Welcome Welcome & thank you for taking the time to open this catalog & read through it. As this is the only yearly function where we market our cattle, we invest a huge amount of time & resources to present to you our livestock portfolio. Celebrating our 42nd year raising Simmental stock & 77th year in the bull business, there have been some highs & lows along the way. The Agriculture industry has taught us many lessons. Perhaps one of the most recent reminders for the general public has been the last year. Everyone is essential in his or her own way, however food is at the very top of the list. As primary producers, farming has provided us a good living, but also a good way of life that we sometimes need to appreciate a little more. I’ll tell you; I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to be a farmer than in the last twelve months. As Agriculture has kept moving forward, with very minor disruptions, so have calving, breeding, seeding & harvest. Full circle, the cows still need to be bred & seeds will go in the ground! We are happy & excited to bring the sale back to the farm! Our 17th Annual sale will be a live video sale held in our large, spacious, heated shop. The sale bulls & heifers will be penned in their home environment, just a little ways north from the shop where our cattle yard is located. We feel this will be easier on the cattle as they will not have to be moved, hauled to town, & disrupted. The quality of the offering runs extremely deep. You will notice in the next few pages a number of new herdsires that have been exclusively acquired by Rendezvous Farms. It’s no secret that we don’t shy away from buying the best bulls we can find in our travels. The investment has been very significant but when you see the new calves off of bulls like Rampage, Legacy, Avenger just to name a few, you will realize the value that new genetics bring. Proven bulls such as Charles, Express & Direct Drive still anchor the Fullbood, Red & Black divisions. Rest assured, there is something for everyone and in everyone’s budget. Performance oriented Beef Bulls to Calving Ease heifer bulls, the selection is truly outstanding. The only time any females are made available is through our bull sale. My wife Rachelle is expecting for the end of February with our 3rd child…both sets of grandparents are excited to see if we can actually have a girl in our family! Bulls selling at the sale will have passed all essential tests and examinations. Every bull selling will be accompanied by a valid Breeding Soundness Evaluation Report, signed and stamped by a veterinarian of the Western Canadian Association of Bovine Practitioners.

The U.S. Exchange rate will be announced prior to the sale. We will attend to, and assist with, all necessary health testing, vet examinations, paperwork, and obtaining your state permits associated to export your animals. U.S Customs & UPS brokerage charges will be paid by the purchaser for a cost of $300 US. per animal paid to Transcon at the time of settlement.

Herd Health and Fertility:

All sale cattle have been treated twice with Ivermectin & are on Full Herd Health Express Program: Pyramid FP5+Presponse & Ultrabac7/Somnubac was given as calves & at weaning time. All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested & palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale.

Delivery Terms: Option A: Bull(s) will be delivered free of charge within 350 kms or to the nearest Canada/US border crossing. We will do our best to get them to your yard, however, at times, it may be required to meet at central locations. Delivery will be as soon as possible after the sale at the buyer’s risk and the seller’s convenience. Buyers must insure their bull(s) while being cared for at Rendezvous Farms. Heifers to be picked up on sale day, unless other arrangements have been made. We can assist the purchaser on coordinating transportation.

Sight Unseen Purchase Program: If you are unable to attend the sale but are interested in a bull or heifer, give any of our sales staff or David a call and they will personally go over the sale cattle and your program and recommend bulls or heifers that will suit your needs. Your complete satisfaction is our goal.

