spatial composition|frame&grid

plan 1:1@a3

This model is composed by three cubes in different sizes. The variation of linkages grants the cantilevered form with dynamic density and transparency. Different thickness of slats does not only create a pattern of the framework, but also enhances its shadow with a sence of continuity.

landforming|extrusion&subtraction

plan 1:1@a3

By using the extrusion and subtraction technique, a loop of circles forms a stepping landform of the model. The idea of cutting also applied to the left-over space. With the presence of light, the unbroken curved form can be demostrated more dynamic. section 1:1@a3

4

assemblage|disjunction The cube framework and the circular stepping landform are taken as the basic elements of forming this assemblage model. Some cubes are reformed into slat form and upright on the extruded and subtracted platforms. Even though they are physically disjunctive, the shadows connects them again and seems to become a whole.

spatio-temporal narrative|debating Once upon a time, there were two powerful wizards, who hungered to rule the whole world. They treated the each other as their major rival. In every issue, they actively involved and took different stands in order to gain more and more supporters. Every debate never ended in a settlement. Thus, they would play a chess game to come to a close of that conflict. In the game, they used their magic power to control their chesses and attack each other. Every attack would make a distruction in the real world. At the end of this narrative, the world became a place no longer suitable for human to live.

Three previous works form a collage by superimposing each other in the order above. Some colored shapes are inserted to the top layer to emphasis some regular figures found in the collage. These help to form the prototype of the plan in final project.

Three circles from the collage are taken as the major components of this design. By the idea of disjunction, they are transformed into strip form and become a set of frame structure.

section c 1:100@a0

These three zones can facilitate different styles of debating activities to occur. The largest one has a very shinny surface, probably made of aluminmum. It provides a stage for public dabate. People can go to this public space and start a debate in a forum farmat. The middle one are made of stainless steel. This dullsurface material give this space a semi-public atmosphere. Vistors can sit under the shadows of the frames and start a conversation with friends. Debate may happen in this way with a relaxed manner. The smallest one is a private debate venue. It provides a cell space for people to initiate a tense and closed debate. This space are made of iron and copper, with some taste of corrosion, representively. The dark environment enhances the degree of privacy and mystery.
