SPATIAL STUDY This particular exercise was intended to deal with spatial issues within a given volume, where the procedure was to create a transformation of the volume from a projected grid. The newly transformed space was intended to be built for a 5’ tall agoraphobic women, whom feels safest when she is confined into the tight interior space. The following diagrams show the processes of transformation of this volume into an interior space that is bound by the grid and the language of the previous form.

The design has a total of 8 studios, 3 one bedroom units, and 3 two bedroom units. The anemities of the design include a recreational room located on the ground floor which can be used for various activities such as a gym or game room. Located on the third floor, is a community pool along with a bar and service area that provides entertainment for the occupants choosing to use the space.

Major Architectural Components: -The project is 14 Units: 8 Studio units, 3 One-Bedroom Units, and 3 Two Bedroom Units -Studio and one bedroom units are arranged along the south side of the project, with the two bedroom units situated along the west side of the project, forming and L configuration. -The L configuration circulates around a doughnut frame structure for the units which support a cantilever that extends passed the first two floor levels.

Construction Type -Type I-A….…………….Parking Garage -Type V-B……………….Residential Units

Structural System -The parking level will have retaining walls through its parameter. -The new ground floor concrete slab is to be supported by the concrete retaining walls. -The vertical wood timber structure runs upwards along the west side and continues towards the east side where the third floor structure is cantilevered slightly out above the first two floors. -Columns situated along the west side, east side, and center area are the primary vertical structure for the units which circulate around in a doughnut frame.

LUMINAIRE DESIGN This project was designed for a student competition and the purpose was to design a futuristic desk lamp that was adjustable and safe for the use of a child. My approach was to make a lamp that was adjustable in any direction and shielded by a transluscent lamp shade mounted to the base of the light fixture. The lamp has a six foot cord and large in-line switch that makes it easy to switch the fixture on and off.
