weightlifting By Megan Pike Weightlifting Coach This season was an emotional one for me being that I was pregnant and almost all of my girls that have been with me the last 3 years were seniors and graduating. The season was definitely one for the books. We placed third out of 10 schools at the Labelle Invitational and took home

a trophy. We went to districts and finished in second place. In regionals Emily Milstead and Tylia Crowell placed first in their weight classes and the team finished 6th out of 17 schools. Both Crowell and Milstead went on to the State tournament. I am one proud coach, these girls worked so hard and made it so far.

“we all we got,

By Darrel Nicklow Boys Basketball Coach

That was our motto. The season had a bunch of highs and lows in which we started with high expectations with four seniors, three juniors, and two freshmans; we finished the season 5-20 and had some very competitive games and some lopsided losses but overall I was very impressed with the way we competed in the games and the way we grew as a team; we have some great things brewing here in Desoto County that will get us on the winning track; so we are going to continue to keep working to be the best!!!!

girls basketball By Jasmine and Jerome Rudolph Girls Basketball Coaches The season started with the Tip Off classic in which we beat Hardee in overtime 57-48. We got our first regular season win against Sebring and lost to Hardee in our rematch 53-44. In the loss to Hardee, Aleaha Richardson scored 22 points. Richardson had a team high of 29 points in a game and along with teammate Ta’Nyah Smith scored over 450 points this season. We got good play from our post players as Carmen Cordero, Mikayla Carter and TeCoya

Campbell combined for 73 rebounds and 21 blocks in the second half of the season. Hannah Brantley and Marquash Rideout both stepped up to the varsity level and gave some spark off the bench and filled in some key holes. There were no seniors on the team so everyone should be back next season. The team also did some fundraising and raised over $1,000 for new basketballs, rack, cones, air pump and other items needed for the program. They also collected food for the homeless in Arcadia. They also helped in a local fast food restaurant helping in the kitchen and delivering orders. We would like to thank the booster club, parents, friends, fans and administration and the superintendent for supporting us during the season.

girls soccer

By Steve Rickard Girls Soccer Coach We started our season with 3 losses including a tough 1-0 loss to Sarasota Military Academy. We then went on a three game winning streak and it looked like we were turning the corner and getting better. We lost two more games after the holiday break and then tied Lake Placid. In our last game of the season we played Hardee and it looked like we had no clue of what we were doing. We were behind 2-0 with 20 minutes left when our captain, Brenda Perez, scored on a free kick to get the team started. We came back and tied Hardee in a nice comeback game. Our district game was another hard fought battle with Sarasota Military Academy with us coming

out on the losing end of the game 2-0. It was then that I realized how much the game of soccer meant to the young ladies. There were tears pouring from their eyes and you could see how much that game meant to them. I am losing 13 seniors and I am hoping that with the excellent job done by JV coach Saul Vazquez we will have something to build on for next season.
