F-TYPE COUPÉ UNVEILED To an awestruck audience, Jaguar has revealed the new F-TYPE Coupé – one of the most beautiful and dynamically capable cars we have ever made. The car – building on the success of the convertible – was unveiled on the eve of the prestigious LA Motorshow. A host of British and international Jaguar fans were at the event, including Simon Cowell, Miranda Kerr, Nicholas Hoult, Kelly Osbourne and Jodie Kidd,
celebrating Jaguar’s heritage and the arrival of this all-new sports coupé. With a dark and moody, dramatic, theatrical theme, the first glimpse of F-TYPE Coupé was of the car accelerating towards them from out of the shadows… before passing under their grandstand at full throttle. Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Design Director says: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-TYPE Convertible,

CELEBRATING DEFINITIVE DESIGN This year the world-renowned Wallpaper* Handmade design exhibition – held annually in Milan – came to London for the first time. The shortlisted designers were shown in the Harrods windows for all to see, including five new concepts which explore Jaguar’s design language and advanced technology. These were designed by Moritz Waldemeyer, Neri & Hu, Mathieu Gustafsson, Fredrikson Stallard and Salvatori & Jaguar Advanced Design.
Julian Thomson, Jaguar Advanced Design Director said: “This partnership with Wallpaper* is very exciting and it’s a great opportunity to apply Jaguar design philosophy in new forms and to inspire a culturally diverse audience.” To celebrate the occasion, the Jaguar Advanced Design team presented the stunning C-X17 concept vehicle for the first time in the UK, positioned outside the luxury Knightsbridge store. “Most SUVs look like they’re standing still when they’re doing 100 miles an hour,”
says Head of Design Ian Callum of the crossover concept, “but with the C-X17 we wanted to create an SUV that looked like it was doing 100 miles an hour when it was standing still.” The C-X17 was joined by two other exciting Jaguar design concepts (pictured) – the C-X75 hybrid hypercar and Jaguar heritage-inspired Project 7 sports car – creating a fitting backdrop to this celebration of exceptional design.
MORE FOR LESS: XK SIGNATURE. XK DYNAMIC R The Jaguar XK is a Grand Tourer with the heart and soul of a sports car. Refined performance, luxury and an advanced all-aluminium body in a four seater you can use every day. In 2014, Jaguar will be launching two new XK models which offer a substantially enhanced standard specification than the current models. The XK Signature (available as both coupé and convertible bodystyles) comes with additional touches such as 20" Kalimnos wheels, heated and cooled luxury seats with electric adjustment, reverse parking camera, premium paint, and a heated leather steering wheel. We met with Marco Scialanga, Automotive Marketing Manager, to find out more about the company that’s been leading the field ever since it launched in the late seventies.
HOW DID MERIDIAN START? Meridian was conceived from a shared love for music. Our co-founders Bob Stuart, awarded first-class honours in Electronic Engineering who specialised in psychoacoustics, and Allen Boothroyd, an Industrial Designer, wanted to listen to the music they loved in a better way. Bob and Allen have never considered mainstream trends. They have always been focussed on what is best for the customer and this commitment is still integral to our company ethos today. WHAT’S YOUR PHILOSOPHY ON AUDIO PRODUCTS AND BUSINESS? Our core DNA is, design, innovation, technology, quality and of course performance. We don’t create products. We create systems that place the listener at the heart, they are after all the crucial element.
Our ethos has enabled us to be truly pioneering in our approach. And it started with our debut in 1977 when we released M1, the world’s first active loudspeaker for the consumer. We also launched the UK’s first CD player in 1982. Our technology even played a key role in the development of Blue-Ray discs. And whilst people are getting really excited about 4k (ultra-high-definition) TV and film, we’d passed that mark five years ago when we released the world’s highest definition projector. And of course last year we launched the world’s first in-car 3D surround sound. WHAT HOME KITS DO YOU MAKE AND WHAT IS THE PRICE RANGE? JAGUAR XF 2.2 TAKES PART IN THE NATIONAL MPG MARATHON Jaguar cars are beautiful, dynamic… and also increasingly fuel efficient too – an important attribute in a fleet car. Yet the question always remains… how true are official mpg figures (which are set in controlled conditions) in the real world? That’s what the 2013 MPG Marathon set out to discover – with different vehicles from different manufacturers all involved as contestants compete over two days to achieve the best fuel economy they can and try and beat manufacturer’s own published figures. The Jaguar XF took part in the event last October – facing rush hour traffic and poor weather at Tankersley Manor near Sheffield. AND THE WINNER IS Calves burning, heart pounding (and perhaps a little sore from so long in the saddle), cyclists taking part in our Ride like a Pro challenge gave their all for the chance to win a unique, money-can’t-buy prize. The opportunity to join the world-beating Team Sky cycling team at their training camp in Majorca.
As you can imagine, competition was fierce (but friendly) and after 15 Dealer ride outs across the country there was a thrilling final involving 38 riders at Fen End circuit. The Directeur Sportif Challenge involved a timed drive in an XF Sportbrake (the official support car for Team Sky) as well as a 10 mile bike time trial, with Team Sky’s Performance Advisor Shane Sutton offering (shouting) words of support.

At the end of a fantastic, adrenalin-fuelled day, the winners were Charlie Revell and Cathy Anderson who, alongside runner-up Jeremy Wooton will be joining Team Sky at their winter training camp with the chance to ride in a peloton supported by an XF Sportbrake.

We’ve always been proud of our association with the high-achieving, multi-winning Team Sky and we’re sure our worthy winners will have a fantastic experience with the pros in Majorca. And, with next year’s Tour de France Grand Depart starting in Yorkshire, Jaguar will be at the heart of the action again providing Team Sky’s support vehicles.
