A WHICH LINE IS LONGER IN THIS PARALLELOGRAM? A TO B OR A TO C

SOLUTION 11: PAGE 37

SOLUTIONS SOLUTION 1 - THE ACTUAL ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS THAT A, B & C ARE ALL THE SAME SIZE BUT SINCE OUR EYES PERCIEVE THE SHAPES AROUND THE OUTER CIRCLE TO MAKE IT APPEAR EITHER LARGER OR SMALLER. SOLUTION 2 - OBJECT A INNER CIRCLE IS THE SAME SIZE AS INNER CIRCLE B THIS IS DOWN TO THE FACT IT IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE DELBOEUF ILLUSION. SOLUTION 3 - BOTH BLOCKS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY LOOK UNEQUAL IN THE SIZE, BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENT BLACK LENGTHS ON EITHER SIDE OF THEM. SOLUTION 4 - IT APPEARS TO LOOK LONGER, BUT BOTH LINES ARE ACTUALLY THE SAME LENGTH. SOLUTION 5 - THE DISTANCE BETWEEN A & B AND C & D ARE EXACTLY THE SAME, ITS THE WAY THAT OUR EYES DECIEVE US THAT MAKE THIS ILLUSION POSSIBLE. SOLUTION 6 - THE TWO THIN LINES ARE OF EQUAL LENGTH. SOLUTION 7 - IT’S EXACTLY IN THE CENTER. SOLUTION 8 - THE CENTER LINES IN TRIANGLES A & B ARE ALL THE SAME HEIGHT. HOWEVER, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM IS THE LINES LEADING AWAY FROM THEM. SOLUTION 9 - BOTH LINES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME LENGTH. THIS IS DOWN TO THE FACT THAT THE ANGLES OF THE LINES MAKE THEM TO TO LOOK UNEQUAL. SOLUTION 10 - THE ANGLES A & B ARE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE. SOLUTION 11 - WITHIN THE PARALLELOGRAM BOTH POINTS FROM A TO B & A TO C ARE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE, THIS IS BECAUSE THE WAY THE LINES ARE POSITIONED AT AN ANGLE MAKE IT SEEM THAT ONE IS LONGER THAN THE OTHER.
