Sales Management Comments
On behalf of all Consignors and Transcon Livestock, I welcome you to the 3rd Annual Working Girls Sale. I am very excited with this year’s offering. We have the largest sale to date, with the continued top-notch quality that this sale has quickly become known for. Thanks to all the consignors for digging deep into the hearts of their herds... and did they ever dig deep! The proof is in the pudding! We would like to welcome back last year’s consignors as well as thank the new consignors that will be joining the team this year. I have no doubt that our first-time consignors will fit right in, and their cattle will turn some heads and find some friends on sale day. I do not usually single out one consignor, however, I would like to give a big Thank-you to Bob Charolais, who has gone above and beyond this year. Bob is holding nothing back, and is bringing every single heifer calf off his place, close to forty head. Half will be sold and half will go back to his place. You pick which ones you want. Thanks Bob.

Welcome Charolais enthusiasts to Transcon’s Working Girls Charolais Female Sale 2018. BOB Charolais is very excited to be taking part again in this year’s sale. I’d like to thank Transcon Livestock, Jay and his crew, for the chance to market and showcase my entire replacement heifer calf crop. This year’s sale happens to be on December 8th which also is my 45th birthday so I invite you all to come to Innisfail Auction Mart and check out the great selection of Charolais females being offered by me and my fellow contributors, let’s make this a sale and birthday bash to remember. Having a breeding herd with very little “Throw Aways” as I refer to my culls, you would think is a good problem to have. Well it is! With an almost achieved herd size and low cull rate I am able to offer you the chance of owning the heifer of your choice. I’m bringing my entire replacement heifer pen to the Working Girl Sale in paired lots this December 8th. You, the buyer, get the choice of either A or B heifer from each lot, and I believe so strongly in the quality of what I have to offer that the remaing heifer will return home to continue on in the herd. In essence, you will be doing the hard job of which I could not decide, which heifers would be offered up and which stay in the herd. I believe in fair opportunity, nothing is being held back. This is truly an honest bunch of working females and all have the genetic potential to do great things. I welcome you come by the ranch ahead of time, see the mothers of this exceptional group of heifers, all heifers are HALTER BROKE, have been familiarized with drinking from a water pail and eating from a feed tub! They are ready for a junior or 4-H project. All heifers come with a BOB Charolais breeding guarantee to settle. A quarter of the heifers are from first calf heifers which I feel is an added example of how strong a cow base these heifers come from. Most of you will recognize the sires from their success in the industry and the others are new herd sires and this is their first calf crop on the ground. There are nine Chuck Wagon heifers lots; 1A, 1B, 4A, 7A, 9A, 11A, 12A, 15A, and 17A.There are seven Hooey heifer lots; 2B, 3A, 4B, 6B, 10B, 12B, and 18A. There are seven Chavez heifers lots; 3B, 5A,7B, 8B, 10A, 15B, and 16A. There are four PH Callahan heifer lots; 8A, 13B, 14B, and 19B. There are three Home Grown heifer lots; 2A, 5B, and 16B. There are two Cederdale Zeal heifer lots; 11B and 14A. There are two CML Gusto 662D heifer lots; 6A and 17B. There are two Winn Mans Swagger 952Y heifer lots 9B and 19A. There is one FERN Olaf 16C heifer, Lot 13A. There is one WEA Anchor Zeus 13Z Heifer Lot 18B.

Your choice of two outstanding Chuck Wagon heifers. 34F is from a three year old that I think very highly of, 125C, a Circle Cee Legend going back to Gridmaker. Her first calf was in this very sale last year, a Chavez BOB 93E. I wanted to bring out my two best heifer calves to represent my program and she was one of them, selling to Kody Meir, Hopewell Charolais from Biggar, SK. Thanks again for your support Kody! 43F is out of a Pastor embryo daughter from the great Wood River Princess 28N cow who has shown how powerful her daughters can be, producing the 2015 National Champion Female. This Pastor daughter is a powerhouse, her first bull calf by Chavez sold to Paul Wiens from Herschel, SK at the top end of the 2018 Springside’s Bull Sale.

Your choice of a Chuck Wagon heifer or a Winn Mans Swagger 952Y heifer. BOB’s Mercy Me 61F is out of a performance Ice daughter which can be be seen in her heifer calf with ample muscle expression in the lower hind quarters. Both these heifer calves are out of three year olds with a whole lot of future ahead of them. BOB’s LaLa Puluza 84F is from the moderate, deep bodied, extremely solid footed Winn Mans Swagger bull. Only two heifers and three bull calves sired by him yet all five are outstanding and the bull calves are sure to be a feature in this spring’s 2019 Legacy Bull Sale.

