omodemic is all about photography, which we as hipsters naturally consider to be the highest possible form of art. Plato on the other hand would not agree with us as he would see photography and every form of art in general, as a weak copy of nature. He would laugh at the fact that we are trying to educate young people by using an art form, which according to him is misleading and hinders humans from seeing the real truth. This is why we choose to ignore Plato for the rest of our editorial and take this opportunity to present you Plotinus. Despite the seven centuries difference between the two, Plato was clearly an iconic inspiration for Plotinus who became the distinguished founder of neoplatonism. Neoplatonisme states that nothing will ever get as close to perfection as art -that and #delfies of course-. lthough it is quite evident that all hipsters love triangles, it seems the reason why they love them remains unclear. Luckily, I am here to save the day and succeed in an investigation where so many have failed. Hipsters thrive on irony so if we are to understand why they love triangles, we have to be on the same ironic level as they are. Triangles are tessellating shapes that fit everywhere. Hipsters on the other hand are ostracized creatures, which wear clothes older than your grandmother, criticise coffee in their spare time and take pictures of everything (indeed, the editors do qualify). Their fondness for triangles is like a magnet, as polar opposites, they attract. Where triangles, according to geometrises, fit in everywhere, hipsters do not fit in at all. Like Yin and Yang, light and dark or life and death, one cannot exist without the other. #deepstuff #cheapstuff #whothehellwritesthesethings #andwhothehellcares #ido

recently found myself completing a Buzzfeed quiz which provided an answer to the all-important, life-altering question: Which Harry Potter Character are you? The site has had a unique success in capturing the attention of millions of viewers without really doing anything. It serves no valuable purpose but to entertain with an abundance of random lists, factually incorrect articles and addictive quizzes. I mean who doesn’t want to see, “thirty-one heart-warming photos of animals returning home after bushfire evacuations?” Furthermore, isn’t it obvious that questions of your favourite One Direction song or place to go on holiday are crucial in determining which Jane Austen character you are? Ultimately, no matter how preposterous Buzzfeed is, we will continue to love this site as a form of useless and cheap entertainment. Oh well, we all have quilty pleasures!

omography is an organisation dedicated to the unique imagery qualities and creative visual expression of photography. The principles of Lomography were based on the analogue USSR Lomo Camera. Pictures with this camera could be taken mindlessly from the hip and produce overwhelming images. Nevertheless, this unique and easy style of visual expression got lost in the digital revolution. Therefore the goal of Lomography is to re-introduce this impulsive bohemian approach to photography. The media team wants to contribute to this revolution and has therefore chosen the name Lomodemic to represent them during the session. “Lomo” is obviously referring to Lomography whereby “demic” refers to the academic input of the articles. As hipsters we tend to create a unique and creative style of photography so why go digital if you can go Lomo?

hat era was cooler than the 90s? Classic television series such as Friends and The Fresh Prince dominated TV screens. Music from the Back Street Boys, Jamiroquai and Britney blasted through speakers around Europe. The evolution from neon leggings to hippy peace signs to the grunge music scene was iconic. Even now, with the return of bands like Daft Punk and hipster house music, the lasting impact from the 90s is evident. So, ladies and gentleman, let us embrace and reignite that feisty spirit. Bring back the neon leggings, the greasy boy bands and Joey Tribiani (especially him!) and as Britney would say, “Hit me (with the 90s) baby one more time.�

ou have them, too. Yes, we are talking about those things that you secretly love, but are too ashamed of to share with your friends, also known as ‘guilty pleasures’. Here are some that will make you blush of recognition: dancing on a catchy tune from ‘One Direction’, that marvellous taste of an extra chocolate cookie, the warm feeling of a fluffy Onesie from Primark or the sensation of a just turned over pillow with the cold side touching your cheek. Last but not least: sneaky watching the new episode of a scandalous TV drama even though you have much more important things to do. So, what are your guilty pleasures?

ast year, the tickets for Lowlands were sold out within 45 minutes. This year the popularity of the well-known summer festival declined immensely. Two days after the ticket sale opened, only 50.000 of the 55.000 tickets were sold. Although this sounds like a lot, this is very unpleasant surprise for a festival as popular as Lowlands. According to authentic Lowlanders the love is gone. This is partially a result of the disappointing lineup as the headliners have become more of a letdown each year. However, in 2000, Coldplay blew the festival away. This year rumours were that Skrillex would be the main act, a big disappointment to many. The increasing expenses are another reason. Not only have the ticket prices gone up but the alcohol prices have risen as well. This alone is enough to discourage any festival goer. Nevertheless, the organisation believes the spirit is still alive. The festival will probably lose its typical crowd, but gain faithful hipster lowlanders. The days of the popular mainstream music seems to be over for the polder party.

GREAT ARTISTS STEAL
while ago I went to this hyped movie ‘The Hobbit’ with high expectations and great excitement. Guess what? It was an absolute waste of my time. As I never fall asleep while watching a film, me falling asleep three times in a row absolutely proves this. What is this movie actually about? A few bearded, filthy minions fighting ugly other minions for THREE hours long! A storyline that has no build up. Fighting, fighting, fighting, the end. All of this is annoying of course, but what I actually find the most irritating, is that everybody loves this movie! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I don’t enjoy fantasy. When you get to know me a little bit you’ll discover that I am a major Harry Potter fan, I’ll expand on that later on. Yet this completely unrealistic dwarf story is not worthy of being called a fantasy.
