In the wake of the March 11, 2011, Great East Japan Earthquake, Tsunami and Nuclear Disaster, the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) immediately established the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund (NJERF) to aid the survivors throughout the relief, recovery and rebuilding phases. But most importantly, to share the message of hope and to let the survivors know that they were not alone.
In this report, you will see how the NJERF quickly grew to become the largest Japanese American community based relief fund in the US with over 12,000 donors, 25,000 Causes.com members and supported by more than 300 events which raised over $4 million. We share with you the range of fundraising stories and the remarkable work of the organizations and projects in Japan that helped and continue to aid the residents in Tohoku.
