2025 SEASON

A Message From Rebekah

Dear friends,

I am thrilled to introduce our 2025 season to you – it’s one full of thrills and delights, deep belly laughs and thought-provoking insights. From the seedy interior of a nightclub in Weimar-era Berlin, to the last remaining synagogue in Afghanistan, to the moors of Victorian England, each production in our season will transport you from the everyday as you experience the joys of live theatre and its communal experience. I invite you to become a vital part of our NJT family and subscribe today - it’s the perfect opportunity to connect with others, expand your worldview, and have a great time. See you at the theatre!

Sincerely,

The

Joy is Contagious at NJT...

“We have attended NJT productions for years and always enjoyed them. While we like the large Broadway shows we see at the Fox, there’s nothing like the up-close experiences we are so fortunate to have at NJT.”

“I am so happy with all the productions I’ve seen in 2023 and 2024. I will be subscribing for the 2025 season.”

“I’m always amazed how the scenery and seating are so perfectly tailored to the specific production.”

“It was absolutely perfect! I would not change a thing!”

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s draw to a close, an intriguing Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Daring, provocative and exuberantly entertaining, Cabaret explores the dark and heady life of Bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Composer/Lyricist.

“Stunning... a masterpiece of musical theater penned as a cautionary tale and not at all leavened by the embrace of paradox.” – The Chicago Tribune

Both significant and celebrated, Wasserstein’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play follows the coming of age of Heidi Holland, a successful feminist art historian, as she tries to find her bearings in a rapidly changing world. We follow Heidi and her friends, male and female, gay and straight, as they mature from the 1960s to the 1980s while searching for political, professional and personal fulfillment. Funny, touching, and written with rare grace and sensitivity, the play is a moving examination of the progress of a generation—a time during which the status of American women underwent profound, and sometimes unsettling, change.

“…witty, hilarious…not just a funny play, but a wise one…”

– New York Daily News

Thursday, July 24 – Sunday, August 10, 2025

Ishaq and Zeblyan are the last remaining Jews in Afghanistan. They share the only remaining synagogue that has not been destroyed by the Taliban. They share a mission to repopulate the Jewish community in Kabul. But they also hate each other. Can this Middle Eastern odd couple commit to one incredible act of faith to keep the diaspora alive without killing one other? A modern vaudeville full of schtick, sorrow, and survival.

“An uproarious comedy with a twist of faith… explores issues of faith, commitment and perseverance that keep audiences laughing and thinking long past curtain call.” – The Jewish Ledger

2025 SEASON CALENDAR

Thursday, September 11 – Sunday, September 28, 2025

Two marriages have seemingly little in common: Esther and Schmuli are Orthodox Jews navigating strictly defined rules and roles, while Sophie and Abe are secular and free to make their own choices. But both couples are growing apart as they strive to balance their individual identities with the families they’ve created. As Esther tests the boundaries of her personal freedom, Abe falls into a correspondence with a movie star that will shake the foundations of his marriage and career. Anna Ziegler’s funny, moving, and thoughtful play asks if following one’s truth is worth it, no matter the cost.

“As perfect a piece of theater as I’ve seen in many years. The script by Anna Ziegler is a revelation, touching on family truths, marriage, and personal histories...” – DC Theatre Scene

Thursday, November 20 – Sunday, December 7, 2025

Get your deerstalker cap on – the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor; Dear Jack, Dear Louise) transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. The intrepid investigators must escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than forty characters. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the killer in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

“At the center of this mad whirl, there’s a relatively sober suspense drama — brooding, darkly lit and full of clues that you can follow yourself as the mystery unravels.” – Hartford Courant