Sales Management Comments WE ARE HERE TO HELP SELECT THE RIGHT RENDEZVOUS BULL(S) FOR YOU!!! With this large selection of high quality bulls that we will have gone through in depth by sale day, we can confidently assist you with appraisals on one or multiple bulls, and if necessary, bid/buy on your behalf. The Red Simmental bulls have the first set of very exciting sons from the $70,000 Skor’s Rampage! As a side note, it was “Rampage’s” mother and sister that were the lead off lot at the legendary Skor dispersal for $25,500! The sons are a lot like daddy, they are big, long, thick and dark red! Although not apples to apples, this reminds me of the first time “Charles” sons sold, similarly exciting. Staying in the Red pen, “Patriot”, whom is the maternal brother to “Sherriif”, has sons that really are curve benders from low birth to great growth. They stand out. Another new group, that come right down the middle, are the “Legacy” sons. They have a ton of built in calving ease as well. I believe the Black Simmi group are the most evenly matched group to ever be put together by Rendezvous Farms. The almost patented thick haircoats, thick tops and thick hips are obvious here. “Direct Drive” has sired several of these again and can be proud. Well of course as I get to the Fullblood pen, you know who has to be mentioned, yes, “Charles”, and he’s done in it spades again! This bull breeds so strong and consistently it’s simply amazing! Now a big honorable mention in the FB group needs to go to “Commander” who has some sons that at first glance you may just presume they are by “Charles”! Charles or Commander, take your pick, the FB pen is strong! The heifer group is slightly less in numbers this year but probably up on quality and consistency. Of course the same sire codes are going to exist on these ladies as on their brothers selling. We are excited for the Maguet families for having their first on farm bull sale in their beautiful, new, spacious sale-barn/shop/truck wash-bay, etc., it’s a large area! This is a large mixed farm and the building will be used for each facet of the business. Of course we will be moving to a video format which is so much easier on the cattle (and the people!). Homo Polled. We’re quite excited with Red Express! He was the lead off bull at Herdmasters 2013. Doug Zimmer had nothing but praise for his mother, especially since Red Express was her first calf. Express was truly one of the thickest, deepest bodied bulls we saw in the spring of 2013. This stout made bull is an impressive individual, one of the only yearling bulls we’ve used that never lost any condition during breeding season. His super dark red color is something he passes on to his progeny as well. The combination of length, thickness & middle to this herd sire is something that blends nicely. His calves are born small & easy, they then keep growing & performing well. Last sale offering of sons & daughters to sell. Opportunity knocks so don't miss out. Walkerson is a bull we used last year in our red program after a few untimely injuries occurred with a few herdsires. Walkerson is in fact owned by our good friend Curtis Zdan of Alonsa. Having seen Walkerson in action & seeing the large group of replacement females sired by him when touring the powerful Zdan program for a few years now we felt he had a lot of potential to offer. We certainly thank Curtis for loaning him out to us when we were running low on bull power in prime breeding season. Walkerson is one of the largest, widest topped herdsires we’ve seen in a long time, likely since the Hummer days. The outcross pedigree was also a huge bonus to us. One of the first things Curtis & Tanis mentioned about the Walkerson progeny is their quiet nature & calves always wanting a scratch. You’ll easily notice that trait when you tour the bull & heifer pen here.

Homo Polled. Finding that right heifer bull is always a challenge & a half for any producer. Red Knight was earmarked for that purpose when we purchased him in 2014. Mothered by a black Powerline first calf daughter, Terry & Debbie Skoretz felt he would calve well & also give the kind of performance we were looking for from our heifers. Not one single calf of his was assisted at birth & man do they look good a year later. Red Knight travels like a hovercraft, smooth & steady. His muscle expression is impressive & he is developing into a well-balanced, smooth made herdsire. Red Knights has really stepped up to the plate and has surpassed all our expectations in every domain. Perhaps our most ‘undiscovered’ herdsire we use.

The depth of body, natural thickness, amazing hair coat & quarters that came down deep made him the ideal red bull we needed to add to our herdsire roster. Mandako turned out to be the high selling red of the day commanding $40,000 but he was worth every penny. Sired by the elite Godfather bull & mothered by a tremendous female that Doug Zimmer raved about, the pedigree in Mandako is bullet proof. We feel that Mandako’s progeny will be the herd building type. This is the last set of progeny to sell as we had the misfortune of losing Mandako to a broken leg.

