INTRODUCTION In the ideal world, a CAD standard would be just what the name implies: a single set of rules an procedures for documenting and conveying building design information regardless of the software used to create it or the medium in which addresses a different set of issues regarding the organization and appearance of CAD files and the sharing of information with non-CAD applications. Here at ALPHA XII architects and consulting partnership our CAD Standards office Manual is produced to ensure maximum efficiency, quality control, ease of communication and co-ordination in work load as well as providing an overall consistency in appearance. Therefore it should be noted that adherence to the outlined sections in this document is mandatory and must be fully adhered to.

PEN STYLE ALPHA XII uses a standard set of plot styles or pen styles to aid in plotting. These plot styles are intended to provide seamless integration while passing dwg. files back and forth between members. The attached penstyle file “ALPHA XII.ctb” can be located in the CAD Drawings > ALPHA XII CAD Library > Plot style folder located on our website. https://alpha12.teamlab.com/products/projects/tmdocs.aspx?prjID=320691#1039733. N.B. Plot style file used by ALPHA XII was referenced from Studio Blue Architects inc.
CTB
Installation of the of “ALPHA XII.ctb” plot style file in AutoCAD is as simple as coping the fie in the correct folder. Illustrations are as follows: Mac OS: Applications > Auto-desk > Auto CAD 2013 > Show Package Contents > Contents > UserDataCache > Plotters > Plot Styles. Windows OS: User > Library > Application Support > Auto-desk > Roaming > Product Version > Plot Styles.
LINE WEIGHTS Line weights in any drawing type whether digitally or by hand is necessary in successful visual communication, and it must be utilize correctly. As mentioned above, we at ALPHA XII provide a plot/pen style file, which depending on the color used, a given line-thickness will be associated. This ensure consistency in line-thickness in all AutoCAD drawing documents. The example below illustrates which standard line colors produce which size line weights. Blue
