JUNE 2009 - NEWSLETTER A VERY BUSY TIME
HOME ACCESS GRANTS
JIHIHJJHHHHK There are now only six weeks left before the end of the academic year – time really does seem to have flown by! There are many events planned for this period, the dates of most of which are at the end of this newsletter. This information can also be found on the calendar of the school website. Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us to enable everyone to have an excellent end of term.
You may have seen the poster on the board at the front of the school relating to the Home Access Scheme which is backed by the government to help children get online at home. Grants can cover the cost of a computer, internet access and support. The grants are available to parents with low-income. If you think that you may qualify for a grant please see Mr Pearce for an application form. Grants are available until July 31st 2009.
TRAVELLING BOOK FAIR
DIARY DATES
The Travelling Book Fair are making their first ever visit to Earl Soham during the week beginning 22nd June. There are a number of offers on books, including buy one, get one free on some titles. The school will receive 50% commission on any sales which will be ploughed back into books for the school. The book fair will be open from 3.00pm – 3.45pm, Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th June. We hope that you’ll be able to support us in this.
SCHOOL REPORTS The end of year report for each child will be sent home on Friday 3rd July. The following week will be available for parents to meet with their child’s class teacher should they wish to do so. This year sees a new report format which is aimed at being more personal to every child.
SUMMER PRODUCTION Plans for our end of year production – JEREMIAH IN THE DARK WOODS - are now well underway. Children in Blue Class have auditioned for speaking parts which have now been allocated. The whole school are learning the songs and Red and Yellow Classes are learning different dances. There will be a letter with more details later this week, however, any help with costumes and scenery would be greatly appreciated. We’d also appreciate it if parents of children in Blue Class could help their children learn their lines. Children will need their scripts in school every day. There will be a total of three shows, two in the evening (Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July at 6.15pm) and one during the afternoon of Tuesday 14th. This will hopefully enable all parents who wish to watch, the opportunity to do so.
