Right to Retain Semen
We reserve the right to draw semen for inherd use on any of the bulls in the sale, at our expense and the buyers convenience.
Board & Delivery
• We prefer the bulls to be insured and will not assume any risk or responsibility if your bull is returning to our care. Bulls may return to Footprint Farms and will remain on ration.
• We will deliver bulls at our convenience to central locations in Alberta and
• Saskatchewan. In most cases, to your yard.
• We will work with our buyers arranging transportation outside of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Welcome to the annual Footprint Farms bull sale. This year marks our 23nd year of Footprint Farms selling Charolais bulls. We are proud of the fact we have been selling bulls for many years and we are excited for the future of selling bulls for many more years to come.
It’s never more obvious today of the benefits of using a Charolais bull. The calves your bull sires will continuously bring more money at sale time than any other breed, no matter if you’re a cow-calf producer, backgrounder, or finisher. It’s a proven fact.
Our herd has changed over the years and we’ve made a conscious effort to lower birth weight and increase calving ease without sacrificing weaning weights, overall growth and structure. Using a Charolais bull is not a fad and the market has always demanded Charolais genetics and will so for many years.
Please be our guest and join us on March 20th to view our offering in this year’s sale. The sale will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the hopes that a later start will allow everyone a little more time to do your chores before rushing off. Again, our sale is a video sale. NO BULLS will be entering the building. We will have the bulls penned right beside the heated building for your viewing. So if for any reason you need to look at the bulls while the sale is on, you simply walk out the door and the bulls will be right there. The spacious pens will allow you to walk around the outside of each pen on three sides, allowing safe viewing for both yourself and the bulls. I would again urge everyone to come early and score every bull. In other words, make a larger list than you normally would just to make sure you are prepared for bulls not entering the building. We value your efforts in attending and want this to be beneficial for yourself, all the while still allowing the bulls to be stress free.

Let us know the type of bull you’re looking for, the type of cows you are breeding these bulls to, and we will do our best to find a bull that meets your needs. If you cannot attend the sale, we encourage you to take advantage of DLMS online services.
The bulls can be viewed at home prior to sale day. This will allow you to be able to appraise the bulls at your own pace. Sale morning the bulls will be penned by 12 PM, to allow plenty of time for viewing. We know some of you are calving, so rest assured we run a quick sale which will have you back on the road if need be. Montreal smoked meat will be on the menu with all the fixin’s, following the sale. As always, I look forward to visiting with everyone on sale day. See you at the ranch.

