Welcome to the 18th annual High Bluff Stock Farm Bull Sale Thank you for taking the time to look through our catalog and considering High Bluff Stock Farm bulls and females for your herd. This is our 18th sale but only the second sale that we’ve included replacement females! On the bull side to meet the variety of our customers’ needs we have easy calvers and performance bulls in both the Charolais and Simmental breeds, no matter the breed or style all have been selected for disposition and sound structure, no exceptions. If you are able to stop by we’d be pleased to take you through the bulls before the sale or give us a call anytime to talk about your herdsire needs. We love talking cattle and finding bulls that are a good fit for our customers’ herds. On the female side we’re pleased to be bringing this new addition to our sale. At the time of writing we’ve had a few folks send us pictures of their females purchased last year with a fresh healthy calf at side with beautiful udders and that’s just what we like to see. These are honest, hard working females that could go into commercial or purebred herds alike, we’d be happy to help identify which females match your needs. Covid of course brought challenges to last year’s sale and we thank everyone for adapting quickly to the limitations while continuing to support our program. This year our plan is to have an in-person sale but will be ready if any last minute adaptions are needed. Videos of the cattle and online bidding is available through dlms.ca and come by the farm or call anytime. Again thanks for all that were quick on their feet last year to helping us adapt to COVID. On the family front this year we were very happy to celebrate Tomina and Daniel’s wedding and we have a new granddaughter Mila. The contributions of our family and the folks who work on the farm, who are pretty much family, can’t go understated. Their contributions are fundamental in making our operation run successfully and smoothly. Cattle markets are looking strong and were incredibly resilient this last year given all the challenges. It was heart warming to see Canadians stocking up on beef this past year, we have a product in demand in Canada and around the world, something we certainly should all be very proud of. We would again like to welcome you to come by the farm or call anytime. We wish you and your families the very best. The Tradition Continues, Carman, Donna, Erin & the whole Jackson Family

The bulls are fully guaranteed to be a breeding bull as outlined by the Charolais and Simmental Breeder’s Guarantee Guidelines. Semen tests will be done when recommended by our veterinarian. High Bluff Stock Farm reserves the right to be the first to know about any problems you might have with your bull. Should any bull fifteen months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller immediately when the problem is detected. The matter shall be reported in writing to the seller, enclosing a report prepared by a licensed veterinarian, within six months following the date of purchase or date of first exposure, or six months after the bull has reached 15 months of age. Any bull that does not prove to be a satisfactory breeder will be returned to High Bluff Stock Farm at the buyers expense. The seller will have the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. Should the bull prove to be a breeder, he will be returned to the buyer, and the matter will be considered closed. If the bull fails his semen test or proves not to be a breeder we will replace your bull with another bull of equal quality or lend you a bull to make sure your cows get bred or give you a sales credit. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Bull Preparation:
We are committed to raising cattle the best we can in the environment we have. Animal health, temperament, fitness and longevity are important to us and key to our own and our customers success. The bulls are developed on a TMR ration of silage, chopped hay, rolled barley, corn, minerals and vitamins as well as free choice hay. We work with a nutritionist to make sure all of our cattle’s dietary needs are met. We have a complete herd health and vaccination program with Roblin Vet Clinic. Prior to the sale bulls will be measured and inspected by one of the vets at Roblin Vet Clinic. All bulls have been treated with Ivermectin twice.

Sales Management Comments The Jackson family has continually tried to bring a stronger set of bulls than the year prior, and they just might have succeeded… again! During every tour at High Bluff, I am impressed with not only the power in their bull pen but the structural correctness. Wide, long backs with huge, thick, muscular, hindquarters combined with deep spring of rib, these bulls come with a luxurious hair coat. These are the future herd sires that will take your calf crop to the next level. High Bluff has always tried to provide bulls to meet its buyers’ needs. They have a selection of beefy two-year-olds and yearlings. Of course performance bulls and bulls with calving ease in both Charolais and Simmental. Expect to see some structurally sound, big bodied calves from the Triumph bull. You never really know how much you like a bull until you see how his daughters produce, check out the weaning weights of the calves off the Triumph daughters! A bull that produces heavy calves and daughters that are fertile and great milking is what we all want in our herds. Both the El Paso and Three Thieves are bulls that have sired some good, powerful bulls. The masculine sons will stroll through the ring with big square hips, wide tops, and are soft made. The Three Thieves bull will bring a shot of calving ease to boot. The Simmental bulls have a large section from the bull named Driller. Driller has really stamped his sons. They are fleshy, easy doing and muscular. You can’t help notice how quiet these gentlemen are as they roam the pen with exceptional hair coats. Quite the group. There was a soggy Red Summit calf that kept catching my eye during my tour…cannot wait to see him again. In last year’s catalogue it said, “New This Year” and then advertised that Simmental heifers would be included in the sale. Well big news!! Not only are there going to be Simmental heifers again, but this year there will also be a hand full of top notch, highly sought after Charolais heifers available for you to purchase. There will be some granddaughters off HBSF 15Y (Casanova’s mom). This will be sure to have some top producers giddy with excitement. The Jackson family has had very good luck with the Driller bull. A strong group of feminine Driller daughters are on offer. You will find the Driller crossed with Epic will produce calves that hit the ground easy and have some real pop to them! This family works hard day in and day out, and have done extensive research to produce quality animals. Come utilize their hard work and put these genetics into your herd. We encourage you to come by the farm and see the bulls and heifers in their huge pens. However, if you can’t be there sale day, be sure to utilize Transcon’s highly trusted order buying service. We can help purchase the correct bull for your program. See you down the cattle trail, Cody C. Haney www.transconlivestock.com

