LASAQ CONFERENCE We are always looking for ways to improve how we provide the services that we offer and trying to help as many of our community as we can to be safe, happy and active in the comfort of their own homes during their later years. So this year, nine of us, including voluntary Board and staff, went to the LASAQ conference on the Gold Coast. We learnt about marketing, legal matters, new technologies available, improving our services to our clients, the types of services and suggestions on what the future holds for our industry. We have been invigorated and look forward to expanding our 26 years of experience as we continue to improve our high quality care. Last month we are proud to have provided 458 clients with 3,907 hours to enrich their lives.

SAD GOODBYES We thank Tracy Burton for all that she has achieved with us and wish her and fiancé Tom the best of luck with their move to Canada. The past three years have been filled with laughter, amazing baked goods, exceptional organisation and awe at the dressmaking, cooking and snacking skills. We miss you already, Tracy!

We’ll announce the winner in next month’s newsletter. Good luck! A sundial has the fewest moving parts of any timepiece. Which has the most?

“I was so surprised to win! The name suits our group so well as we’re always wandering around the place. My prize was very good with my highlight being the inpromptu wine tasting at Normanby Wines as a spectator. We have so much fun together!” ~ Merle Simpson, Client and Wanderer.

Last month’s winner Merle Simpson named our activities group “The Jubilee Wanderers” and won an outing out with the Wanderers to the Harrisville “Royal Hotel” for lunch. Here is Merle with her certificate and bag of goodies. Thank you for such an amazing name Merle!

Influenza (Flu) is a viral infection that transmits through coughing, sneezing or by direct contact with respiratory secretions. There are two main reasons for getting a yearly flu vaccine: 1. Flu viruses are frequently changing and vaccines may be updates from one season to the next to protect against the most recent and commone circulating strains. 2. A person’s immune protection from the influenza vaccination declines over time. Speak to your GP to find out more and get ready for winter. FANCY COMING SHOPPING WITH US? (Left to right) The Wanderers enjoying fish n chips, Gwen, Gloria and Bev enjoying wine tasting and Patricia licked her plate lunch was so good! “I just wanted to let you know how much mum enjoyed morning melodies the other day. With her condition, she was naturally quite tired after her energetic dancing, but interestingly was more articulate than she has been for weeks in telling me about it. I was really quite amazed at how good her language and recount of the event was after all the social interaction and conversation. The stimulation is so good for the brain.” ~ Christine, client’s daughter.
