behind the scenes LINDA ROESCH IS BACK!

Reflections from our Artist in Residence My name is Linda Roesch; I am a watercolor and acrylic artist from Roscoe, South Dakota. This is my third time back in Jamestown as Artist in Residence for The Arts Center. I am excited for the opportunity to spend the 2018 – 2019 school year working in the Jamestown Elementary Schools. I am so thankful for The Arts Center and elementary schools for welcoming me back again. Two years ago I had the opportunity to participate in an Artist in Residence mentorship. Thanks to The Arts Center and the North Dakota Council on the Arts, I was able to learn and study with exceptional teaching artists who helped me hone my artistic skills into creative learning opportunities for children. This year, our lessons will focus on one-point perspective, oil pastel techniques and the color wheel. I’m looking forward to seeing the familiar faces in the schools that I’ve visited in the past, and I can’t wait to get to know the students at schools I haven’t been to before! When I am not teaching art, you can usually find me selling my paintings at art festivals throughout North and South Dakota in the summer months, or creating custom commissioned pieces in the winter. I specialize in colorful pet portraits and landscapes, and I’m greatly inspired by my travels. Though I still call the prairie home, I love the ocean, the desert, and tall redwoods—so I run away to California whenever I can.
