The Platypus August Newsletter Volume II Issue V
Hello Division 50 Hello Everyone, School is approaching. We may look at the negatives and say “I don’t want to go back”. But on the Brightside, you can start up again with key club. I know many of you lose interest in the summer. However, everything will soon begin to change. If you are an officer we will have a beginning of the year meeting through phone, email, video chat or in person. I can’t wait to start visiting your clubs at the end of the month. I hope to see you all attend eastside rally so you may receive proper training. Please remember you have to report to me and the district board. Lately I have not received a single secretary report. Remember Key club is a year round obligation. It is not something that stops when school stops, it keeps going. If you cannot handle the responsibilities please contact me immediately. In Caring and Service,
Jayleen Leon

Tips for a Membership drive Establish Goals. Set realistic goals for how many members you will try to gain. Advertise. If you really want people to join give them a reason to and show them key club is the best. Be organized. If you want people to join you have to have a plan and strategize Get help from outside sources. You can’t do it all by yourself this is why you have advisors and kiwanians to help you. Arrange for transportation. Not everyone can join because of transportation issues, make sure everyone gets a ride. Invite students to join. Do not discriminate. Assign duties to new members. If members feel involved most likely they will stay. The club structure. Educate members on how key club works and if you are in officer do not dictate.
Eastside Rally
Eastside Rally is approaching quickly, and it is important to come to the event prepared! First of all, you will need to plan a ride to the event. Please talk with your club’s president if you have not planned your ride to the event yet, and if you are a club president please contact me if you have not yet figured out transportation to the event. Please arrive at Moses Lake High School at 11 A.M. on August 16th for the event. Also, please remember to bring enough money to buy Eliminate merchandise if you plan to do that (which I strongly recommend doing). Bring an additional $30 to buy Eliminate merchandise, as well as bringing the appropriate amount of money to attend the event ($5 if you registered on eventbrite.com before Saturday, August 9th, and $7 if you registered on the 9th or after). Please also bring clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, as there will be a dunk tank that people can use to raise money for Eliminate (details will be explained at Eastside Rally). Besides just having money for the event, you must also bring your ticket (from registering online) and medical form to the event, which can be found in the registration packet