Without a doubt one of the most talked about bulls to sell in the spring of 2016. Charles was bred by the wonderful people at Lockhart Valley Simmentals, Rimbey, AB. Lee, Tina & Hanna Robson toured us around their farm & made sure to show us Photo taken Jul/19 the dam of this great bull. After only a few minutes of viewing both “mother & son”, my wife Rachelle & I knew that we had to own Charles, there was no other alternative. We also knew there would be some very strong competition in doing so. When the dust settled, we managed to purchase him outright for a ground breaking $75,000! We felt we needed to add this powerful, perfectly made, genetically unique individual to our herdbull roster for our customers as we know too well that trying to find that ideal individual in the Fullblood business is a very, very tough job. In all honesty, I’ve never been so excited about a bull as the day we saw Charles & that feeling has continued every single day. His first calf crop was embraced by both Purebred and Commercial breeders with his sons averaging $10,616. The best thing we’ve ever done was use Charles in our program. We truly believe the best thing you can do is to use his sons.

As our black program has grown over the years the need to add a black calving ease heifer bull to our roster also became apparent thus led us to the purchase of LFE 3173C (Direct Drive). This long bodied, mellow made, deep sided herdbull was the ideal candidate as he displayed great calving ease characteristics with his small head, smooth shoulders & clean lines. Born with a Photo taken Sep/19 small birth weight to a fantastic young female we really liked his curve bending abilities since he was one of the heavier long yearlings in the black offering at LFE that year. Direct Drive’s calving ease abilities did not disappoint, his calves come small and quick but get up & suck fast just the way we like it. Outcross pedigree to boot, we look forward to more of our bred heifers carrying Direct Drive’s service in the future.

Homo Polled. The high selling red bull from the well-respected Kuntz herd is also a maternal brother to the ever-popular calving ease Sheriff bull. We feel Patriot encompasses the similar calving ease traits of his well known brother but also adds a lot of length & growth to his calves all the while maintaining that moderate frame score Photo taken Sep/19 with good thickness. Patriot is a prime example of purchasing a good bull even though we were “bulled up” at the time. We really liked the structure of him as a yearling & when Dad (Richard) & I saw the cow family when touring the Kuntz herd we both felt we should add this bull to the battery on those merits as that kind of bull doesn’t come around every year. There’s a bit of a story as to how we acquired Percy 37D. He was originally purchased out of the MRL sale in 2017 by Grant Gordon, Kisbey, SK. When delivering cattle at Percyview one day, he showed me his bull pen. A particular blaze faced bull really stood out, he was so impressive, thick, long, wide topped & only a 2yr old! We kept this idea in the back of our mind & come the spring of 2019 after a few herdbulls getting injured we called up Grant to see if he would consider Photo taken Jun/19 parting with his awesome bull. Anyone who knows Grant will tell you he’s a heck of a good stockman & a real gentleman. As luck would have it, we managed to make a deal & Percy became our first blaze faced black herdsire. Percy himself is all about performance, his progeny have a lot of jam & should be a great fit for Angus cattle who need a bit more power. His calves are born a cycle later due to the fact that we acquired him well into breeding season.

Homo Polled, Homo Black. Our pick of the Beast Mode sons at Lewis’s 2019 sale where they were the feature sire group that year. Bringing fresh new genetics is paramount to our program & Avenger is a bull we are extremely high on. Homo Polled. We purchased Wizard for a number of reasons the same year we purchased Avenger from Lewis’s. A Cobra son, which combines awesome calving ease but still a lot of size. He had tested to be Homo Black but when the first 2 calves born were red out of black cows, it was evident there had been an error Photo taken Dec/18 from the lab. You will find some red & black progeny selling from Wizard, our black numbers are a touch lower than what they should have been & our reds jumped up a few but in any case, good cattle are good cattle which is what the Wizard calves are. Unfortunately Wizard stifled himself right before 2020 breeding season therefore this will be the only calf crop to sell from him.

