tale of crime and punishment in bygone days. De geschiedenis van Den Haag gaat terug tot de 13e eeuw toen graaf Floris IV van Holland een jachthuis bouwde op een vrijwel leeg land op de grens van het ontgonnen veenlandschap en het nog woeste bos- en duingebied langs de kust naast de huidige Hofvijver; een gebied dat bekend stond als 'Die Haghe'. Willems zoon Floris V bouwt het hof uit tot een kasteel, nu bekend als het Binnenhof, langzaam het centrum van de huidige Nederlandse politiek.
The history of The Hague goes back to the 13th century when Count Floris IV of Holland built a hunting lodge on virtually uninhabited land on the border of the peat grounds and the wild forest and dune area along the coast beside the current Hofvijver; an area that was known as 'Die Haghe'. William's son Floris V expanded the court into a castle, now known as the Binnenhof, which slowly became the current centre of Dutch politics.

Dit jaar is het 350 jaar geleden dat Rembrandt is gestorven en daarom staan Rembrandt en de Gouden Eeuw een jaar lang centraal in Nederland. Op cultureel gebied was de Gouden Eeuw voor Den Haag een periode van rijkdom, getuige de beroemde werken van Hollandse Meesters.
In 2019, it will be 350 years since the death of Rembrandt. The Netherlands will be focusing on Rembrandt and the Golden Age during the entire year. In a cultural context, the Golden Age was an incredibly affluent period for The Hague, witnessed by the many famous works by Dutch Masters.
Rembrandt en het Mauritshuis Als één van de belangrijkste tentoonstellingen toont het Mauritshuis een verzameling wereldberoemde schilderijen van Hollandse en Vlaamse meesters uit de Gouden Eeuw, waaronder alle zestien Rembrandts die het museum rijk is. Dit zijn wereldberoemde werken zoals 'De anatomische les van Dr. Nicolaes Tulp', 'Saul en David', 'Lofzang van Simeon' en drie zelfportretten.
Rembrandt and the Mauritshuis As one of the most important exhibitions, the Mauritshuis is exhibiting a collection of worldfamous paintings by Dutch and Flemish masters from the Golden Age, including all sixteen Rembrandts owned by the museum. These are celebrated works such as 'The Anatomical Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp', 'Saul and David', 'Simeon's Song of Praise' and three self-portraits.
Nicolaes Maes In de herfst wordt in het Mauritshuis een tentoonstelling ingericht met werk van een van de meest talentvolle leerlingen van Rembrandt: Nicolaes Maes. Hij begon zijn carrière met het schilderen van Bijbelse verhalen, waarin de invloed van zijn leermeester duidelijk terugkomt. In de daaropvolgende jaren schilderde hij intieme huiselijke taferelen en vanaf 1660 ontwikkelde Maes een elegante stijl van portretten.
Nicolaes Maes In the autumn, an exhibition will be installed in the Mauritshuis including work by one of Rembrandt's most talented students: Nicolaes Maes. He started his career painting biblical stories, in which the influence of his teacher can be clearly seen. In the years that followed, he painted intimate domestic scenes and from 1660 Maes developed an elegant portrait style.

Nog steeds geldt hij als een van onze grootste staatsmannen. Het Haags Historisch Museum laat in deze tentoonstelling zien met welke persoonlijke uitdagingen en dilemma's hij te maken had. De Gouden Eeuw in Den Haag Den Haag was in de Gouden Eeuw hét centrum van de macht en het politieke middelpunt van ons land. Hier woonden de Oranjes, die als stadhouders een machtspositie genoten. Rond het Binnenhof, het oudste regeringscentrum ter wereld, verrezen indrukwekkende stadspaleizen voor diplomaten en rijke burgers. Huygens' Museum Ook op Huygens' Hofwijck staat Rembrandt in 2019 centraal. De bouwheer van Hofwijck, Constantijn Huygens, staat immers bekend als 'ontdekker' van Rembrandt. Die term is wat kort door de bocht, maar het is een feit dat Constantijn als een van de eerste het genie van de schilder herkende en dat als allereerste opschreef. Over de relatie tussen Constantijn en Rembrandt presenteert Huygens' Hofwijck een documentaire die in maart 2019 in première zal gaan.
Huygens Museum Rembrandt also plays a central role in 2019 at Huygens' Hofwijck. The architect of Hofwijck, Constantijn Huygens, is known as the 'discoverer' of Rembrandt. The term may be simplistic but it is a fact that Constantijn was one of the first people to recognise the genius of the painter and write about him. Huygens' Hofwijck is presenting a documentary about the relationship between Constantijn and Rembrandt, which will premiere in March 2019.

