If your student decides to pursue a higher education with us, they will increase their earning potential significantly. We have many two-year technical programs that offer an excellent career pathway that can lead to a well-paying job in a high demand industry. In addition, your student’s credits at WKCTC college transfer easily to the four-year college of your choice. Our Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees fulfill the general education requirements at any public university in Kentucky. It is also important to know that WKCTC is accredited by the same regional accreditation agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that evaluate academic programs at four-year institutions to ensure the quality and acceptability of each institution. Because community colleges and four-year institutions must meet the same accreditation standards for the first two years of a university education, community college students are able to transfer their course credits to four-year colleges or universities. At WKCTC we have wonderful instructors and small class sizes to ensure our students get the best education possible to fulfill their career choice and secure gainful employment once they have graduated.
each of the four times the Prize has been awarded by The Aspen

There are grants, scholarships, work study and financial aid options to help you finance your student’s education. Most of our students quality for some type of financial aid and our graduates have much less debt than a typical four-year college graduate. If you have any questions about our colleges, financial aid, or any of the enclosed information, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the personnel in our Admissions Office. We would love to meet you and help your student enroll into college.

ADMISSIONS CHECKLIST
TRANSFER
Apply for Admission: Your student can apply online 24 hours a day at kctcs.edu.
WHY TRANSFER?
Transcripts: Send official transcripts from your student’s high school or any college he/she has attended to the Office of Admission.
IT’S THE SMART CHOICE Your student can go two years for the price of one. West Kentucky Community & Technical College (WKCTC) offers many courses toward a bachelor’s degree and lower tuition rates, so you can save money by earning an associate degree at WKCTC before your student transfers.
Placement Testing: If your student does not meet the mandatory placement scores in math, reading, and English, then he/she may be required to take a placement test in one or more of those areas. If they need to test, a testing appointment needs to be scheduled and all necessary testing completed before an orientation and advising appointment. Orientation & Advising: Placement testing does not determine admission to the college. Once your student has applied for admission, he/she will receive an acceptance letter instructing them to register for orientation online. At orientation, they will meet with an academic advisor and register for classes. Orientation is required for all incoming freshmen and will answer many questions about school. Pay: At this point, your student will need to pay tuition and fees to the Business Office. He/she can do this through the mail, in person or online at kctcs.edu/Student Billing.aspx.
IT’S FASTER Research shows that students who complete their associate degree before transferring are more likely to earn their bachelor’s degree in less time. IT’S EASIER Kentucky has statewide policies to help your student’s general education course transfer and make it easier to transfer after he/she completes an associate degree. IT’S BETTER WKCTC transfer students are very successful and perform at either the same or higher academic level after transferring to a four-year institution than students who start at a university.
Attend Classes: It is now time for your student to start his/her future at WKCTC! We wish your student good luck on their college adventure!
When you take at least 15 credits a semester or 30 a year: • you can graduate ON TIME in 2 years with an associate degree! • you will get out into the workforce QUICKER • you save money and incur less college loan debt • you are more likely to get good grades For more information and to sign the pledge, go to: 15tofinishky.org