Commander was our pick of the Black Gold bulls in the well respected Next Generation Sale in Lloydminster in March of 18. He was also their second high selling bull that day. Randy & Vanessa Noble showed me both the sire & dam of this impressive young bull which really helped me cement the idea of adding him to our herdbull roster. He weighed over 1600lbs on sale day at 13 months of age. His superior depth & overall thickness is transferred over to his calves as well. We’ve been very pleased with how well he has bred, calved & in the development of both male & female offspring. Commander saw heavy service this year & we feel will really complement the Charles line in the Fullblood program.

A new Fullblood bull who came to us from one of Canada’s elite Fullblood herds & some of the very best people in the breed, Harry & Michelle Satchwell. The Banquet bull is sired by the $130,000 Double Bar D Banker bull. Banquet himself has ideal bone size in a FB bull. He is that dark purple red color that is always so appealing. He calved like a charm on the variety of cows we used him on. You will find a few feature sons of Banquet who stack right up there with any other sire group.

Homo Polled. Our new heifer bull who’s really taking things to the next level. When I found this guy at Blair McIntosh’s herd, I really liked him & you know what they say about first impressions. The more I circled him, the better I liked him & felt he would be the answer for heifers. With an 84lbs birth weight, +10.9 CE number, on top of a smooth shouldered, small head & long bodied conformation we figured this guy would be ideal for our program. Blair also showed me his dam & she is a nice moderate made female with a nice udder. Fast track things to January 2020 when the real test would Photo taken Jan/19 come to reality. Perhaps the easiest calving sire we’ve used to date. These Legacy calves slide out so easily, a few pushes & they are out. We are absolutely thrilled with how his calves get up & grow. Homo Polled. Rampage was the all around best dark red bull we could find in the spring of 2019. The middle, hair, thickness & width of quarter would stop you in your tracks. We suspected he would be pricey but with our conviction of owning the top sires we can find, we purchased Rampage at a whopping $70,000. One of the other reasons this bull was so high on our radar was on account of his mother & her impeccable udder & foot structure. Out of 500+ cows at Skors, she was hands down their best walking cow & led off their dispersal being their top selling cow of the day. Anytime we spend this kind of money, the expectations are also rather large. Rampage has hit the ball out of the park with his first calf crop as you will see with his 14 sons selling. These bulls are just like him, thick, hairy, wide topped & big nutted. We feel Rampage will become a big name in the Red Simmental business.

Unfortunately Powershift had the misfortune of suffering a bad injury within the first few days of breeding in the spring of 2019 & therefore only sired a handful of calves until his demise. A maternal brother sold in 2018 for $10,500 to some top end cattle producers north of Dauphin, Cody & Ron Gawazuk. HOMO POLLED. Every time I see this bull across the pen, he just has that rugged look to him, reminds me of Chevy’s song “Like a rock”. Stout, thick butted, square hipped, just chuck full of meat, which evidently is how Rampage stamps them. 244H is right up there in the red division. Ever since he was a calf, he seemed to command your attention. A maternal brother sold to Chet Jans of Fallen Timber Farms, BC in our 2019 sale. Here’s a popular Commander son who gets a lot of attention when touring the bull pen. Rightfully so, he’s so deep bodied, soggy, loose hided & sports a large set of nuts. For an end of January born bull to wean off at 1025lbs in early September, that in itself is quite a feat. However, the dam of this bull deserves some credit. Mid February nights can be quite chilly & with our older barns, everything calves outside then we sled them into the barn. This heifer stayed outside just a bit longer than she should have but nevertheless it sure didn’t slow her down from growing & gaining. BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for crediting more then the purchase price. No cash refunds. A credit shall be applied if the animal in question is deemed not to be a breeder. The term breeder is defined in the Canadian Simmental Association guidelines. EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties, and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken, must be between buyer and seller. The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
