THE STORYTELLING CENTRE Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, UK BA(Hons) Architecture Design Project The Art of Storytelling finds a natural home in Hebden Bridge; The local area has been home to many literary greats such as The Bronte Sisters, Ted Hughes, and Sylvia Plath. The Shaggy Dog Storytellers of Hebden Bridge required a dedicated space to share their art with others through performance, workshops, exhibitions and a library of traditional folk stories. Inspired by tales of escapism, the centre creates a haven within the carcass of an old textile workshop, which then directs its focus towards its natural surroundings. From within the preserved shell of the existing building, the spaces retreat up the steep valley side and into the tree canopy.
