Johnson (14-3) 70 vs Highland (11-7) 67 January 15, 2011 Johnson County squeezes by Highland OVERLAND PARK, KS – Johnson County responded to a huge challenge with a 70-67 victory over Highland. The Cavaliers won their 14th game and improved their record to 14-3 and 5-0 in region play. Highland drops to 11-7 overall and 3-2 in the region. The Cavaliers trailed at half 36-25 but responded with a 45-31 advantage in the second half. Playing without two starters and a top sub(injuries), Sophomore Guard Ryan Magdziarz led the Cav’s by scoring 26 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and had 2 steals. 6-4 Freshman Forward Justin Leathers posted 18 points and 15 rebounds, to go with 2 assists and 2 blocks. ” We did an excellent defensively and responded with a very good offensive second half.”. JCCC held the Scotties to 38% from the floor. Highland was led by Jamar Gulley with 27 points and 4 rebounds.
