’ve been exploring my world through a camera lens my whole life. In addition, I love the tactile feel of working with textiles. I now combine these two passions into what I call Photo Fiber Panels. A photo capturing a moment of time is created into a work of fiber art. I strive to shoot Zen-like photos which are printed onto cotton poplin sateen. These are layered onto silk and linen and embellished with hand embroidery and machine stitching to enhance the photo. Runaway Train employs the technique of ICM - intentional camera movement, and speaks to the internal loop in my head of how to regain control of my time and life. It is a pull between my Prostitute Archetype (time/value) & Caretaker (job/ family responsibilities) VS. my Seeker

Archetype (need space to be creative). How do I serve those I need to serve, while becoming the Artist I want to be? I imagined jumping off this children’s train onto the platform; exiting the station and starting up a path to my destination (my studio). This scenario did not sit well with me. I revised the story to “I am the Conductor and the speeding train is a metaphor for my life”… I can dictate the speed of the train… I can invite and un-invite people onto my train. As long as I remember I am the Conductor of my train I will be able to set the pace of my life. With the help of my Prostitute and Caretaker, I will be able to fulfill my Seeker’s desires to live the creative life of an artist seeking to make sense of her world through photos.
