Course Descriptions Orientation (open house) Attending one of our FREE orientation sessions is the best way to get involved at FPA. It offers a complete overview of our services and facilities. Plus, participants get to enjoy a personal tour of our studios! In-person orientations are scheduled once a month. However, as an alternative our orientation presentation is now available online. BEGINNER SKILL LEVELS Adobe Graphics for TV Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, students will learn how to create lower thirds, full screen graphics, and a video bug to use with their television productions. The class will also focus on file management and project planning procedures. Prerequisite: Orientation & knowledge of basic computer concepts. Certification requires the completion of class project. Min students: 2 / Max students: 6 6 sessions, of 3 hours each Adobe Rush CC Adobe Premiere Rush CC is Adobe’s new all-in-one video editing tool for desktop and mobile devices. The intent is to provide video content creators the tools to quickly edit and publish a video online in social media platforms. Nonetheless, beginners can easily learn these tools to edit video projects airing at our station. Rush incorporates tools from some of Adobe’s more advanced video and audio editing programs in an easy to access tool kit. If you are looking to learn how to edit your raw footage, add customize graphics, complete minor color / audio corrections and finalize your video project then this beginner 3 hour workshop is an ideal option. Prerequisite: Orientation & knowledge of basic computer concepts. Certification requires the completion of class project. Min students: 2 / Max students: 6 1 session, of 3 hours

Audacity Audacity is a free software program that will let you edit your audio files quickly (available for both PC’s or Mac’s). During this 3 hour audio editing workshop, you will learn to develop your audio skills by editing audio files, mixing music, voice, and sound effects while learn-ing the operations of this easy to use multi-track editor. You will also learn how to apply special effects such as reverb, echo, and frequency equalization. This program can be downloaded from www.audacity team.org. Students will need to have an external storage device such as a flash drive to save the class project. Prerequisites: Orientation & knowledge of basic computer concepts. Min students: 2 / Max students: 6 1 session, 3 hours Audio for Television Great looking shows must incorporate great audio to be successful. This course is designed to help achieve that by teaching fundamental ways to improve the audio quality of studio TV productions. Topics covered in the class include: understanding the different types of microphones, positioning them on the set and talent, conducting the essential microphone sound checks and monitoring the audio during the production. Prerequisite: Studio Camera Certification requires the completion of one (1) volunteer audio assignment. Min students: 2 / Max students: 6 2 session, 3 hours each Make-up for Television Learn all about the essential makeup application techniques, supplies and tools needed to help on-air talent personalities look their best. Appearance is one of the most influential factors in the audience’s initial decision concerning the credibility of the performer! To look effective on camera, makeup application will not only enhance your production, it will give the performer the added confidence they need to help make the show a success.
