REVEREND JEROME ROGERS, EULOGIST

Lundy Shirez Blue, Jr. was born October 8, 2000, to Diedra N. Smith and Lundy S. Blue Sr. in Belleville, IL. Lundy was affectionately known to his family as, “Rez”. Rez was educated in School District 189 and was a senior at East St. Louis Sr. High School. There he took honors-level courses and enjoyed his audio-visual classes through the Career and Technical Education Department. He was also involved in Gear Up 189 and had participated in college tours and was preparing to attend an upcoming tour to Morehouse and a few other Georgia universities. Rez had aspirations of matriculating at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee in the fall, majoring in engineering. He was also looking forward to possibly furthering his audio visual skills in some capacity. Rez also participated in Phi Beta Sigma’s Sigma Beta Club, Beta Boys that he was introduced to by his Uncle, Kenneth Montgomery. He served as the President, and his line name was “True Blue”. Rez was known for his joking, easy-going personality. No one was safe from his quick wit and comical banter. He was the “Lebron” of Roasting, a trait he no doubt inherited from his dad. He was also a talented artist; he wrote poetry and rap songs and was skilled at drawing. Lundy’s journey came to an end on March 18, 2019 at 11:45 p.m. His father, Lundy S. Blue, Sr., preceded him in death. Rez leaves to forever cherish his memory his mother, Diedra N. Smith; Three sisters, Qiarra Blue, Déjà Smith, and Jailei Ragland; Two brothers, Damonte Blue & Shirez A. Blue; Grandparents, Charles (Martha) Smith, Diedra E. (Dominic) Smith-Martin, Lundy & Lena Blue; Two uncles, Dortavius Boey and Charles Smith; Three aunts, Tiffany (Michael) Sims, Cameka Lee, & Laketra Blue; One niece, Aubree Blue; A special little cousin, Ryllie Hines; Two best friends, Teonte Powell & LaMarcus Fleming; and a host of cousins and friends.

FAREWELL, DEAR COUSIN My eyes filled up with tears as I as I heard the news. I find myself wishing that it wasn’t real. Every time I think about it, pain is all I can feel. Tears fall from my eyes; I can barely see; But my heart tells me that you will always be with me. I’m glad you feel no pain now; you’re now in a perfect land. I can still feel the laughter from the joy you would bring. I lie in bed and cry at night, And I don’t feel any better in the morning light. I will miss you forever, Until the day we are all together again. Together in that perfect place above, Filled with caring, sharing, and love, But until that day comes—I wipe my tears away And know that we will see you again someday.

For all the laughter and joy you brought to each of us in your own special way Rez, God truly has a smile on his face with you and your Dad in his special place. Love you more than words can say, YOUR COUSIN JANICE
