Top Five Cosmetic Dental Treatments If you are looking for a bit of enhancement you may find that cosmetic dental treatments are the best option for you. Perhaps you would rather have the perfect smile, rather than worrying about having a wrinkle-free forehead.
As cosmetic dental treatments are becoming more popular throughout the country, the types of treatments which are now becoming readily available are increasing. In fact, there is such a dizzying array of potential treatments now available that it can be very difficult trying to decide what is the best option for you. This is why we have put together a list of the top five treatments that are available, to give you just that little bit more information to help you make a decision. 1. Teeth whitening – sadly losing the colour from your teeth is a part of the ageing process, and actually starts in the teenage years. Regular use of nicotine and coffee can speed up the process and leave you with stained and yellow pegs instead of beautiful pearly whites. There are three main options when it comes to teeth whitening including the use of lasers or light emitting wavelengths which react with pastes applied directly to the teeth, or on a mouth guard. Alternatively, you can avoid the lasers all together and opt for a home kit you can do yourself. 2. Veneers – these porcelain covers can be used to shape and mould around broken or damages teeth, providing an almost immediate perfect smile. Veneers are attached using a bonding agent, and can last for up to 20 years if looked after correctly. 3. Teeth straightening - unless you are blessed with a straight tooth gene there is a chance you may have a little bit of a wonky smile. While this may not be an issue for some, for others it is; however, the good news is that there are options available for straightening your gnashers. You can either wear a metal or even tooth-coloured brace which will, over time, pull teeth into position or you can undergo treatment with your dentist to reshape the gums and have veneers fitted.
4. Bridges - If you have a missing tooth, or a natural gap between teeth a bridge can be used to fill the hole. Hollow teeth covers are placed over the two existing teeth on either side of the gap, and a replacement tooth is slotted in the middle to give the impression of a full set. 5. White fillings – composed of glass particles or composite resin these are a fantastic option for people with small chips and holes in their teeth. These also have the added advantage of being a lot less costly than other options (approximately £95 per tooth) and can be completed in the space of one appointment.
