Introduction This portfolio consists of selected projects which I have been worked on during my studies and professional career. I have been working on various range of projects in several countries. Currently, I am working for one of my tutor in University of Sheffield, helping her with one of her participatory research project and completing research archive. I have worked for around 3 years before I continued my study in urban design in winter 2013, my experience was vary with wide range of project. I also active in young designer community in Surabaya. I keep developing my skill and knowledge. I am seizing every opportunity to learn new things from any kind of method such as book, discussion, lecture, workshop, and many more. I have experienced working in multidisciplinary collaboration and designing as a team. I have the ability to managed and organised my workflow in order to meet the deadline effectively and efficiently.
Urban Design This last couple years I have been studied on urban design, it has been my interest since I was in my third year in architecture school. Being able to study master in urban design has been such a great experience and open a lot of new knowledge for me both as an urban designer and architect. For my postgraduate course, I worked on several projects in different countries such as Africa, UK, and Indonesia. One of them is a proposal we developed for Department of Urban and Rural Planning of Zanzibar. The project was proposing several strategies based on our participatory and creative survey in order to develop a small village called Mkokotoni to become a future regional centre. The proposal has been recieved by the department and it will be evaluate, I believe that our idea can be a catalyst to generate greater idea for the city.

In his book “Life Between Buildings: Using Public Space” he divided the outdoor activities in public spaces into 3 categories, which are: necessary activities, optional activities, and social activities. Gehl talks a lot about human scale and ground level activities, looking at his theory which similar with Jane Jacobs theory in her book “The Death and Life of Great American Cities”. However, Gehl perspective is more about activating public spaces with generating a new outdoor activities or supporting the existing activities. In this case it will look into Castle Market area in Sheffield, UK. From the research and analysis about how Gehl approach towards this case, he will concentrate in re-generate this area which was the most famous area in Sheffield. He will also prioritising the most important user who is pedestrian, He will proposing a large pedestrian with cycling line and creating a green space and open space. Gehl will intervene the area with more attraction in human scale rather than in architectural form, “Wherever there are people-in buildings, in neighbourhoods, in city centres, in recreational areas, and soon-it is generally true that people and human activities attract other people.” “People choose to interact in public space eventhough they have the space in their private area”. “They want to meet people, interact with them even if it is only see or hear the people around them”.

There area a lot of existing activities in the area which can supported re-generating Castle Market area such as outdoor music performance centre by all the musician who always perform around Fargate St. and around The Moor. Besides that, the sketch show about converting Haymarket St. into public spaces by removing the vehicle street and replacing it with green space. New enterprises such as a new street cafe can emerge in this area which in Fargate St. they have it occasionally. People in Sheffield always have an activities during the weekend, this approach for Castle Market is a good way of offering Sheffielder a new activities in the same area where is familiar for them. By utilising the open spaces it can be the space for everyone from every age generation to use this space.
