“Think male Celine Dion, Italian style.” - The Boston Globe

7:30 pm, Saturday October 19, 2013 Neapolitan crooning sensation and PBS network favorite, Patrizio Buanne, is known for his engaging and spectacular performances, playing to sold out theatres and arenas around the world with his big band orchestra. Now he comes exclusively to the Potter Center for the first time in eight years on his “up close & personal” national tour, which heralds a new era for this chart-topping, rich baritone voice in the US. In less than five years, this young Neapolitan has captured the hearts of fans of timeless Italian songs across the globe, selling millions of albums and earning him the title “the ambassador of Dolce Vita”. He has already performed for such luminaries as the Pope, royal families, and a US president, but what quality separates Patrizio Buanne from other great artists? Is it the natural grace of his voice, the “rugged” good looks, or the confident, casual, respectful attention that he gives to his audience? Or is it just the basic trust he evokes in people? Italy has provided a simple word to describe all of the above: “Simpatico.”

7 pm, SUNDAY October 27, 2013 Before Michael W. Smith was one of Christian music’s most influential and pioneering artists, he was just a songwriter hoping to find his proverbial sea legs in a city full of musicians — Nashville, Tenn. It was in 1979 that Michael recommitted his life to Christianity and later, hit the road on his first tour with the group Higher Ground. Two years later, Michael was signed as a songwriter with Meadowgreen Music where he wrote for everyone from Sandi Patty to Bill Gaither to Amy Grant, and eventually toured with Grant as a keyboardist. Before long, Michael was Amy’s opening act and well on his way to becoming a household name. Merging a progressive pop sound with lyrics that boldly reflect his faith, Michael delivers a high-energy stage show while belting out his songs, such as “Place in This World” and “I Will Be Here For You.” Today he is one of the best-selling and most influential artists in Contemporary Christian music. Michael is joined by special guest Jason Crabb, former lead vocalist of the group The Crabb Family.

7 pm, Saturday November 2, 2013 Much more than a concert, IN THE MOOD presents a retro 1940s musical revue featuring the IN THE MOOD singers and dancers with the sensational String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra. The music and the arrangements are as authentic as it gets. This was a time that all America was listening and dancing to the same kind of music. In the 1940s, the combination of up-tempo big band instrumentals and intimate, romantic ballads set the mood for a future filled with promise, hope and prosperity. This was the time when the music moved the nation’s spirit!

The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. Year after year, audiences worldwide keep coming back for more of this pulse-pounding electrifying show. As the Boston Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!” STOMP. See what all the noise is about.

COMEDY SHOW! 7:30 pm, SATURDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2014 Late Nite Catechism: Sister Rolls the Dice is latest class in the sinfully funny Catehism series. The convent needs a new roof, so the order has decided to pool their salaries together and send Sister, with her teaching certificate in-hand, to Las Vegas! Sister will tackle topics ranging from magicians and show girls to live animal acts. She will discuss magic-versusmysticism in the church, card counting, and the dangers of pawn shops and drivethrough marriage chapels. Sister will remind you that “What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but God sees everything!

7 pm, Saturday February 22, 2014 Brass Transit is Toronto’s dynamic, crowd-pleasing, studio-tight Chicago tribute. The band’s show includes all the hits from Chicago’s golden age. With a world-class horn section, a rocking rhythm section and vocals stacked sky-high, Brass Transit transports its audience back to the freewheeling days of the seventies. 7:30 pm, THURSDAY MARCH 6, 2014 THE FANTASTICKS is the world’s longestrunning production of any kind, and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time. It is a moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned, only to discover a more mature, meaningful love. Punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy, memorable songs such as “Try to Remember” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain,” audiences will find themselves humming along whether they are revisiting the show or discovering it for the first time.

7 pm, Saturday MARCH 29, 2014 A full evening of entertainment and meaningful music is a rare treat anytime, but when the occasion includes the bestloved voices in gospel music, it’s a must-see celebration! Today, the Gaither Vocal Band roster is comprised of Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Michael English and Mark Lowry. Individually, these men are gifted artists and men of authentic faith. Together, they are the incomparable Gaither Vocal Band, known around the world for their powerhouse vocals, innovative harmonies and life-altering message – a message of grace, hope and redemption.

7:30 pm, SATURDAY APRIL 5, 2014 2005 found Blood, Sweat and Tears looking back to founding father Bobby Colomby’s original vision for BS&T … “Find the greatest musicians and the rest is easy.” Since then, with Bobby Colomby’s guidance, BS&T have re-established themselves as one of the hottest touring acts in the world. BS&T’s multiple Billboard Top 40 hits include: “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” “Spinning Wheel,” “When I Die,” “Hi-De-Ho,” “Lucretia Mac Evil,” “Go Down Gamblin,” “God Bless The Child” and “Sometimes in Winter.”