In these uncertain times, we invite you to come and tour the bull and female pens anytime. The sale will go on even if we are unable to host many people. In our opinion there is nothing better than coming for a tour prior to sale day to look through the bulls and then being at the sale in person, but we realize that might not be possible this year. Please give Carman, Donna or Erin a call prior to the sale to set up a tour or discuss any cattle that interest you and what you are looking for in a herdsire or female. Sale day or anytime before please call ourselves or any one of the sales staff or sale day phones if you would like a second opinion on an animal or would like to bid on an animal. We all would be happy to help with your search to find your next herdsire or female. Watch for details on our website or facebook page closer to the date for more information.

HIGH BLUFF HENDRIX 152H POLLED PUREBRED PMC803719 HBSF 152H February 22 2020
Hendrix is a bull we are sure proud to have raised. He is what as breeders we try so hard to achieve - to raise a bull that combines performance and style while being as structurally perfect as possible. Hendrix is a very complete bull that is hard to fault or find a hole in. He is an eye appealing individual with impressive style, shape, correctness and balance throughout.
Triumph 50B has turned out to be a great breeding bull for us. He possesses many traits we look for in cattle: lots of capacity, a big wide top, sound structure, masculinity, and that great herd bull presence. It’s hard to find a fault in his or his sire Triumph 2135’s structure. The way they move and cover ground is impressive to watch. It is hard to find a bull that breeds as consistently and uniformly as Triumph 50B. His genetics have been admired and chased by both purebred and commercial breeders alike.
HBSF 15Y has proven herself in raising top-notch bulls and females. She is most well known as Casanova’s mother but that shouldn’t overlook the long list of top notch bulls and females in her family tree. In addition to her natural calves we have also flushed her very successfully. We have been very fortunate with the quality of the 15Y x Symbol ET calves and are excited about this year’s ET 15Y x Mescalito calves. 15Y has been one of the most consistent cows on our farm. She is an attractive, structurally very sound, big volume cow that is quite moderate in her makeup. At 10 years of age she still looks, produces and moves like a much younger female. We are excited about this genetic match and would like to be part of this exciting herdsire’s future. We are retaining a 1/3 semen interest in Hendrix 152H. HOP. PV.

This isn’t surprising as Triumph 50B and Triumph 2135 are known for their top end weaning and yearling weights, and his dam brings genetics with a bit more punch as well. Haddaway has 2 good looking sisters in our herd, a Triumph 50B and a Triumph 2135. Expect performance and consistency with these genetics.

Henderson’s presence, quiet confidence, rib shape, depth of body and easy fleshing ability really remind me of the strong Triumph sires behind him. This is a bull we have really admired from the start and are loving watching him continue to develop. Like the Triumphs his weaning and yearling EPD’s are fantastic. HIGH BLUFF HEAVEN OR BUST 16H POLLED PUREBRED PMC803519 HBSF 16H January 19 2020
Check out this calving ease herdsire! We sure think a lot of him. Heaven or Bust is an impressive individual. He’s correct, nice headed, smooth made with a great presence. He is backed by a couple bulls we have had very good luck with in our heifer pen. The Monsoon calves are smooth made, born the right size, and with great vigor. Bronco was our go to heifer bull for years. He is backed by two of the most beautiful cows on our farm. 172F is a Triumph out of 150B, a Bronco. They are the type of females that check all the boxes: feminine, correct, nice headed, lots of natural capacity and beautiful udders. Owned with Dale McKay. We are retaining a 1/3 semen interest in Heaven or Bust.

Their grand dam, HBSF 15Y, is a very attractive, sound, big volume cow who is quite moderate in her make up, and who has proven herself time and time again at raising top notch bulls and females. While she is most well known for being Casanova’s dam she also has many natural and ET calves that we are very high on. Watch for the next round of 15Y x Mescalito ET calves coming to next year’s bull sale! Hardy is a well balanced, solid Driller son on offer that follows the Driller stamp: eye appealing, thick, long and nicely muscled with a good disposition and fantastic weaning and yearling weights. Hardy’s dam is a Rust female that goes back to EGC Muchmore 42X. 42X is a blaze face cow that has a Rambler female in the sale who has been a very solid producer for us. We have registered every one of her calves in the last 9 years.

It’s hard to find a fault in his or his sire’s structure. The way they move and cover ground is impressive to watch. It is hard to find a bull that breeds as consistently and as uniformly as Triumph 50B. His genetics have been admired and chased by both purebred and commercial breeders alike.
