Once again we present our Ultimate Red & Black Simmental Sale as part of a “triple header” in Red Deer. We see fewer overall numbers in this year’s sale as collectively the consignors elected to be more conservative, or even take a year off, with the impending “Mega-Dispersal” for Skor Simmentals happening within the same week. Right or wrong, I think people reacted in an effort they have felt responsible in doing.

My family has been AI'ing our commercial herd and using walking Simmental sires for decades. I have been active in the 4-H program and my interest in the beef business has been growing. I decided I wanted to be in the Simmental business a few years ago and have been purchasing purebreds from reputable breeders and have been AI'ing to build my herd with top genetics. This is the kind of heifer that should stay home; cherry red, thick and deep, and a super quiet personality. We purchased her sire from Tymarc Simmentals and for a heifer bull he left us with some awesome females. Her grand dam is one of our foundation cows and has produced some of our high sellers. We used some Dreamboat last year and had calves from 82lbs to 90lbs. They have lots of hair and nice shape to them. I expect one of them to be a lead off the bull sale next spring.

SATH Miss 20G is a heifer that is very hard to let go, but with a twin staying at home and 2 maternal sisters working in our herd already, we feel that we can. This girl is a very neat package with tons of eye appeal and clean in her lines. Her dam is a no-miss cow that has tons of volume and a picture perfect udder.
