D av i d M a n n David Mann was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Weber State University with a major in art education. As a young man, he developed a strong interest in the Native American and Western cultures. He enjoyed accompanying his father, an amateur artist, to art venues and painting expeditions. At an early age, he collected any Russell and Remington prints he could locate. David has lived among the Apache, Navajo and Pueblo tribes. These associations enabled him to experience the culture of Indian life. He enjoys painting images of the American Indian and western history that express his fascination with this slice of Americana. He is known for his strong design patterns and vibrant color along with the play of light and shadows. He has sought to balance attention to detail and reality with creative energy and imagination. David has participated in several prestigious museum exhibitions and sales, including the Prix de West and the Autry National Center’s Masters of the American West. The Changing West
