THE UNISSUED CAFÉ BOHEMIA BROADCASTS all tracks previously unissued! This release presents, for the first time on any format, the only three known 1956-57 Café Bohemia broadcasts by the Miles Davis Quintet featuring John Coltrane on tenor sax, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. Among the highlights are Miles’ only existing live versions of Girl in Calico, Stablemates and How Am I to Know?. Shortly after the third of these broadcasts, Coltrane would leave Miles to be replaced by Sonny Rollins. He would return in 1958, when Bill Evans replaced Garland on piano, as showed by our fourth, May 17, 1958 broadcast. As a bonus, an amazing and also never before released tour de force by Miles on A Night in Tunisia taped in Washington in 1953, as well as an all-star 1958 jam session on What Is This Thing Called Love?

NAT KING COLE QUINCY JONES & His Big Band RECORDED LIVE IN ZÜRICH - 1960 THEIR ONLY KNOWN COLLABORATION – OFFICIALLY RELEASED FOR THE FIRST TIME!! The Zurich concert was, seemingly, the only one to have been recorded during Nat’s tour of Europe with Quincy and, had it not been for the circumstances described below, it is doubtful that the two would have ever performed or recorded together. In the spring of 1960 Quincy Jones brought an all-star big band to Europe to tour a show titled Free and Easy by Harold Arlen. Although audiences and critics alike received the performances enthusiastically, the box office earnings were not sufficient to support a band of its size, resulting in the show closing early and leaving Quincy in financial straits. Norman Granz who had booked a month-long European tour (May 1960) for the Nat King Cole Trio heard of Quincy predicament and immediately seized upon an opportunity to bring the two musicians together. He suggested that Quincy and the big band might like to join the Nat King Cole package, opening for the first 45 minutes on their own and then, backing Nat during the second half on selected songs.

NEW RELEASES STÉPHANE GRAPPELLI QUARTET
DJANGO + 9 bonus tracks This edition presents Stéphane Grappelli’s complete 1962 album Django (Barclay F84089), featuring the exceptional jazz violinist in a quartet format with the backing of guitar, bass and drums. BILL EVANS TRIO with Chuck Israels & Paul Motian complete recordings
2-CDs SET
After bassist Scott LaFaro’s tragic death in a car accident in July of 1961, Bill Evans was devastated and didn’t feel capable of forming a new trio. The late 1961-1962 formation heard here was a transition group, with bassist Chuck Israels attempting to fill the void left by LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian still on drums (in 1963 he would be replaced by Larry Bunker which set the stage for Bill Evans’ second well-known trio). This release presents all existing recordings by the Evans-Israels-Motian trio, consisting of three studio sessions that were issued on the albums Moonbeams (Riverside RLP9428) and How My Heart Sings! (Riverside RLP9473), a single Birdland broadcast on which the group plays three tunes they’d never record in the studio, and the LP Nirvana (Atlantic SD1426), which featured Herbie Mann added on flute.
Bill Evans piano Chuck Israels bass Paul Motian drums CD1 & CD2 [1-3]: New York, May 17, May 19 & June 5, 1962. Originally issued on Moonbeams (Riverside RLP9428) and How My Heart Sings! timeless jazz legacy
LIVE IN EUROPE 1969 lives up to the Miles Davis Bootleg Series mission of presenting live performances that are previously unreleased, have previously only been bootlegged, or are very rare. This new set is the first collection of Miles’s Third Great Quintet, the Lost Band of 1968-1970 with Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette at their peak (they were never recorded in the studio). The album captures the short-lived quintet in three separate concert settings, starting with two full-length (one hour-plus) sets at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France, in Stockholm as part of The Newport Jazz Festival In Europe, and completed with a stunning 46-minute performance at the Berlin Philharmonie, filmed in color. This release presents Ray Barreto’s complete original album Latino! (Riverside 93520). One of his earliest albums as a leader, it recreates in the studio the spirit of a Latin jam-session, known as a “descarga”, featuring great Latin players such as José “Chombo” Silva on tenor sax, Alejandro “El Negro” Vivar on trumpet, Willie Rodríguez on percussion and, of course, Barretto on congas. As a bonus, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis’ complete LP Afro-Jaws (Riverside RSLP 373), taped the previous year, which couples the saxophonist with a Latin rhythm section conducted by Barretto.

ART PEPPER UNISSUED RECORDINGS In cooperation with Art’s widow, Laurie Pepper and her label, Widow’s Taste Music, Omnivore Recordings release a series of previously unissued live recordings by Art Pepper, called Neon Art. From his early recordings with Stan Kenton’s and Shorty Rogers’ bands and sessions with Chet Baker, Henry Mancini or Quincy Jones, to his own recordings - like classics made for Contemporary and Galaxy Records (The Art Pepper Quartet and Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section) - Art Pepper built a legacy of recordings that can only be described as legendary. Thankfully, he also left us a narrative, tracing the history of his life and the roadmap with details of his great recordings in the shape of the book, Straight Life (DaCapo, 1979), which Art and Laurie authored together. VOLUME 1
VOLUME 2
VOLUME 3
The first volume of Neon Art features two tunes drawn from the unissued performances at Parnell’s in Seattle, WA on January 28, 1981.
The second volume of Neon Art features three tunes drawn from the unissued performances of his 1981 tour of Japan.

uptown records Uptown Records, in the person of its founder Bob Sunenblick, has become something of a jazz missing persons - or sessions - bureau. The label`s Flashback series have released rare treasures by some of the more unsung heroes. Uptown has released “new” recordings by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Dorham and Charlie Mingus but has also unrearthed gems from pianist Dodo Marmarosa, trumpeter Dupree Bolton and saxophonist Serge Chaloff and Lucky Thompson - Donald Elfman, All About Jazz CHET BAKER

The first officially recorded date from an ensemble led by the brilliant jazz pianist Sonny Clark.
