SEPTEMBER 2011 - NEWSLETTER A WARM WELCOME JIHIHJJHHHHK A very warm welcome (or welcome back) to school to all pupils and their families. Last year ended on a ‘high’ with our fantastic performances of ‘Jeremiah 2 The Dark Woods’ – thank you for your support with this – the children were fantastic! We hope that you have had a refreshing break and are looking forward to the year ahead and the challenges that will be faced during the next three terms. Please note that the first ‘Wall of Fame’ assembly will be next week on Friday 16th September at 9.00am. For those parents who are new to the school, the ‘Wall of Fame’ assembly is where we celebrate the achievements of the children throughout the school – it is always an open invite and usually lasts approximately half an hour. We hope to see you there.
HOT DINNERS We would be extremely grateful if school meals could be ordered and paid for on Mondays. There is a slip available from outside the office to fill in with your child’s choices. Also in the entrance area is a copy of the four week cycle of menus that are on offer. The current cost of a school meal is £2.10.
PHOTOGRAPHS Tempest Photography will be visiting on Thursday 6th October to take photographs of individuals and sibling groups.
START OF DAY With an increasingly expanding curriculum, it is extremely important that we are able to make a prompt start every day. Children need to be on the school site for the morning whistle which is blown 2 minutes before 8.50am. Registration is taken at 8.50am to enable the first activities of the morning to commence at 9 o’clock. A member of staff is on duty on both playgrounds from 8.35am onwards.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS We are planning to start our after school clubs the week beginning 19th September. This term we have planned to provide football, netball, dance, FILMClub, cookery, choir, Italian and gymnastics. Mrs Barker is requesting support with running gym club (thank you to those who volunteered last year) on Tuesday (Years 1 & 2), without this the club may have to be cancelled. Please contact her if you may be able to support her. Further details on clubs will follow next week.
PTFA The Parents Teachers & Friends Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting soon – please keep an eye out for the date. They are a great support to the school and help to fund a variety of school trips and equipment for the school from which every child benefits. Last year the PTFA funded the manufacture and installation of the blinds in the hall. Money is raised through organising events such as the Fete, ‘Auction of Promises’ and Family Fun Night. As well as this, they provide refreshments during occasions such as Sports Day and the Carol Service. If fact, they do so much to support the school that their contribution is immeasurable. =
