Welcome to Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale Welcome to another edition of Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale. We and our fellow contributors are dedicated to offering top quality females from our replacement pens. For us personally, we delight in offering females that represent each of our working herd sires. It’s hard to part with these top end females but it is important to expand the genetic base of the Simmental breed. As you view this year’s offering we know that you will find the genetic package that will complement your program. With all the crazy times we are experiencing in our day to day living, it feels like farm life has been affected the least. The one mandate we are all following though is the one that we sign on to when we decide to raise cattle. Feeding, bedding, watering and providing health care is an unspoken mandate we take on on a daily basis. We are grateful to live and work on a farm in Alberta during these times. Please feel free to join us on sale day or stop in ahead of time and check out the girls. If you can’t attend in person you can bid online with DLMS or contact any of the sales staff. See you November 26th.

Sales Management Comments When you have a progressive breeding program like the Brown family of Lone Stone Farms do, who have cowherd numbers and quality to the point they do, is when you have the luxury to sell this many top end females. Then you can have a sale like this, and on an annual basis! I really, really, really like the selfless aspect the Brown families take to inviting other “local” breeders to join them in this sale, and to add to their female sale! A VERY open-minded business platform! The Lone Stone program, like most successful breeding herds, realizes the importance of cow families but also know that the in-house herdsires build the consistency any herd needs! This philosophy applies to both breeds. They put a lot of research into sire selection! To continue on about inviting guests, on the Angus side, the very well respected Dwajo program always offer a nice group of Black & Red Angus. These people work hard. Whether it’s their cowherd or their off farm jobs, they take it seriously! The Hazel Bluff program doesn’t come with any extra frills, but are great people, they really are, and are close friends with the Brown families. Their cattle work, and work hard, on an investment level, for buyers, past, present and future! Moving to the Simmi side of things, flattering the Lone Stone heifers, we have the Cerny family’s methodically bred cattle. They don’t brag hard on their cattle, but their cattle brag hard on them! Add to that the Swantewitt females. These are people that have been breeding Simmental for many years but this sale has undoubtedly exposed their merits to the buying public. Then, from the mighty “Peace Country” of Alberta, to add the very respectable KSL herd to a sale, which they exclusively only sell females at is a big “win”. I admire how they showcase both of their respective calving seasons to allow buyer diversity opportunities to this sale. Please join us, on behalf of the Brown families and their guests at Lone Stone Farms to see a diverse offering of two different breeds, in a Northern Alberta environment for a great set of cattle that are raised to work in any condition. Please feel free to call on any of us at Transcon to receive a free appraisal of the offering. For those of you planning to bid online, we are here to chat with to help with your bidding satisfaction. For the Browns & their guests,

As the Cashmere females approach calving they continue to impress. These are polled females that you you can build a herd on. Honest cattle that are phenotypically correct and have good muscling and are easy keeping, docile and manageable. For those trying to build a superior polled program, this outcross sire will give you some tremendous foundation females and very exceptional bulls for your bull pen.

Full Fleckvieh. Polled. Sire Verified. The Pilar cow family is a functional line at Lone Stone. Over 40 females carry that name in our cow herd and I will go out on a limb saying 70H’s dam may be the best female we own out of that genetic line. We have one female out of her working in the herd and sold a female to Gra-Tan in our 2017 sale as well as two of her sons have made the bull sale. This may be the only other opportunity to purchase a daughter as we likely will hoard any females we get from here on. There is a full sister to 70H in the weaned pen and 92A is bred Cashmere again. When it works you keep doing it.

She has never been tested but every horned bull she has been bred to, the calf always comes out polled. We’ve sold three of her bulls in our bull sale and Double Bar D bought a daughter in the 2018 female sale. Here’s Hippie, a heifer whose pedigree is stacked with calving ease as well as longevity and good maternal instincts. She’s thick with solid red coloring and goggles. Her dam has already proven to be an exceptional young cow and the grand dam on the sire’s side was a thick, soggy cow who produced for us until the old age of 15. Who knows, she could be carrying your future heifer bull!

The next five females in the Red Angus offering are out of a bull called Red Lazy M Redman 306A. We have been using him in our program since 2014, a very long time in the purebred business. We’ve used him on cows and heifers. He leaves cattle with excellent feet and great fertility and are they ever easy keepers. We believe Rosette 59H is the best of the five but that’s just our opinion. Lots of power coming from Rosette 16B, a Revolver 138Z daughter. There is no downside from owing this bred heifer.

Red Hazel Bluff Parama 8H goes way back to Martin’s first 4-H female. The Parama cow family is another long standing line of cows at Hazel Bluff. These cows are very productive and will not disappoint. Her sire is a bull that we bought from the Millers at Excel Ranches. He has worked very well for us and we are looking forward to see how these females develop. She is safe in calf to Red Towaw Jive 494G.

HAZEL BLUFF MS ERA 51H BLACK ANGUS

MHB 51H
This bred heifer is really hard to part with. Her femininity is really what stands out first and foremost! She stands on a really solid foot and goes back to the Gammer cow family that originates at Dwajo. This cow family is the start of our black herd and they have been very productive females. The most exciting part about this female is she is bred to our new black herdsire, Atlasta Payweight 79H, from the Sutters at Sylvan Lake. He was the high selling bull in their sale this past year. Lots of potential here!
