James River Country Club is a traditional, family-oriented private club with a proud history, rich traditions, and commitment to the customs of southern hospitality and gracious living. As such, all members and their guests are asked to adhere to a certain level of decorum – attire should be appropriate for the venue. While JRCC is perhaps less formal than some other country clubs, certain areas within the Club Grounds have very specific dress code policies.

• The River Room is designed as a dining space. The attire for the restaurant is "Country Club Casual,” which means “tailored, tucked, timeless and tasteful.”
• Long pants or Bermuda Shorts and tucked-in shirts with collars are required for men, with a similar attire standard for women.
• Children are encouraged to dress in a similar attire standard.
• Jackets and ties are not required. However, the restaurant is such that you will not feel out of place wearing them, and jackets and ties are most certainly recommended for dinner. •
• For ladies and girls, stylish denim pants that align with the Club House denim rules are permitted in the River Room.
• For men and boys, stylish denim pants that align with the Club House denim rules are permitted in conjunction with a tucked-in collared shirt, and a sports coat is recommended.
• In addition to those examples of clothing not considered appropriate (please see Clubhouse rules), workout attire, graphic t-shirts, cargo shorts, and tank tops are not considered appropriate for the River Room.
• Members who fall outside the River Room dress code parameters will be asked to dine in an area more appropriate for their dress. This allows us to maintain the tradition of high standards we have set for our members and guests.
• Members in any dining area may pass through the River Room to use the restroom, pick up To-Go orders, or to access the Chef Attended Stations when available.
• Men are never permitted to wear hats in the Clubhouse.
• In addition to those examples of clothing not considered appropriate (please see Clubhouse above), T-shirts, tank tops, swimwear, cargo shorts, and workout attire are not considered proper attire for the Huntington Lounge.
