The American School of Warsaw sees the future reflected in our students’ independent thinking, humane values and ethical actions in the realization of their dreams. The American School of Warsaw is a college-preparatory, Pre-K through grade 12, independent, not-for-profit international community school. ASW offers both the American High School Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Founded in 1953, ASW has been a leader in international education for more than 60 years, providing a rigorous, supportive, and welcoming environment to all of our 875 students. ASW is located in Warsaw, the historic yet modern capitol of Poland. Poland provides a rich backdrop for education. A center for science, technology, and business, Poland has one of the strongest economies in Europe. With a strong national appreciation for the arts, Warsaw supports a professional Opera, Ballet, and National Symphony as well as a National Gallery of Art and a Modern Art Museum all of which enrich our community and our classrooms.

In 2001 ASW moved to a state-of-the-art 25 acre campus just south of the Warsaw city limits in a 21.600sq meter building that includes 91 classrooms, a 365 seat performing arts theater, a block box classroom theatre, 4 football fields, an indoor swimming pool, a community fitness center, 5 music rooms, as well as additional field and play areas.

ASW offers a college-preparatory American curriculum in addition to the International Baccalaureate Program. Elective offerings include Fine Arts, Theater, Technology, and Music in addition to a wide array of Native and Foreign Language Offerings. Native language instruction is provided in Polish, English, Korean, and Swedish. Foreign Language offerings include Polish, French, German, and Spanish. In addition support is provided through Grade 10 for English as an Additional Language Learners.

international baccalaureate program The IB Diploma requires successful completion of 6 two-year-long academic subjects from prescribed areas, a course in Theory of Knowledge, an independently researched essay of 4000 words, as well as documented hours in the areas of Creative Growth, Activity, and Service to Others.

extra-curricular program ASW Students are able to participate in a wide variety of athletic, cultural and service-oriented activities. ASW is a full member of regional sport and cultural associations including the Central Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) as well as the Sports Council of International Schools (SCIS). The three seasons of sports include varsity and junior varsity teams for soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, softball, tennis, track & field, and cross country. Students may also participate in many other activities, including jazz band, speech & debate, outdoor clubs, environmental clubs, Model United Nations, math team, and student council.