I believe in honesty and being up front about the BOB Charolais program. This year there were 50 heifer calves born of which 4 died for various reasons and 4 were twins to bull calves, 3 were culled, one with frozen ears, one for performance, and one for composition. The only heifer calf not being offered for sale is BOB 14F, a Chavez heifer calf who was selected and purchased by Tyler Young before this idea of BOB’s Beauties selling as an entire group. Tyler is an enthusiastic junior and he showed 14F in the National Show at Farmfair this fall. Tyler I wish you great success.

A calving ease daughter of HC Blue Rock and one that will be easily found come sale day. Lots of performance in this broody girl while still maintaining that well below birth numbers. The dam of 7231E is out of a bull the late, great Rob Holowaychuk picked out for us on one of his tours through North Dakota. We lost the bull prematurely but the daughters he left behind are definitely the right kind.

EPDs: 5.7 0.9 32 65 23 39 Exposed Apr 25 to July 1 to Reese Duke 239D PMC719577. Preg checked safe to early in exposure. This absolute beauty of a bred is a classic combination of two of our very favourite cow families! These are cow families that have proven their worth time and time again. We can’t say enough about them – they’re the easy fleshing, big bodied, sound, good footed, great milking, easy on the eyes, consistently cranking out the good ones type . . . the type that make you happy and make you money! The dam of this bred heifer, 1C, has an udder that is made to last, is all sorts ONL Miss Allie 6D ONL Ella Rose 14F of good looking and is two for two on giving us beautiful daughters! The full sister to 1C, ONL Miss Allie 6D, is a cow that we are showing this fall. She was full sister to dam sired by Reese Duke 239D Champion Charolais Female at Olds Fall Classic. The full brother to 1C and 6D, ONL AWR Cool Cub 7C, was the 2018 National Reserve Champion Bull at Denver. The JIL Misty 123Z cow now resides in Texas, as a donor at Aces Wild Ranch. Selling her was only imaginable because of the strong set of daughters and granddaughters she has left us. Parting with this heifer was not a decision we took lightly, but we believe in offering our best; our customer’s success is our success. On the sire side, ONL Chara 4B, has been hard at work at Wilgenbusch Charolais since being sold in our 2015 bull sale. His mother, 298Z, is a tank of a cow that is a no miss for us. If we are putting in any later embryos, we more often than not resort to the 298Z embryos because they have so much grow and power to them. Miss Allie 3E sells bred to our calving ease sire, Reese Duke 239D. This bull is also the sire of the heifer calf, ONL Miss Ella Rose 14F, who is on the 6D cow that we are showing this fall. 3E comes right from the heart of our program. This good looking, maternal machine in the making is backed by an impressive pedigree, plus she’s super quiet and gentle natured. Definitely the kind you want to be loading up and taking home on sale day!!

We are excited to be back at the Working Girls sale this year! This year we have on offer two young tan cows that are three quarter sisters that are both bred to one of our new exciting herd sires, PH PERSONA 38D. We are also offering a bred heifer out of Mactavish Ironhide 31B who is bred to the popular calving ease sire, Circle Cee Legend 307A. This year we had our first Ironhide daughters milk and they did not disappoint by giving us nice sized udders with excellent teat size and placement.

January 04 2014
Exposed Mar 28 to May 31 to PH Personna 38D PMC711467. Preg checked safe for an early February calving. JOR 1B is a tank of a cow. She exemplifies the values of excellent cows. She has the power and capacity to raise not only powerful bull calves but also the femininity to raise fancy heifer calves. When looking at 1B you have to admire her pedigree which combines excellent red factor sires such as Crystal D National 19N with the maternal aspects of her sire Elder’s Raptor 43Y, whose daughters are really coming into their own as spectacular cows.

We have brought to town two totally rips of females. This is the first time we’ve consigned to Working Girls and really wanted to do it right. First impressions go a long ways in any situation and this heifer is no exception. 148F will blow ‘ur hair back! I love how feminine she is through the front end and how much capacity and natural muscle definition she carries into her lower third of her quarter. Yes, she definitely has show presence and will, and would be, very competitive. If you like ‘em with hair, guts and butts 148F will ring ‘ur Struts.

Open. Homo Polled. Miss Prairie Cove 804F is a powerful daughter of Miss Prairie Cove 407B our White Hot Donor. A big volume female that will add value to any program, she has that fantastic hair and good skull structure. This female will be a bull maker as well as a money maker. These are the ones Jay loves -- big body, lots of hair, and easy fleshing. A sister to the high seller in Working Girls last year went to Wilgunbush Charolais and Craig says she looks great. Buy with confidence on this pedigree stacked female.

Bred April 11 to PZC Bottoms Up 5011 PEMC722933. What a bred heifer to sell at this great event Transcon puts on every year. A powerful Charolais female here. She’s a PCC Rome 437B daughter that adds so much capacity and do ability but yet still has a great look. She is laying down a super udder and being bred to PZC Bottoms Up 5011 sure is an added feature as he calves easy and they just grow like crazy. This is an interesting mating that will be a sure fire easy sell next year.