Van een 17de-eeuwse bloemenhofje tot een sigarenspeciaalzaak, een sprookjesachtig atelier van een edelsmid en van een city spa tot aan de oudste English Bookstore van Den Haag. Begraafplaats St. Barbara is een oase van rust midden in de drukke Binckhorst voor een mooie wandeling langs imposante graven. Eten en drinken Capriole Café is een heerlijke plek om te genieten van koffie, lunch of diner op het terras aan de Fokkerhaven. Bink is een 1.200 m2 rooftop restaurant met een enorme eilandbar en twee dakterrassen. In 2015 opende MaMa Kelly haar deuren in het voormalige ketelhuis van De Caballerofabriek. De kaart is simpel je eet óf kip, óf kreeft. En ja, daarnaast serveren ze ook een aantal andere gerechten. Kasteel Duivenvoorde
In de 13e eeuw vormde dit gebouw de toegangspoort tot het huidige Binnenhof. Enkele eeuwen later werd het een gevangenis en gerechtsgebouw van het Hof van Holland. Hier wachtten verdachte misdadigers op hun proces en warden wanbetalers opgesloten. Bekende vaderlanders zoals Cornelis de Witt hebben hier vastgezeten. Met de Willemsvaart naar de kust. Dat kan sinds 2009. Boottochten in de stad zijn echter ook mogelijk. Reguliere vaarten op dinsdag tot en met vrijdag Toeristische vaarten naar het strand starten op dinsdag t/m vrijdag om 11 uur bij de aanlegplaats Den Haag Centraal Station. Deze tochten duren 1½ uur en eindigen bij de Haringkade/Vijzelstraat, circa 500 meter van het Seinpostduin en de kust. Bij het Seinpostduin vindt u in voorjaar, zomer en herfst gezellige strandpaviljoens. De haven en de Pier zijn ook dichtbij. In het centrum van Scheveningen liggen winkelstraten als de Badhuisstraat en de Keizerstraat. U vindt daar tevens leuke restaurants. Musea als Beelden aan Zee, MuZee en het AFAS Circustheater liggen eveneens op loopafstand van de aanlegplaats Haringkade. Om 14, 15 en 16 uur (di t/m vr) zijn er boottochten van een uur. Deze starten bij de Toussaintkade, ter hoogte van nummer 18. We varen richting Smidswater en de Hooigracht en eindigen weer bij de Toussaintkade. In de omgeving van aanlegplaats Toussaintkade vindt u gezellige winkelstraten en volop horeca. U kunt ook de tuin van Paleis Noordeinde bezoeken. Prijzen • De ochtendvaart naar zee duurt 1½ uur en kost € 14 voor passagiers van 12 jaar en ouder. Kinderen (3 t/m 11 jaar) betalen € 5. Kinderen van 0 t/m 2 jaar varen gratis mee.
Groepsvaarten (maandag t/m zondag) U kunt de schepen van de Willemsvaart ook huren voor groepsvaarten. Groepsvaarten zijn iedere dag mogelijk tussen 8 en 23 uur. U kunt kiezen uit ongeveer vijtien aanlegplaatsen in en rond het centrum van Den Haag, drie bij het Zuiderpark en enkele tussen de stad en Scheveningen (en aan de kust). Bovendien hebben veel horecagelegenheden in de Binckhorst eigen aanlegplaatsen. Groepsvaarten kunt u combineren met een bier-, kaasof wijnproeverij en/of een bezoek aan Jenevermuseum Van Kleef en de bierbrouwerijen De Kompaan of de Prael. Openbaar vervoer OV-chipkaart Om te kunnen reizen met een OV-chipkaart moet je voldoende saldo op je OV-chipkaart zetten. Daarna check je in en uit bij de kaartlezers in tram of bus. Dagkaart Met een Dagkaart reis je de hele dag voordelig met de trams en bussen van HTM. De Dagkaart (€ 7,10) en de Kinder Dagkaart (4 t/m 12 jaar € 1,50) koop je bij een HTM Servicepunt, bij The Hague Info Store, de automaten van de rood-beige trams (lijn 1, 6, 12 en 16) en de R-net-trams (lijn 2, 9, 11, 15 en 17). Parking in The Hague Parkeren in Den Haag
In The Hague and Scheveningen paid parking applies from 09 AM to 12 PM on weekdays and on Fridays and Saturdays from 09 AM to 02 AM the next morning. For tourists it is much easier and cheaper to park in one of the car parks. The Hague and Scheveningen also have an extensive network of trams and buses. They will often get you to your destination quicker than if you go by car. In Den Haag en Scheveningen geldt betaald parkeren van 9 uur ’s ochtends tot middernacht en op vrijdag en zaterdag van 9 uur ’s ochtends tot 2 uur de volgende morgen. 