Reference Sire - DCR Blue Print
Blue Print was a sire we used through AI this past year. He calved extremely well for us and you could expect his calves roughly 10 days early on the average. His calves grew like weeds and never looked backed. They are heavy muscled, wide bodied and travel well on great feet and legs. We will continue to utilize his genetics in the upcoming years.
Reference Sire - KS Level Up
He was a Merritt Round Up son who I saw as a calf and quite liked. When Semex offered male sexed semen I jumped at the chance to make a bunch of Round Up grandsons. The Round Ups who have been offered for sale in our past sales have always created a strong demand. They are a commercial cattlemen’s dream, with their length, depth and thick hair coats.
Reference Sire - LT Governor
Governor hit the scene with as much hype as I’ve seen in a long time on a Charolais bull the spring he sold. As Brent Theil said to me “Travis he’s a man among boys in this years pen”. Rightly so, as he commanded $220,000 with multiply groups of breeders bidding for ownership. We used him through AI and couldn’t be more happy with the results.. His sons are true performance bulls and are in the top of this years bull pen. Big soggy made and have great dispositions.
Reference Sire - RBM Keystone
I had admired Keystone for his muscle shape and his overall attractiveness, but when I was touring at RBM & saw his mother I knew I wanted to use him in our program. Keystone has sired a lot of top end cattle up here in Canada in the last two years. We used him in a couple embryo matings and the results speak for themselves, with his two sons being sale features.
Reference Sire - Legacys Game Day
Game Day is a bull who I feel exemplifies what the commercial cattlemen seeks when looking for a herd sire. He is heavy muscled, with a wide stance, and is wrapped in a thick hair coat. We used him through AI & embryo transfer so you can expect more sons in the upcoming sale offerings.
Reference Sire - LT Affinity
Affinity was brought back into the AI rotation when breeding our heifers 2 years ago, and for good reason. He flat out calves! He’s no spring chicken, but he works so well, no matter if he sires a male or female calf they calve well and continue to grow into replacement quality cattle. I saw his mother last year and was blown away. At the age of 12 she still had an impeccable udder & perfect feet. I was so taken with her we bought her LT Governor son at side in the following spring bull sale. Look for more to come on LT Senator!
Reference Sire - HRJ Juro 151J
Juro is a new bloodline added two years ago. You will appreciate his beautiful profile, with his small head and smooth front shoulders. He has lots of width & length body and is wrapped in a thick hair coat. As well, he is really easy to handle. He has passed all of these qualities onto his offspring. These sons will be a great option when searching out a calving ease sire who will also add punch and growth to the calves in the fall.
Reference Sire - LT Signature 6136D
Signature is a bull I selected out of the famous Lindskov- Theil herd in South Dakota. I was searching for a bull with not only calving ease, but a bull who would increase weaning and yearling weights. When I first laid eyes on this guy, I immediately was taken with how quiet, and easy to handle he was. I loved his depth, width and overall muscle, along with his easy moving stride. Once I found his picture perfect dam I knew I had to own him. He still has a great big foot under him, and is maturing into a very large bull. This is Signature’s fifth set of sons to sell and they do not disappoint.
Reference Sire - Footprints Slim Jim 265K
Slim Jim is a homegrown bull we retained from our 2023 sale to use on our heifers. He has not disappointed us in the least. We are extremely impressed by Slim Jim’s ease of calving. He follows that up with calves that grow well all summer and throughout the feeding season.
Reference Sire - War Lord 2003F
I selected Warlord out of 1200 bulls at De Bruyckers in Montana, and was extremely excited to be able to have the winning bid on him. Warlord was selected to lower birthweight, add hip and lower quarter. While maintaining growth and a lots of hair. It didn’t hurt he followed me around the pen sniffing my hand either. Warlord is tested homo polled, making all his offspring polled as well. His dam was a beautiful hard-working young cow. With great feet and udder. I’m really excited about the future of Warlord and his future impact on our herd.
Reference Sire - WCR Commissioner 593P
WCR Commissioner is back again this year. The results are as expected, he sired bulls just as I had hoped he would. They calve light and continue to have rapid growth. They are easy to find in the pen with their eye appeal. I think they will sire an amazing set of feeder calves.
Reference Sire - KCH Lode King
Lode King was a tan bull I bought a few years back, he was everything I was looking for. He was quiet & super sound & loaded with lots of muscle. Unfortunately he broke a leg only a year into his time here. I decided to dip back into the AI tank and try him again, I’m glad I did. He calves well, the calves grow well and he holds color.
Reference Sire - El Paso
We were looking for a proven mature herd sire a couple years ago to fill a void from an injured bull. When the opportunity to buy El Paso presented itself I jumped on it. I had tried buying him as a yearling and had always watched his development from a far. His sons and daughters have performed well both at Steppler Farms, Highbluff Stock Farms, and as well as here. He has a big square foot underneath him, plus he’s easy to handle along with a great curly haircoat. This is his third year of progeny here and I’m really pleased with his contribution to our bull battery. His sons & daughters are some of our best and I look forward to his following calf crops.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager.
Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. No by-bidding will be permitted. A reasonable price base may be set.
Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final.
Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Certificate of registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made.
Breeders Guarantee, bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of purchase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.
The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time.
Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
Mail or telephone bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Rights and obligatations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

A few years back we were on the search of a high end foundation type donor cow. We spent many hours researching pedigrees and production on some of the most elite cows in the breed. We dipped our toes into the Brenda cow by buying a flush on her through the National Sale in Denver. With great results we pursued the opportunity to buy an interest in her. This cow has a production history that is hard to beat by already producing high selling and nationally utilized sons for her other owners in the states. Her three sons in this years sale are only the beginning of the influence this powerhouse will bring to this sale over the next few years and we are excited to say the least.

ABOUT OUR FEED PROGRAM
This year yielded excellent quality cereal silage and hay, allowing a high-forage ration with premium quality whole brown oats, as the basis for Footprint Farms’ bulls development. This low-starch, yet high quality diet, is key for long-term soundness in breeding bull. As proper nutrition doesn’t begin at weaning, each year, a well-balanced feeding program is in place from conception to sale time. Utilization of organic mineral technologies and proper vitamin supplementation throughout the year optimizes health and growth in the bulls for sale every year.
The extra time and effort taken to ensure consistent feed supply, consistent mixing and delivery to the feed-bunk, provides the results seen in the cattle on sale-day, and results in the future.
