Dear Members and Friends,

YOUTH & FAMILY.............................................. 11

Here comes summer! Soon, the sights and sounds of J Day Camps will fill the campuses…and the gyms…and the pools! (I love it all!) It makes me so happy to watch the children make friends, sing camp and Shabbat songs at the top of their lungs, learn to swim and learn new skills, no matter which camp they attend. I hope you’ll spend lots of time this summer at the J.

Early Childhood........................................... 12 Infants – Pre-K............................................ 13 Expecting & New Moms.............................. 14 Youth & Teens.............................................. 15 J Day Camps................................................ 16 Birthday Parties........................................... 20

I also hope you’ll take the time to look through our new Program Guide – we’ve tried to make it easier to discover activities by age, across all departments. We hope you’ll discover programs and activities that connect you to your interests: poolside yoga, family playdates, films and music – maybe you’d like to enter the Tough Mudder as a member of Team J! No matter what your interests may be, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff, we look forward to seeing you at the J. And if you would like to see a program we don’t currently offer, please let me know.

Early Childhood Center The early childhood years are a crucial stage in a child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. It’s when children need high quality care and learning experiences. The J’s Early Childhood Center provides such care and education that embraces the development of your child – mind, body and soul.

Infants & Toddlers__________________

6 wks-2 yrs Starting as young as six weeks, our infant and toddler classrooms provide a caring and nurturing environment. Our professional educators, along with our families, provide high-quality, individualized, responsive and stimulating experiences that will influence your child’s growth and learning experience.

Pre-Schoolers___________________ 3-5 yrs Our teachers deliver positive learning experiences to help children’s intellectual, social and emotional development. We help children build cognitive skills, preparing them for success in multiple academic areas, including reading, math and science. Areas of focus also include character, social and emotional, gross motor and executive functioning.

“A parent teacher conference when our daughter is six months old? You’re kidding right? I just laughed and shook my head. But jump forward five years and our daughter is in kindergarten and testing off the charts in both reading, writing, and math. The J’s ECC prepared her so well for kindergarten, that she’s six years old and writing complete sentences and reading Dr. Seuss books cover to cover. I’m not laughing any more. The J is worth every penny.” ~ Joshua F., Marilyn Fox Building ECC Parent • Accredited by the Missouri Accreditation & licensed by the Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services • Uses Project Construct® and Conscious Discipline® curriculums-teaching children the skills that foster learning and social-emotional growth • Swimming, sports, yoga, intergenerational connections, and more

ARE YOU READY?

TOUGH MUDDER® & TEAM J What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder is an endurance event involving mud, with fun and challenging obstacles. You will run, jog, or walk between each. There are some great videos online (toughmudder.com/events/2018-missouri) to see the race in action.

How difficult is the course?

There are three distances, each with a specific number of obstacles: three miles/10 obstacles, five miles/13 obstacles, and 10 miles/23 obstacles. The race distance you choose impacts the difficulty and obstacles offer a variety of challenges and difficulty levels. Obstacles are creatively designed to be fun, but also meant to take participants out of their comfort zone, requiring climbing, crawling, carrying, hanging, heat, cold and more!

How do I prepare?

The J will offer small group training for participants to prepare. Training will be centered around running, walking and jogging stamina, and relative body strength (your ability to move/control your body through the challenges set forth).

MyZone June Challenge_______________________ Adult MyZone users, we want to reward your hard work in June. Throughout the month, our fitness staff will choose five random days to reward the MyZone users with that day’s highest number of MEPs earned.

There are no restrictions on MEPs – all MEP colors will be counted. Since you won’t know the dates we’ll be choosing a winner, we recommend keeping up with your daily workouts! Five winners will be chosen (participants can only win once). Winners will receive half off one month of membership dues! We hope to see you daily at the J! Small Group Training SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Group Training is Easier than Ever!

Small group training with a certified personal trainer offers an affordable, fun way for clients to take advantage of a trainer’s expertise at a lower financial investment — all while keeping the fun and competitiveness of a group dynamic. Groups generally never exceed 10 participants which allow your trainer to truly instruct you on the moves, help make small corrections as along the way and create a fun, high-quality workout.

UNLIMITED TRAINING NOW AVAILABLE!

Why small group training?

Workouts may be tailored to different equipment, body weight, purpose, and more, but all are designed to provide significant benefits to participants. The J has several options as you find your path on your fitness journey. We want you to discover what works for you, so please try a class, meet other members, and find what motivates you! You love the results! Questions? Jason Davis, 314.442.3176, jdavis@jccstl.org Andy Hayes, 314.442.3147, ahayes@jccstl.org
