Cover Story - His Imperial Majesty When Ras Tafari Makonnen took the imperial throne in Ethiopia in 1930 as Haile Selassie I, a new movement was born in Jamaica. The crowning of a Black King. This prophecy Marcus Garvey spoken fifteen years earlier, "Look to Africa for the crowning of a Black King; he shall be the Redeemer". Selassie would prove to be one of Ethiopia's most noble leaders. The Ethiopian Emperor traditionally took the title King of Kings, Lord of lords and Lion of the tribe of Judah (Power of the Trinity). Haile Selassie symbolizes to Jamaicans in the 1930s that the black man could be strong, contrary to what they saw in their own country. Haile Selassie was also believed to be descended from the line of David by Solomon. This only added to the Jamaicans belief that he was their savior. Whether or not he was the second coming, Christ himself or just related to Christ through his heritage, he lives and his kingdom reigns forever. Between two hundred and three hundred kings have ruled between the time of Solomon and Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia, descendent from the seed of David. Upon his arrival to Jamaica April 21, 1966 Haile Selassie brought rain after a drought in the land, proving to many Rastafarian believers that this man was of Christ. During this first and final trip to Jamaica, Selassie met with several Rastafarian leaders. The visit resulted in two profound developments within the Rastafarian movement. First, Selassie convinced the Rastafarian brothers that they "should not seek to immigrate to Ethiopia (Zion) until they had liberated the people of Jamaica (Babylon)." Second, from that day forth, April 21st has been celebrated as a special holy day among Rastafarians, "Grounation Day." To Rastafarians, Selassie I was much more than just a political leader; Rasta theology centered on the divinity of Selassie as a living manifestation of Jah, the all-knowing and all-loving God. To Rastafarians, the story told by the Old Testament pertains to black Africans who descend from Abraham and Jacob, Christ. Such Rastafarians claimed that He is omnipresent in spirit and visited the clouds with the hosts of heavenly angels. The Rastafarian movement perceives Haile Selassie as a messianic figure who will lead the peoples of Africa and the African diaspora to a golden age of peace, righteousness, and prosperity into the promise land, Zion. Long the King, his righteousness lives with out end.

The Night Light: Let's be honest, foul shit goes on in the dark. Here comes the night light, dim, peaceful and comforting. Illuminating your fears and uncovering your demons. A nightlight is a small light fixture often electrical, placed for comfort or convenience in dark areas or areas that become dark at certain times, such as in an emergency. People often use night lights for the sense of security which having a light on provides, and for a solution against nyctophobia (fear of the dark). Besides their usefulness to children in the allaying of their fears, night lights are also useful to the general public by showing the general layout of a room without turning on a major light, for avoiding tripping over stairs or obstacles, or to mark an emergency exit. Jonah 1- 4: Jonah is given a order by Jah to preach
repentance to the city of Nineveh, Israel's enemy. Jonah stubbornly disobeyed God and did the opposite and ran away from the Lord. Jonah booked passage to Tarshish, away from Nineveh. In response, Jah sent a violent storm which threatened to break the ship to pieces. The terrified crew cast lots, determining that Jonah was responsible for the storm. Jonah told them to throw him overboard. First they tried rowing to shore, but the waves got even higher. Fearing the Lord, the sailors finally tossed Jonah into the sea, and the water immediately grew calm. The crew made a sacrifice to the Most High, swearing vows to him. Instead of drowning, Jonah was swallowed by a great fish, which God provided. In the belly of the whale, Jonah repented and cried out to Jah in prayer. He praised Jah, ending with the eerily prophetic statement, "Salvation comes from the Lord." (Jonah 2:9, NIV) Jonah was in the giant fish three days. Jah commanded the whale, and it vomited the reluctant prophet onto dry land. This time Jonah obeyed The Almighty. He walked through Nineveh proclaiming that in forty days the city would be destroyed. Surprisingly, the Ninevites believed Jonah's message and repented, wearing sackcloth and covering themselves in ashes. God had compassion on them and did not destroy them. Jonah teaches us not to question Jah, but to obey him at all times trusting he has our safety in his hands. We learn from Jonah The Prophet, we can not run from The Almighty One.