71 Bereikbaarheid Den Haag ligt aan twee snelwegen: de A4 (uit Rotterdam en Amsterdam) en de A12 (uit Utrecht). Vanaf de snelweg sta je met de auto al na twee verkeerslichten in het centrum van Den Haag. Volg hiervoor de borden met Centrumring. Deze route voert om het autoluwe centrum en leidt naar de dichtstbijzijnde parkeergarages waar nog plaatsen vrij zijn. Kijk op denhaag. com/nl/centrum-bereikbaarheid voor het meest actuele overzicht. Parkeren in de binnenstad Het winkelgebied in de Haagse binnenstad is autoluw. Voor parkeren op straat in de binnenstad moet je betalen. Dit geldt dagelijks vanaf de ochtend tot middernacht en in het weekend tot 2 uur. Voor de meeste parkeerplaatsen in de binnenstad geldt een maximum parkeerduur van 2 uur. Dit geldt niet voor de parkeergarages. Voor parkeren op straat kan je bij alle parkeerautomaten betalen met pinpas, creditcard of mobiele telefoon. Den Haag kent betaald parkeren op kenteken. Wanneer je Den Haag bezoekt, kun je de auto daarom het beste parkeren in een parkeergarage aan de Centrumring. In totaal liggen er ruim 20 parkeergarages en -terreinen aan deze route. De tarieven van deze parkeergarages variëren van € 2,- tot € 4,- per uur en € 20,tot € 30,- euro per dag. De meeste parkeergarages zijn 24 uur per dag geopend. Scheveningen Wil je naar het strand van Scheveningen, volg dan de borden Scheveningen Bad of Scheveningen Haven. Als het rustig is, ben je er met de auto in 10 minuten. Kijk voor de drukte richting Scheveningen op denhaag.com/nl/scheveningen. In Scheveningen Bad geldt dagelijks betaald parkeren met een maxi-
mum parkeerduur van 60 minuten in de woonstraten nabij het strand en in het weekend tot 2 uur. In de nabije omgeving geldt een maximale parkeerduur van 120 minuten en geldt dagelijks betaald parkeren van 13 tot 24 uur. Wil je op Scheveningen langer parkeren dan 2 uur, doe dit dan in de een van de parkeergarages en -terreinen waar je onbeperkt kunt parkeren. De garage bij Parking Scheveningen Bad in de Zwolsestraat, heeft vrijwel altijd plek. Een andere mogelijkheid is de Strandweg. Hier geldt ook een onbeperkte parkeerduur. Let op! Wees op zomerse dagen voorbereid op een filevorming naar Scheveningen. Iedere donderdag is het van 9 tot 17 uur in de Stevinstraat - tussen de Badhuisweg en de Gentsestraat - marktdag. Automobilisten worden verzocht hun voertuig vanaf 23 uur de woensdag ervoor tot het eind van de marktdag elders te parkeren. Voertuigen die in dit tijdvak toch in dit gedeelte van de Stevinstraat staan geparkeerd, worden weggesleept! De kosten hiervan zijn voor de eigenaar van het voertuig. Kijkduin Vanaf de snelweg ben je via afrit Den Haag Zuid-West zo in Kijkduin. Hier kun je gratis parkeren. P+R = Park & Ride Bespaar tijd en geld en parkeer de auto bij een P+R. Je vermijdt daarmee files naar de binnenstad en het kost minder parkeergeld. P+R Station Ypenburg Vanuit de richting Gouda/Utrecht over de A12 is de P+R naast Station Ypenburg een handige optie. Hier kun je parkeren en vervolgens reis je met de trein binnen acht minuten naar Den Haag Centraal Station. Handig: het terrein heeft enkele oplaadpunten voor elektrische auto's. Vanaf circa februari 2018 kun je enkel nog op dit terrein parkeren
met een OV-kaart wanneer je kunt aantonen dat je doorreist met het OV. Je parkeert dan tegen een zeer laag tarief. P+R De Uithof Voor wie uit de richting van het Westland komt, kan gratis parkeren op het parkeerterrein van sportcentrum De Uithof (Jaap Edenweg 10). Met tram 4 ben je in ongeveer 20 minuten in het centrum van Den Haag. P+R Laan van NOI Parkeren op het P+R-terrein van NS-station Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië (Van Alphenstraat 102, Voorburg) kost € 2,19 per uur. Vanaf het treinstation reis je in 5 minuten naar de Haagse binnenstad. Bus 23 rijdt vanaf hier in ongeveer 20 minuten naar Scheveningen. Park & Bike Duindigt Parkeer uw auto op een gereserveerde parkeerplek en fiets in 14 minuten naar de boulevard van Scheveningen.Zo werkt het: - Op parkenbikedenhaag.nl reserveert u eenvoudig een datum; - Kies uw fiets. Een fiets met terugtraprem kost € 8,- per dag, een fiets met versnelling kost € 10,- per dag; - Parkeer uw auto op de gereserveerde dag en haal de Haagsche stadfiets op bij Park & Bike. Invalidenparkeerplaatsen Mensen met een Europese gehandicaptenparkeerkaart kunnen gratis gebruikmaken van speciale invalidenparkeerplaatsen. Deze plaatsen zijn te herkennen aan het blauwe E6-parkeerbord met een rolstoel. Om te zien waar je een gehandicaptenparkeerplaats in Den Haag vindt, kun je kijken op app. ongehinderd.nl. De Europese gehandicaptenkaart is niet geldig op de openbare parkeerplaatsen waar betaald parkeren

Accessibility The Hague is located on two large motorways: the A4 (from Rotterdam and Amsterdam) and the A12 (from Utrecht). By car there are only two traffic lights between the motorway and the city centre. To access the city centre follow the signs for Centrumring. This route runs around the car-free city centre and goes to the nearest parking garages where parking spaces are still available.
