M EMBERSHIP M AY

Member of the Month CASSIE LAM

M y family and I became members of the club two years ago.

The membership was a surprise 10-year anniversary gift for my golf loving husband, Phi. We met at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond in 2003. After graduation he returned to his native state of California and served as chief resident in family medicine at UC Davis. I stayed back on the east coast and finished my general anesthesia and pediatric anesthesia training at Georgetown and Children’s National Medical Center, respectively. After residency we moved back to my home town in York County where we are raising our two beautiful, energetic boys, Luke and Finn. They are in 1st and 3rd grade at Dare Elementary School, excelling in math and recess. My husband, in addition to being the manager of their York County Little League team, is also serving as their golf coach and hoping to enter them in the next drive, chip and putt competition. For the past eight years I have been an anesthesiologist at Riverside Regional Medical Center where I have served as the chairman of the department for the past two years and the assistant chairman for the preceding three. I was a candy striper at Riverside in my York High School days and it’s been a great experience coming full circle. Phi began his career in urgent care centers and served as the medical director of the Newport News Patient First for five years. He is currently pursuing his dream of opening his own direct primary care office in Yorktown in June of this year. “CountyMed DPC” will offer a membership-based practice catering to a limited number of patients, providing professional and personalized care. We enjoy celebrating the holidays at the club, hosting birthday parties and annual Christmas parties, playing golf, sipping cocktails by the pool and giving Brian a run for his money on the tennis courts. JRCC offers us a wonderful staycation experience and we are proud to be a part of the JRCC family. James River Country Club

My relationship with food is intimate. I don't eat and tell. - CeeLo Green

NATIONAL EAT WHAT YOU WANT DAY WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2022

There could not be a more perfect holiday to follow Mother's Day than National Eat What You Want Day! This is the day to have pizza for breakfast, Oreos for lunch, and Waffle House for dinner. Snub that stuffy diet, shove aside those carrots, and spend your day gorging on all the things you genuinely crave; because on National Eat What You Want Day, no one can tell you what NOT to eat! Celebrate by mixing up your usual lunch routine and eat something you have always wanted to try. Get your kids involved by letting them be creative in picking what your family will have for dinner! And if you’re thinking of skipping the dishes, and taking the easy way out, the Club is ready and waiting to help you indulge on this glorious holiday! - Rachael Mizelle James River Country Club
